Eternal Life in the Age to Come

In Mark 10:29-30 Jesus said some pretty spectacular things.  “Truly I tell you,” Jesus replied, “no one who has left home or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or fields for me and the gospel will fail to receive a hundred times as much in this present age: homes, brothers, sisters, mothers, children and fields—along with persecutions—and in the age to come eternal life.”

One of the things I think we sometimes forget is to look at things in context.  Sure, I suppose we could say that the “age to come” is in heaven after people die.  God has lots of rewards stored up for us in heaven, so that statement would make a lot of sense at face value.  The problem is with the last phrase Jesus uttered–“and in the age to come eternal life.”  When Jesus made that statement he had yet to go to the cross, die, and rise again.  At that time he and all of his disciples were technically still in the Old Testament Age.  It was only after his death, resurrection, ascension, and I would even argue another ten days later on Pentecost when Holy Spirit came in power that the new age began.  Thus, when Jesus was promising his disciples they would live forever, I don’t think He was just saying that they could live forever in heaven after they died.  That would contradict all of the other things He had told them previously.  No, Jesus was saying that after he rose and destroyed the power of death over their lives, they could have eternal immortal life free of death in every form.

Am I saying we are already living in the age to come?  Not necessarily—otherwise how would they have had time to receive one hundred times more of what they have given up in the present age?  However, I am also not saying it isn’t what Jesus meant.  What I am quite clear on is that we have relegated many of the promises of God (and most especially those regarding eternal life) to a far off heaven-when-you-die reality instead of a Kingdom-here-and-now version that Jesus spoke of.  In fact, Jesus prayed in the Lord’s Prayer for “your Kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it [already is] in heaven” for a reason.  It wasn’t so we could jet out of here and go somewhere else, but so we would transform earth and make it like heaven, ushering in the age that has not yet come because earth hasn’t become like heaven yet.

This is a serious challenge for many because it flies in the face of so many things we have been taught.  And yet, those things we have been taught often fly in the face of what Jesus directly said and demonstrated.  Jesus taught that we are not supposed to die.  He taught that if we die we are supposed to get raised from the dead and keep living.  He explained publicly that while the forefathers of the Jewish people ate manna, literal bread from heaven, and still died, that those who ate of Him, the bread that came down from heaven, that they would not die.

In all honesty, a single article like this doesn’t have sufficient length to explain what Jesus was talking about, nor to answer all of the questions that arise when opening this subject up.  That’s why I’ve written a book that discusses the subject quite extensively.  The Gospel of Life and Immortality is a one-of-a-kind book that begins by explaining how God led me into this particular perspective of the gospel message.  The second chapter is dedicated entirely to looking at what Jesus taught on the subject so we can be incredibly clear that this is in fact the true gospel message and not “something else,” and from there we look at the Old Testament, Paul’s teachings, and much, much more.  Toward the end the book covers very practical considerations, answers common questions not otherwise answered in previous chapters, and gives some practical steps we can take to walk this out in our lives.  If this subject has gotten you curious, questioning, or hungry to hear more, click the title to pick up a copy of The Gospel of Life and Immortality today!

The Gospel of Life and Immortality — Now Published on Amazon!!

Hey Friends of Eden! I am excited to announce my newest book, The Gospel of Life and Immortality, has now been published on Amazon in both Print and on Kindle!!

gospel life immortality undying imperishable incorruptible resurrection body
The book takes the reader through a fairly logical progression explaining what the Gospel of Life and Immortality even is by looking at what Jesus taught on the subject, where we can find these truths in the Old Testament, Paul’s teachings on the subject, and much more. I also do what I typically do in my books, which is attempt to address down-to-earth aspects of the subject, as well as practical steps we can take to walk in this revelation.

I began writing the book multiple years ago, and the past year and a half in particular has been a challenge to get the book finished and ready to print (Originally I had planned to publish it last fall and ran into a series of setbacks). You may have observed that this subject is growing in popularity, and it will continue to do so because this is a major subject that is on God’s heart to share with the Church right now so that we can walk in all that God has prepared for us.

The book title is taken from 2 Timothy 1:10-11 where Paul states that God appointed him an apostle, teacher, and preacher of the gospel of life and immortality. Many years ago God spoke to me and confirmed that this, too, was something He has called me to do—to spread the message of life and immortality in Christ Jesus. I am excited about this book because it is an important step in what God has called me to do. Within the pages of this book are a transformative message, albeit a challenging one for most. It goes against much of what we have historically been taught about life and death, but I systematically go through the scriptures to unveil this revelation that God has saved for this hour. Revelation: The Power of Inspired Knowledge

Revelation is the supernatural release of wisdom, knowledge, or understanding about something—divine inspiration. It isn’t just a new idea that helps us think about something differently—it causes literal change in our beliefs and understanding and may alter how we approach and respond to situations. When we receive revelation, there is an inner expansion that takes place—a quickening of our spirit. It is usually accompanied by a mental moment where an idea clicks into place. Oftentimes after receiving it, the revelation seems so obvious that we don’t know why we didn’t understand or realize that particular concept before.

Revelation typically comes to us in one of four ways:

  1. Directly by download from the Holy Spirit without prompting stimuli.
  2. Download from the Holy Spirit during a prompting stimuli such as reading, meditation, worship, etc.
  3. Through listening to teachings by others (a very specific prompting stimulus).
  4. Given to us by angelic messenger.

In reality, the Holy Spirit is the one who quickens all revelation within us, so regardless of the delivery method all of them are ultimately His work. Jesus spoke of the Holy Spirit’s revelation-giving power in John 16:14 saying, “He will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you.” The exact manner in which we receive divine inspiration is not always that important. In other words, it doesn’t matter if an angelic messenger delivers a missive or if we realize that same something while reading our Bible. What is most important is the internal transformation that occurs.

To be clear, information and revelation are not the same thing. I can listen to people talk about things I have never heard before, and as a result I will gain knowledge—new information. But something must take place on a spiritual level within me for that information to become revelation, and that is the key we are looking for. Why does it matter if something is inspired as opposed to learned? It comes down to impartation.

When we learn an idea, we have head knowledge. It is a mental construct that has no further ability or power beyond how we apply it with our minds and actions. With any form of divine inspiration, however, it carries virtue with it and creates inner transformation. In other words, when we receive revelation from heaven, we have in that moment received an impartation of something that makes changes in our soul and spirit. And, as we have discussed previously, once we receive something, we can give it away. Yet again, this is also a means by which we can receive impartation even if we are alone—as we engage the Holy Spirit He will reveal things to us, and as He reveals things to us they become implanted within our spirits and we can nurture that inspiration and let it grow and bear fruit.

In order to take advantage of this, it helps to understand how we can position ourselves to receive. Theoretically, receiving new revelation is not something we can make happen at will. By that I mean that if we were to decide right this moment that we wanted new revelation, it doesn’t mean we will suddenly be struck with a heavenly download. All wisdom and knowledge is there for the taking, and desiring new revelation can certainly influence the speed at which we receive it—it’s just not generally as fast as flipping a switch and turning a light on. Matthew 7:7-8 tells us, “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.” If we desire inspiration, we can look at that verse and trust that God will give us what we ask, but we must learn to be patient and go through the process.

The Power of Impartation—Now In Print and Ebook!

Hey there Friends of Eden!

I am excited to announce that my new book “The Power of Impartation” is available for purchase on Amazon in both print and Kindle, and for you book-listeners, the audiobook will be ready soon! Stay tuned for more details as we get closer to the audiobook launch.  I have been working with Steve Bremner, a fellow author, writing coach, and who also does podcasting and audibooks and I’m looking forward to the audio version we are putting together.

This book started out as a two-part blog post here on the website (part 1 is here), which turned into a four-part blog post, and the revelation just kept coming, so a book seemed like the best way to communicate the information. While the subject itself isn’t necessarily new (there are a few other books with the same title), the information within definitely is! Most of the chapter on Mantles is information I have never heard anyone else teach before, and much of the rest of the book is the same—new revelation for a new season.

Impartation in this context is the transferring of spiritual substance from one person to another, and we see it throughout the Bible—Moses, Elijah, Jesus, and Paul all have done this for those around them, and Paul even wrote in a letter to Timothy about when this happened to Timothy. Impartation is a method by which we can share the grace of the Holy Spirit that is on our lives with friends and family and help them to walk in a greater level of supernatural power, releasing the signs, wonders, miracles, healing, and deliverance that Jesus demonstrated and commanded all future disciples to do—and that includes you and me! By understanding what impartation is and what it can do both for and through us, together we can help change the world around us for Jesus.

My website’s tag-line is “an out of the box take on health and spiritual life” because that’s the perspective I tend to write from. I find new ways of looking at and understanding the same scriptures and ideas, and not just “different” for the sake of being different. My goal is always to help people access the promises of God in a greater manner than before through effective teaching that works! This is why I wrote this book, and I am confident that by putting the principles within into action, you will notice the results.

In the book I cover:

  • What impartation is and how it works
  • How to accelerate the growth process
  • The power of revelation knowledge
  • How mantles and lampstands operate and how to use them
  • How to steward the gifts of the Spirit
  • And much more!

Whether you are a new believer wanting to learn and grow or a mature believer who wants to take your spiritual growth to the next level, this book will help supercharge your journey. I am excited about this book, and I hope you are too. You can follow the link below to get a copy today!

2019 Update

[et_pb_section bb_built=”1″ admin_label=”section”][et_pb_row admin_label=”row”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ custom_padding__hover=”|||” custom_padding=”|||”][et_pb_text]

Hello Friends of Eden,

It’s been a while since my last update about life, the universe, and everything. This year has been very busy for us. A few months ago I completed my Masters in Nursing Education (yaay!), and now our family is getting ready to move to the Galveston, Texas area. This week we put in an offer on a house, which was accepted the next morning, and after months of downsizing, we are now starting to pack everything and get ready to move!

Why Texas? A few reasons. First, the Lord spoke to Sunshine a few years ago while we were on a road trip and told her to buy property in Texas, and more recently she and her daughter have both felt called to help Margie Moormann of Still Waters Ministries launch Papa God’s Hideaway. In a nutshell, it is a supernatural-equipping retreat center, but there is much more to the vision than that, and I am sure I will update you all further as things unfold.

Due to a series of concerning political issues related to medical freedom in Oregon as well as some other life circumstances, we had already been looking at other states to move to, and Texas was already on the list. When the Lord spoke to them, it only further confirmed that it was the right choice, and God’s hand has been very evident as we have been preparing, purchasing, and are readying to sell our current house. Please pray the move and the house sale go smoothly!

In addition, you may have noticed my normally-weekly blog posts have become a little less regular in the past few months, and this is largely due to spending time finishing my degree and doing things to prepare to move. I will regrettably need to back my posts down to a biweekly schedule until further notice so I can stay on top of other life happenings, and also I need to spend some time finishing up my upcoming book The Gospel of Life and Immortality.

This book has been multiple years in the making, and I am urgently wanting to complete it while simultaneously having a ton of other things to do. I had hoped to finish writing it and get it published last year, and when that didn’t happen, to do so this year. As we are heading into September and the initial manuscript isn’t finished (although it is greater than 2/3 written), God would have to move mightily for me to have it published by year’s end. . . but I’m ready for a miracle, so who knows? At any rate, I do feel very strongly that this message of abundant life in Christ is a pivotal message for this era, and I badly want to get this book written and published.

In addition to that book, I am finishing up Gemstones from Heaven in Spanish. I have a number of other books in various stages of progress, including a book on the prophetic, one on healing, one on inner healing, and Oil From Heaven, Gold From Heaven, and Manna From Heaven are also in various stages of the writing process. I expect that next year, 2020, will be a year of books!!

Additionally, some of you may recall that last November I traveled to India with Overseas Missions for 10 days of medical clinics and sharing the gospel. I am hoping to join them in Peru this coming November to do more of the same. If any of you are interested in joining as well, the application, deposit, and balance are all due by the end of September and more info can be found here.

Thank you to everyone who donated money and medical supplies last year, and for everyone who came through at the last minute to help provide the saris and blankets for the widows. If I am able to join the team this year as well I will be sure to let you all know, and will be sure to blog about the trip after the fact!

That’s not all! I have a number of other plans that have been on the back burner for a while, and the goal is to move them forward in varying degrees in this coming year or so. Immortality Academy is a domain I picked a few years ago to use for training and equipping, and it is my intention to develop it as the training school for The Kings of Eden. Currently, the plan is for an online training school, but depending on how things progress with Papa God’s Hideaway it is entirely likely we will form a ministry partnership with Still Waters Ministries for in-person training and equipping as well! Additionally, it is my hope to start hosting conferences to help train and equip the Body of Christ as well!

I recently received a prophetic word that confirmed something that was already on my heart—that it it is time to expand and move forward.  I have had a lot of goals and dreams for The Kings of Eden, but in the past it hasn’t been the right timing to move on some of those things.  I am feeling increasingly confident that we are stepping into a new season for our personal lives as well as for this ministry, and I am excited to see what good things unfold!  We are in the initial planning stage for an immortality-focused event next year, and time will tell what will end up happening, but we have a lot of big things planned for the future! If you want to make sure you get updates on events and new releases as they occur, then be sure to sign up for our email list Thanks so much to everyone who has followed us, commented, shared, donated, prayed for us, and otherwise generally participated in our journey. Blessings and love to you all!

Financial Independence and Goal Setting

[et_pb_section admin_label=”section”][et_pb_row admin_label=”row”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″][et_pb_text admin_label=”Text” background_layout=”light” text_orientation=”left” use_border_color=”off” border_color=”#ffffff” border_style=”solid”]

I have decided that this year I want to work toward financial independence. While that might not seem significant to some, it simply hasn’t been a goal in the forefront of my mind in the past few years. Sure, everyone wants some level of financial independence, but if I am not consciously working toward it, how likely am I to reach my goal? My wife and I recently sat down and over a few different sessions we planned out our major goals and projects for our business this next year, as well as made a ten-year plan for where we want to see our business, and ultimately our lives, grow toward.

For some it can be difficult to envision what life will be like in ten years, so I decided to start with a sort of blue-sky of what I would like life to look like in general. I decided that ten years is a reasonable amount of time to accomplish almost any goal, so simply put my desired future at the ten-year mark. What we then did was work from there, deciding what changes we would need to make this coming year to work toward that goal, and then project from there, in general terms, what milestones we would need to reach by the end of next year and again at the 3-year and 5-year marks.

One of the major areas of weakness for me is investing. Toward that end, my wife and I recently sat down with a friend who works in the financial industry. He has been suggesting for a while that we ought to start investing financially in our future through the various investment markets–something I have been loath to do until now for a combination of market concerns, student loan and other debts to pay off, and just a lack of understanding of the value of what investments can do for me. Sure, I get the general concept, but it has always felt so intangible as to be nearly irrelevant to my current life.

Well, we finally sat down with him and I learned a few things–all of which bode well for our future. First, my concerns about holding off on investing until I “have it all together” is probably a bad idea, as I can open up an account with as little as $50. Second, I realized that the biggest hurdle for me is actually starting the process, not the saving itself. Thus, we are moving ahead with setting up some accounts (If you find a similar need in your own life, connect with Daniel here to discuss how he can help you the same as he has helped us).

Next, I am working toward actively expanding our brand. Sometime later this year we will expand from books and blogs on spirituality to include health-related blogs and products. I am excited at the new opportunities this will provide to reach people and transform lives, including our own. We plan to start with essential oils and Q-links, a product designed to help balance the body, but hope to move to other beneficial products in the future. I have also come up with some health-related book ideas that we will work on in the future as well. All of this will take effort, but that’s the key part of our 10-year plan–we have a vision of where we are headed, and are now taking active steps to get there.

While this may not seem like an extremely “spiritual” blog post, I believe that financial freedom is very spiritual. God is interested in freedom–after all, Jesus set us free just so we could be free (Galatians 5:1). I believe that this year will open up new opportunities, not just for us, but for you too if you are willing to step out and take some risks. I have talked with so many people this past year who are looking for new ways to make money, get out of debt, and many of them who want to try their hand at writing. This is just one of the many myriads of ways that God can use to bless you. I encourage you to take some time and list out your own ten-year plan.

Start by writing down all your dreams–there is no dream too big or too small. Write them all down! After you do that, organize them in a general order of when you want to accomplish them. Once you do that, start looking at the practical steps you need to take in the natural to get moving forward, look at the resources you need, and start praying over your plans. Pray in the resources and connections you need. Pray for wisdom and insight to accomplish your goals, and then get started! It is never too early nor too late to realize your dreams. For me, when I was 14 I had decided that I wanted to publish a book by the time I was 40–and I have put out 4 by the time I turned 33! I have decided that in the next ten years I want to be a millionaire–and not because I love money, but because I value financial independence and what it allows me to accomplish in my life. Your goals and dreams can be accomplished–sometimes you just need a plan, and that plan will only come together if you put it together! As the new year approaches and the old year fades, I encourage you to take some time to put a plan in place. Don’t just write resolutions–form strategies, join groups doing the same, and execute!

If you are looking to join with like-minded people who are forging ahead in their own life, there are many social media groups out there to help.  Some of the ones I recommend on Facebook are:

For authors and writers, join The Time is Write and Just Write
For business owners, consider Dream Ventures

There are thousands of groups out there–you just need to find the ones that are right for you. Get connected and get moving, and have a blessed 2017!

When Your Book Flops—Advice For Authors

[et_pb_section admin_label=”section”][et_pb_row admin_label=”row”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″][et_pb_text admin_label=”Text” background_layout=”light” text_orientation=”left” use_border_color=”off” border_color=”#ffffff” border_style=”solid” text_font_size=”15″]

Any time an author publishes a book, there are three possible outcomes:  it will perform amazingly well and sales will go through the roof, it will totally flop, or land somewhere in-between.  I suggest that most books end up in that nebulous middle-area, but unless one hits a bestseller with the first and makes a name for him or herself straight out of the gate, everyone has one that performs poorly.  This can be incredibly discouraging considering the time, energy, and monetary costs associated with publishing a book.  What do you do when you expect book sales to perform well and they don’t, and what can you do to fix it?

First, you have to look at the problem, because you can’t solve a problem unless you know what is causing it.  In this case there are really only three possibilities:  Price, Content, and Marketing.

Pricing is a bit of an art, rather than a science, but one can do a few simple things to make an educated guess.  First, what are successful authors in your genre selling their books for?  Make sure not to price higher than theirs, and consider pricing slightly lower to make up for any notoriety you may lack.  Second, do a general survey of prices based on book length.  If your book is two hundred pages then don’t charge what a five-hundred page book is priced for, and if your book is electronic it must be a lower price than a print version of the same length.  Look at all authors in the genre, not just well-known authors, because the majority of books in any genre are most likely going to be by lesser-known indie and/or self-published authors.

Once you have priced your book more appropriately, or decided that price wasn’t the problem, you need to look at the next item on the list:  book content.  In the case of content issues, the only thing you can do to fix it is go back to the drawing board and start over.  But what really IS the problem with the content?  If it is bad spelling and grammar, then you made a major rookie mistake—you must not have used an editor.

An editor is worth his or her weight in gold, taking what might otherwise be a “B”-level piece of writing and turn it into a masterpiece.  Editors catch spelling mistakes, turn passive-voice sentences into active-voice ones, break up run-ons and combine strings of simple sentences.  They are the equivalent of an interior decorator, taking whatever you are working with and sprucing it up until it pops.  If you haven’t used an editor, you have broken what I consider to be the cardinal rule of publishing, and you really will need to revisit your material.  Because editing can get expensive, make sure to use spell-check and grammar-check in your document, possibly get a subscription to a software that does some basic edit-checking for you (such as Grammarly), and do a round of edits yourself prior to handing it to someone else.  If you find flaws in your own work and fix them, the editor will be able to focus on other problems within the text, ultimately costing you less long-term and helping raise the level of your writing even higher.

Once you have fixed the editing-problem, you shouldn’t have any more problems with the material inside the book.  Content can only make up a small portion of why a book fails.  After all, someone SOMEWHERE must be interested in what you have to say.  This brings us to the next problem, Marketing—how to connect the audience with your material.

Marketing is a bit different than sales.  If I had to differentiate the two, I would liken sales to getting someone who is standing in a bookstore to pick the book up off the shelf and buy it, and marketing to what gets the buyer in the bookstore and standing in front of your shelf to begin with.  The cover is one key part of that.  Do you have a title that is catchy and informative about what the book is about?  Does it use important keywords to hlep the reader find the book?  Does the cover art draw the reader’s eye and also give a glimpse into the content?  Does the back-cover blurb draw the reader in and/or make them want to know more? If the answer to any of these questions is a “no”, you need to fix that before going further.

Next, comes finding the right people to actually look at the book.  Marketing is all about audience, and if you get the wrong audience then the book will perform badly no matter how amazing the writing is.  And truth be told, marketing is in some ways more important than a well-written book.  A well-marketed B-grade book is always going to do better than an A-grade book that only your family and friends know about.   This means you need to know who your audience actually is, and then find ways to connect them with your material.

One example of a marketing fail in this area is my book The Gamer’s Guide to the Kingdom of God.  This almost three-hundred-page book took me over the course of three years to write, edit, and publish, and if God hadn’t dropped the book Gemstones From Heaven in my lap during that time, The Gamer’s Guide would have been my first book.  Gemstones sold well given my audience, so I expected The Gamer’s Guide would do the same—until I launched it and almost no one bought the book.  I will be honest, I was extremely disappointed when the launch fell flat on its face.  I had created a social media buzz in the days and weeks leading up to it, posted some interesting excerpts to draw people’s attention, and still didn’t get much of anywhere.  Why?

I had the wrong audience.

Only a small subset of people who are interested in supernatural manifestations are also interested in online gaming.  It’s a venn-diagram—that picture of two overlapping circles with that section in the middle representing where those two interests overlap.  The audience who loved my first book were mostly not gamers, and therefore didn’t see the relevance of the book to their lives, no matter how relevant I might believe it to be.  Once I began to connect with gamers, the book began to perform a little better, and most of the people who bought that book have raved about it.  The lesson there was “don’t assume you have a crossover audience.”  What you do for one subject may or may not work for another one, so go to where your audience is.

Marketing also means spending money.  For those who are leery about this (as many of us are at the outset), the saying “you have to spend money to make money” is true.  Just work on learning how to spend wisely.  You can put ads on social media, in search engines, or through various organizations who specialize in your subject matter.  You can put up a table at events, although again, preferably choose topic-relevant ones.  Having a book table at an electronics fair is not likely to perform well, even if the book is all about electronics.   Why?  People at that event are wanting things involving electricity, not paper.  It all comes down to honing in on what the audience for your subject matter wants, not what is easy for you.  If you can find a way to make it easy for you and meet your audience, much the better.

One final part of marketing is the book launch.  The launch itself can be done a number of ways, including limited-time giveaways, prize drawings (check with state laws regarding raffles and such), book trailers, scheduled interviews with radio programs and/or internet radio, a blog tour, book signings, and more.

One of the things people like at a book launch (or any time, really) is free stuff.  It doesn’t even have to be something they use; it needs to be something they think they might use someday, enough to catch their eye and push them over the edge to purchase the book.  On the other hand, prize drawings don’t work as well.  The chance of winning is less invigorating than a guaranteed-win for everyone who purchases within a certain timeframe.  The timeframe creates urgency which drives up sales, and the free gift also helps push people from the “considering” category into the “purchasing” category.  This is essentially an interest-grabber, and anything that gets someone to look at your book with interest is likely to be a good idea provided it is cost-beneficial.

At the end of the day, Content and Marketing are both the only two real problems a book can have in terms of sales, and they are the two things the author has significant influence over!  While we cannot force anyone to purchase our product, there are literally billions of people on the planet, and over one billion of them read English.  Of those 1,000,000,000+ people, there are more than enough who would want your book—but it’s your job to find them.  Get the content fixed, then make sure to get the right audience, the right message, and the right interest-grabbers, and your book sales will start shooting upward.

5 Myths about Spirit Travel

[et_pb_section admin_label=”section”][et_pb_row admin_label=”row”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″][et_pb_text admin_label=”Text”]

Traveling in the Spirit is a gift or ability that has gradually become more widely known in the past decade in Charismatic-leaning circles. For those who are unfamiliar, it involves engaging the spiritual realms by way of one’s soul or spirit. In spite of the many advances we have made in this area, there is still significant controversy over this subject. Many still have concerns, ranging from notions of witchcraft and deception to it simply being a worthless and/or unhelpful practice. The more I engage this subject in conversation with others, the more I discover just how many misconceptions are still out there, some of which still take me by surprise. I will cover some of the most basic myths here, but if you want to learn more, check out my book The Beginner’s Guide to Traveling in the Spirit.

1) It’s not in the Bible

Spirit Travel is found in multiples of places in Scripture and has been performed, sometimes regularly, by multiple well-known Biblical figures, including Elisha the Prophet (2 Kings 5:22-26), Paul the Apostle (1 Corinthians 5:3, Colossians 2:5), and John the Revelator (Revelation 1:10). In fact, based on some of Jesus’ encounters, such as those with Nathaniel under the fig tree (John 1:48) and the disciples struggling on the lake (Mark 6:47-48), it is highly probable he also engaged in spirit travel. Ephesians 1:3 states that we have received blessings in heavenly places, and Ephesians 2:6 states that we are already seated in the heavens, proving we have the right of access to travel in the spirit.

2) It is an occult practice

Spirit Travel is neither occult nor Christian, per se. It is an innate ability God has put within all humans at creation. The mechanism by which one spirit travels is basically the same regardless of whether one is a believer or not, but the actual means by which one does this differs somewhat. What most people confuse traveling in the spirit with is the occult practice of astral projection. There are some obvious similarities between Christian spirit travel and occult astral projection, but likewise there are equally clear differences, the main differences being that spirit travel can be done while awake and not in a trance, and does not require the use or maintenance of a silver cord, a spiritual “lifeline” tether to the physical body that is present in all occult astral projection.

3) It will lead you away from God

Theoretically, anything can lead you away from God. Marriage can lead one away, kids, work, even ministry, provided one gets busy enough that he or she loses sight of priorities. Spirit travel in and of itself is incapable of leading one astray any more than anything else. If one were to simplify it to its most simple form, it could be considered a form of prayer, and prayer rarely leads one away from God; on the contrary, it usually helps draw one closer to Him. This is a straw-man argument, and its ability to lead astray has nothing to do with the practice itself, and everything to do with the heart condition of the one doing it.

4) Jesus never did it, so I don’t need to either.

As mentioned in Myth 1, it is quite probable that Jesus actually did travel in the spirit. While the verses that describe his spiritual activity are somewhat inconclusive, the information he gleaned, and the way the passages are written, seems very much as though he witnessed the events as compared to simply getting a word of knowledge about them. If the plumbline and/or deciding factor for someone is whether Jesus did it or not, then spirit travel certainly cannot be ruled out as a Godly spiritual practice.

5) If you practice spirit travel, you will get deceived.

This practice carries no guarantee of deception any more than any other spiritual practice. While some might argue that it puts one more “out on a limb” than other spiritual disciplines, it is possible to become steeped in deceptive beliefs simply by studying scripture. In fact, entire cults have formed around someone who found a scripture they ran away with into gross error.
Even more to the point, what makes us think we are not already walking in deception? The scary thing about deception is that we cannot recognize it while we are inside it, and typically must be pulled out by an external force, which usually is the Holy Spirit. We have to remember that God’s ability to keep us is always greater than the enemy’s ability to deceive us, and because He is our Counselor and Guide, we can trust Him to faithfully do just that.  On the other hand, walking out spirit travel encounters with discernment is a must, but then, what makes us think we shouldn’t walk out all of life the same way?

In closing, we must remember that traveling in the spirit is no different than any other spiritual discipline. As we do it, we are to engage God in the process, walk with wisdom and discernment, and we will invariably see the fruit as we do so. When we fail to rightly discern, leave God out of the process, or are foolish as we proceed, those are the situations where we are most likely to run into problems, but the same is true of most situations in life. Traveling in the spirit is a means of prayer by which we can literally ascend into the heavens and engage the spiritual realms from there. After all, the Scriptures do already say in Ephesians 2:6 that, “God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus . . .” Spirit travel is simply the experience of being where the scriptures already say that we are.

Hey Friends of Eden,

I’m excited to announce my new book has just been published!  Some of you may have seen the story on social media, but this book has been a whirlwind of activity.

Earlier this year, my wife and I began preparations to attend The Gathering conference in Tacoma, Washington.  Sunshine had the idea to put together a book of testimonies about spirit travel for the event.  As I pondered the idea, I considered writing a book on the subject—something that Praying Medic had suggested last year.  I had been busy at the time working on other books, and even when my wife suggested it, I was preparing to start a different book entirely.  Without knowing I was praying about this and considering it, my friend Mahesh gave me a confirming prophetic word, and from there I set out to put this book together in record time.  With only about four and a half months from the time I began the manuscript to the time I had to publish to be ready for the conference,  while working a full-time job and meeting all of life’s other responsibilities, I pushed.  Even after life got in the way and we eventually had to pull out of the event, I still felt the book needed to be done in time for The Gathering, which it has!

This book came together in a near-miraculous fashion, and it brings a unique perspective to the spirit travel movement.  I cover the basics, including seeing in the spirit, the gift of discernment, and the biblical basis for traveling in the spirit.  I also discuss things I have not heard many talk about, including speaking to the cloud of witnesses regarding whether to raise them from the dead, as well as an entire chapter discussing the ethics of spiritual travel.  While geared toward those new to spirit travel, this book is designed to help bring wisdom to the movement as a whole, covering important subjects that will help guide the reader into a deeper level of maturity in this area.

One of the things I am excited about for those of you who have followed along for a while, is that years ago, my friend Praying Medic and I began to discuss spirit travel and translocation with some regularity.  Somewhere along the way, we received a revelation that there was a kind of spiritual superhighway that was being built to help carry all of the traffic in the spirit that would be on it in the future.  Furthermore, we could sense that it was our job to help build it!  Last year Praying Medic published his book Traveling in the Spirit Made Simple, and just today I have launched The Beginner’s Guide to Traveling in the Spirit.  It never ceases to amaze me how God can give us revelation that years later plays out in ways we could never have guessed, which in this case is figuratively “paving the way” for people to access this spiritual gift by way of revelatory teaching and activation.  This speaks volumes to me about how these books are not just highly revelatory, but are cutting edge!  And while it might sound a little odd to say that about one’s own book, I have watched over the past decade as spirit travel has gone from a very secretive practice to something that many openly embrace.

I am positive that The Beginner’s Guide to Traveling in the Spirit is a helpful training tool to anyone who wants to either begin or get better at spirit travel, and I look forward to hearing how it has touched you!

For those who are unfamiliar with Praying Medic, he has been a Paramedic for over three decades.  In 2000, while an atheist, he encountered Jesus in the bunk room of a fire station and that encounter radically changed the course of his life.  In 2008 the Lord spoke to him in a dream and told the Medic that He would heal his patients if he would be faithful to pray for them.  Praying Medic didn’t believe in healing at the time, but he began to pray.  In 2009 he began a blog, the Mobile Intensive Prayer Unit, to chronicle the work God was doing through healing and miracles around the world, as well as to share some of his own experiences of learning to move in healing and miracles.  Eventually he moved over to PrayingMedic.com.  After blogging for years, he published his first book in 2013 called Divine Healing Made Simple, and in 2016 he appeared on Sid Roth’s show Its Supernatural (the video is below).

He often writes about healing, but also covers dreams, deliverance, hearing God and seeing in the spirit, spiritual travel, politics and economics, and more.  He infrequently speaks at conferences and other training events, preferring to focus on writing books, podcasting, and now teaching online courses.
