Practical Thoughts on Raising the Dead

Charlie Kirk’s execution/assassination yesterday has many people unsettled for a range of reasons, but I don’t plan to go into any of that.  What the situation has done in one of my specific areas of focus is something that consistently happens almost any time some major news event that deals with death and dying occurs.  And that is a focus on what I refer to as “Celebrity resurrection.”  I define “Celebrity resurrection” as a focus on attempting to raise the dead specifically in the case of a high profile individual, regardless of whether that person is high-profile due to their profession, news coverage of an event, or any other cause that makes it become high-profile.  What tends to happen any time a high-profile individual passes away is that for some believers it reminds them that through Christ Jesus we can raise the dead, and they have a desire to extend that offer of life to that individual.  I both love that and am frustrated by that simultaneously.  This is a difficult subject to navigate well because there are multiple factors in play that all stand in tension with another, and all of them have their own measure of validity.  So in light of yesterday’s atrocity, keeping in mind that we, the Body of Christ, are meant to provide solutions to every problem, I want to discuss some practical thoughts on raising the dead and specifically look at the barriers that one will deal with when it comes to celebrity resurrection.

Any time we are raising the dead we will ideally look to get access to their body.  Is it possible to raise someone from the dead without that? Yes. Can God re-create a body from ashes such as in cremation or a house fire? Yes.  Can He teleport someone’s body that is washed away in a flood back to you so you can raise them?  Yes, He both can and has done so. But that doesn’t change the fact that the predominant means of raising the dead is quite simply to command life over someone’s body. I don’t say this to create some sort of mental or theological limitation, but to recognize that the vast majority of the time that is how it will occur, and as such, gaining access to the body to pray should be a goal of ours.

In most first-world countries, we like to hide our dead. There are legitimate sanitary and legal reasons for some of this, but it does create barriers and restrictions to gaining access to a body for resurrection prayer.  I had someone ask me yesterday if traveling in the spirit to pray over someone’s body is an option.  Yes, that is always an option. And for those who want to understand more about what that means or what that is, I teach on the subject at length in my book The Beginners Guide to Traveling in the Spirit, so I’m not going to cover that further here.  But while it is an option, as I said above, it’s not the primary option and gaining access to the body should still be a main goal/method that we use.

Where the issues of body-access comes into conflict with raising the dead as a whole, and especially with celebrity resurrection, is that we generally need family permission to gain access to the body.  Obtaining family permission can be difficult all on its own without even considering someone’s potential high profile status.  Most people, and even most Christians, still consider the concept of raising the dead to be extremely fringe even though it is a pivotal aspect of the Christian faith—to the point that if raising the dead doesn’t happen, Christianity has zero value as a belief system because if the dead are not raised then it would be a lie.  Fortunately, God does raise the dead, Christianity is not a lie, and raising the dead is gradually becoming more mainstream as people get a greater revelation of God’s desire for abundant life for us.

Obtaining family permission is generally as straightforward as asking the family for permission.  But straightforward does not mean easy. I don’t know that there is almost ever a time when asking someone for permission to pray over their deceased loved one is not daunting.  Our own fears and doubts start to rear their heads and we have to militantly govern over our thoughts in those moments. Broaching this subject with someone has very real risks from being the target of ridicule and anger up to and including a complete loss of relationship with both the person we ask and others around them.  Nevertheless, if we want to obtain access to someone’s body, we have to have that uncomfortable and risky conversation.  And we have to have it with the right people.

Outside of situations where someone dies right in front of us, we first have to have access to the family.  Then we have to have a favor with the family in order for them to say yes. Even once they say yes, there has to be follow-through on their part to actually give us the access that they told us we may have. The logistics of that follow-through may have a number of hoops to jump through as well as potential monetary costs associated with it.  For example, a funeral home may charge the family each time we want access to the body to have time to pray over it, and they may have limitations on certain hours when we are permitted to do that. And at least in the United States, there is nothing illegal about the funeral home doing that.  All of that can create more barriers to the resurrection effort, and at any step of this process we can lose the person’s interest or buy-in for any reason

Where this gets more tricky with celebrity resurrection is that due to the high profile nature of the circumstances, family is usually being bombarded by people.  Whether it is a famous actor or singer who has potentially hundreds of thousands if not millions of fans, or something that is big in the local news and it’s getting a lot of local attention, the family is dealing both with the death of their loved one, as well as having to handle media and social media pressure and attention.  Without immense favor from God in these circumstances or a pre-existing relationship, it is usually very difficult for someone to get access to the family to even bring up the request.

So does that mean that because it’s hard that we simply abandoned the attempt in those situations and only try for ones that feel less-difficult?  Not necessarily.  However, the guidance I would give on the subject is that we need to be conscious about staying within what the Bible calls our metron, also known as our “area of influence.”  I firmly believe the Body of Christ has this solution available to offer Charlie Kirk’s family on his behalf.  However, on a personal level, I do not know anyone in that family and I don’t think I know anyone with even two degrees of separation to that family.  So while the will of God is for him and every other person on the planet to be raised from the dead, unless something happens and God opens that door for me (which I am very open to), I will not be making personal attempts at that in this specific circumstance.  And again, this is where it’s a sensitive subject with nuance. Because neither the will of God or the situation have changed. His desire is for life. But there is a very real matter of divine order in how God chooses to do things in most circumstances, and unless/until God opens things up to bring that into my personal Metron, it simply isn’t, and is therefore someone else’s job. Again, that doesn’t mean that someone shouldn’t attempt to raise him from the dead.  It just means that unless things change, that person isn’t me and likely it isn’t anyone I know either.  Which means if you’re reading this, unless you have either a specific leading from the Holy Spirit, a relationship with the family or the ability to get it, and divine favor for access, then it isn’t you either.  And in a situation that is as tragic and evil as this one is, that’s not nice news to hear, which is part of what makes this a sensitive issue, but that’s not all.

There is a separate matter of motives and motivation.  I think this is never a bad question to ask, but I think it is all the more appropriate in the case of celebrity resurrections. We each have to ask this question in our own hearts, which is “of all of the people who have died in the last week or month, why am I focusing on this one?” There are a range of potential answers, and most of them aren’t necessarily bad answers. For me, in some situations, I have directly and personally known the deceased.  At times, it has been a friend of a friend or a friend’s family member.  In other circumstances people have reached out to me because they have read one of my books or articles on the subject, heard me talk on a podcast, or been informed about me some other way.  On occasion I will get a request from another minister who knows that I believe in raising the dead because I live comparatively local to the person who reached out to them for help.  It varies from circumstance to circumstance.  For me, the motivation is always that death is an enemy, grief and pain and death are evil, and God desires that person and their family to experience life. What is generally never a motivating factor for me is the level of famousness of the person involved.  But that is often a primary motivator for many people who want a celebrity resurrection.  And it is another part of what makes this a sensitive subject to discuss.

I don’t want to discourage people from praying to raise the dead because I firmly believe it is always God’s will to resurrect them, every single time. And yet there is also this issue of operating in our God-assigned sphere of influence, and those two can at times be in conflict with one another.  How I resolve what can sound cognitively dissonant in my own mind is to recognize that while God may want someone to do that thing, God isn’t always assigning that thing to me. Nor should I necessarily assign it to myself.

I have had plenty of times in my life where I have prayed to God and asked Him to do something in a situation and His reply has been “you do something”.  That might sound like a strange response to hear from God until we understand that we are collectively assigned as His change-agents in the earth. In other words, long ago, God delegated everything in the earth to us to fix, and he has never undelegated that to us. Which means it’s still our job, not His.  Whether it comes to raising Charlie Kirk from the dead or anyone else, that is our job as followers of Jesus Christ.  The individual details of which person does which things are largely at the direction of the Holy Spirit, but it is conclusively our collective job to do the things that remove death and decay from the cosmos and fix all creation to make it become on earth the same way it already is in heaven.

So while God has assigned dead-raising to us, God has not assigned every single one of those to me personally. This means that in every situation, whether it is raising the dead, healing the sick, speaking a word of encouragement to a neighbor, or anything else, we have to be aware of those things that are within our sphere of influence and therefore are our God-ordained responsibility, and those things that are outside our metron making them someone else’s.  I believe looking at heart motivation is important in this type of situation because if we don’t look at it, we can assign things to ourselves that are outside of our metron, which is unwise at best and is otherwise fairly nonfunctional.

Why do I care more about raising someone from the dead who is on the news than I do the grandmother down the street?  When the news and social media give something significant public attention, it signals to our subconscious minds that this thing is more important than all of the things that are not receiving that same public attention.  And that is where the trap is. Increased public attention has nothing to do with whether something is in or outside of my metron.  The two are unrelated, which is why I ask the question I did before about internal motivation.  Am I motivated to do this because my subconscious has been signaled by a bunch of outside influences? Or is this because this is what God is actually saying and doing right now with me personally?  I challenge myself with these kinds of questions, and suggest that anyone reading this do the same.  We must be people to discern what God is saying and doing with us on an ongoing basis.

So again, any time the matter of celebrity resurrection comes up, I encourage us to look at our heart motivation and identify whether this is in or outside of our personal metron.  If it is within our metron then we need to take practical steps to walk that out, which usually is going to look like contacting the family, receiving access to the body, and commanding life.  If you are not sure how to go about doing any of that, or want to up-level your beliefs on the subject, I encourage you to pick up a copy of my book Faith to Raise the Dead.  If you are currently in the middle of a resurrection attempt and don’t have time to read a longer book on the subject, pick up a copy of my book Practical Keys to Raise the Dead, which is short excerpts from the other book and is designed to cover just the immediate practical things you need to know in the moment. For additional resources, I recommend the books How to Raise the Dead and The Dead are Raised by Tyler Johnson, and the book Saints Who Raised the Dead by Father Albert J Hebert, a Catholic priest who chronicles over 400 resurrection stories throughout church history.

My First Encounter with the Electromagnetic Force

Back in January of 2024 I was at one Fiorella Giordano’s second GenNow conference and had the opportunity to hear Justin Paul Abraham share with a small group of us a method he uses to help people step into spiritual encounters and to engage with the Cloud of Witnesses.  The method itself is fairly simple.  You envision a door—and that door can look however want it to.  It can be floating in space, it can be a door at the end of a hallway in your house or the one that goes outside.  It can be a physical door you have seen before or one you completely imagine.  It can be any shape, color, or size, but ultimately it’s a door that *you* envision and that you like.  That door represents your access to the spiritual realms through Jesus, who Himself declared in John 10 that He is the door for His sheep.  When we step through that door we are engaging the heavens through the person of Jesus Christ, and then we see what happens in the encounter that unfolds.  Justin shared this with us and then took us through a short activation exercise to practice this method with our spiritual door.  I forget exactly what I saw at the time, but it was a good practice opportunity using that method.

Later that evening I was back in my hotel room and I decided I was going to engage in the heavens and see what else God wanted to do, so I went back to that same door I had designed earlier, stepped through the door, and was on the top of a grassy hill with this zebra-looking animal standing in front of me.  The sky was filled with dark grey-black clouds and had lightning streaking across it.  I wasn’t sure what to make of it at first because we don’t typically associate darkness with God, so I was trying to discern what I was encountering.  However, we have to remember that the Bible does have a verse that says God is surrounded by thick darkness and another one where I believe it says he wraps himself in lightning—so while uncommon, this wasn’t necessarily ungodly, just unexpected.

I approached this zebra-like creature and it wanted me to climb on its back so it could take me somewhere.  I still wasn’t sure what was happening, but I decided to risk it and see what transpired.  I climbed on his back and he began to take off.  And by “take off” I mean he began running into the air.  As we did so, this circular black space opened up in front of us, like a wormhole or black hole, he ran into it, and then weird stuff happened.  It’s hard to describe because the sensation was not something that I think a three-dimensional physical body can sustain, but its like there was this strong sense of compression and we basically shrank to a subatomic level.  There wasn’t light where I was, but it still didn’t feel evil, just lacking light.  It felt like I was in the space between things—like the empty space between electrons and protons in an atom.  I became acutely aware of this being who was present around me.  Not around me as in “I was surrounded”, but I kind of was surrounded by it, just not in a threatening way.  But more it felt like the focus of its self-ness was in front of me, and without words being used I got this sense that I was encountering the Electromagnetic Force.

For a small bit of background before going further, the body of knowledge we call “Science” has discovered four forces that govern interactions at a subatomic level, and those four forces are called the Strong force, Weak force, Electromagnetism, and Gravity.  Once I realized I was dealing with the Electromagnetic Force, it made much more sense that the sky was filled with lightning when I first arrived.  On a scientific level, electromagnetism deals with the interactions of charged particles, such as the electrical charge created between protons and electrons, or between charged molecules in ionic reactions.  Lightning occurs when an electrical charge builds up in the clouds and when it reaches a certain point, that charge discharges in the bolt of energy we can see to neutralize the buildup of opposing positive and negative energies.

Now that I was “face to face” with this force, I wasn’t honestly sure what to do, as to be honest I wasn’t expecting anything in particular to begin with.  This had all been a result of me deciding to further activate spiritual encounters and see what happened, and now I was having a meeting of sorts with a subatomic Force of Creation.  Having not had regular meetings with Forces in the past, I wasn’t sure if there is some type of spiritual “etiquette” one should follow when meeting them, if they even care about that kind of thing, and what level of sentience a Force has.  I can assume that if I was brought to it to meet that it was indeed sentient, although clearly it doesn’t have a physical body like we do.  But I was encountering it in the spirit, so it would make perfect sense if it was a sentient spirit without a body, and its primary job is to govern over the electromagnetic force in all creation.

And that was pretty much the end of the encounter.  I didn’t know what to do, and the zebra-creature brought me back to the hill top.  I got the sense that what had happened was an introduction and that we would have further encounters later, or at the very least that I was invited to have further encounters with it later.  I also think that sometimes when we step out in faith with something new, God meets us there with new things that bring expansion to us—expansion to our understanding, to our idea of what limitations we have as He brings us ever toward limitlessness, etc.  I still don’t entirely understand a year and a half later what the point of that was.  But it did get me thinking—if there is a sentient Electromagnetic Force in creation, couldn’t the same be said of the other three?  (I later spoke to a friend who has encountered the Force of Gravity, so it turns out that yes, indeed, they are all sentient spirits)

Now I made one major mistake, or maybe I should call it a miscalculation, in all of this.  I did this after a conference session—the last session of the day.  So it was evening.  And I did this after I got back to my room, which was after I went out for a late dinner with friends.  In other words, it was like eleven o’clock at night when I stepped into this encounter, and after coming out of it, I was wired.  Wide awake.  Full of energy.  Absolutely not going to be able to fall asleep.  And if I think about it, it kind of makes sense that my body might be full of energy considering I had encountered a being who basically governs electricity, which is something the nervous system runs on. . .  So.  I went down to the hotel gym, ran two miles, and went to bed around 2 am.

I’ll be honest, I usually like to close with some kind of profound thought or meaningful takeaway, but the main thing I’ll suggest is that if you decide to engage spiritual stuff late at night, be well-aware that you might be laying in bed wide awake for hours, so plan accordingly.  Other than that, I don’t actually quite know what to do with this encounter I had, and although I have gone back to visit since, there was really nothing meaningful that I could understand to share that came out of it, so I’m still a bit clueless at this point.  But.  It was a cool encounter and if nothing else it opened me up to the idea that there is a lot more out there that God has for us to experience.  I share this partly because I hope it does the same for you—that we would not box ourselves in with rigid limitations when it comes to spiritual encounters and be open to everything that God has for us.

What Religion Isn’t Ready For, It Will Revile

About 8-10 years ago, I helped run a prophetic training and activation group on Facebook, where I would put on practice-events so people could practice hearing God for one another and stretching themselves by doing it in unique ways such as them not knowing whom the word was actually for. During this time I was learning a lot about Christian traveling in the spirit (insights which are included in my book The Beginner’s Guide to Traveling in the Spirit, available on Amazon), and as Religion normally does, the nail that sticks up is the one that gets hammered down.

In this instance I was being accused of prophetically spying on others in the group and traveling in the spirit to their homes, and not only was I being accused of this, but I was grossly unaware of it at first until a close and well-trusted friend told me what was going on. They had tried to rope him into it by having a group discussion without my knowledge so they could “deal with me.”

While there are multiple issues with all of this, the first is that I had no awareness of the problem they were planning to fix on my behalf because no one told me (and considering I wasn’t guilty of their accusations to begin with, there really wasn’t anything to fix besides their behavior). When my friend told this group of dissenters that nothing they accused me of fit my character and when he confirmed zero people had spoken directly with me about it, he did, which I appreciated.
I then spoke directly to the ringleader, who denied, denied, and denied some more, and then continued to tell me how much she loved me and my family and spoke all kinds of nice words to me. I confirmed again with my close, trusted friend that all he had told me was indeed the case and then readdressed her. She continued to deny everything, and yet while this was happening these secret conversations began expanding into the group dynamics and various group members began to show up where they never or rarely had before to dissent on various things I wrote on the subject of spirit travel. As it became rapidly apparent this woman was lying to me, I ended our communication (with her lying and denying to the last), and the group almost unanimously asked me to leave.

The ironic part is that this was a group to train people in the prophetic, and this was an opportunity to teach people how to discern spiritual things. If demons can masquerade as angels of light and angels can appear as humans, is it really that much to imagine that a malevolent spirit could pretend to be someone else in order to stir up trouble? Only if you are tied so closely to religion that you refuse to actually discern what is going on. A short few years later, Christian spirit travel became a big thing and now it is entirely normal in some Christian groups and some believers center their ministries around this topic.

A long story for a short lesson, but the lesson is this: the enemy will always come up with ways to get Religion to get you to conform to its rules and regulations, and when you don’t fall under its thumb of control the Religion will attempt to crucify you in some way to stop you—much like it tried to do to Jesus.

If God has placed something in your heart, don’t let the naysayers stop you. Don’t let the voices of anger and negativity and opposition drown out your courage to move forward. Always remain firm in the unwavering truth that Jesus loves you, His Undying Spirit lives and breathes within you, and that with God all things are possible. If you can’t fail Him, and He is always with you, then anyone else against you is simply noise. Drown out the noise, ignore the reviling of Religion, and keep walking forward in Him!!

Pursuing Maturity in Traveling in the Spirit

[et_pb_section admin_label=”section”][et_pb_row admin_label=”row”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″][et_pb_text admin_label=”Text” background_layout=”light” text_orientation=”left” text_font_size=”15″ use_border_color=”off” border_color=”#ffffff” border_style=”solid”]

Recently a moderately well-known Charismatic minister has been speaking up about problems he sees in the world of Christian spirit travel, courts of heaven teaching, and similar. His specific accusations and/or concerns don’t really matter for the sake of my discussion here, but I did observe something in the overall approach that has had me thinking about what it is we actually NEED regarding this subject. I’ve realized what we need is to be pursuing maturity in traveling in the spirit.

Most often what I see when people are in opposition to any of this business is that it either isn’t biblical, Jesus never did it, it’s an occult teaching, etc. Actually, none of the above statements are true, as I explain in my book The Beginner’s Guide to Traveling in the Spirit. In reality, if we boil the objections down to their common denominator, or in the case of proponents, the benefits, it is ultimately a matter of whether one is for or against the subject.

The problem with such polarization is that things are rarely all good or all bad, and when we simplify spirit travel down to a good-bad response, we miss the mark. The matter people need to be concerned about is NOT whether one should or should not spirit travel, but whether the movement is MATURE or not.

I can say without a doubt that traveling in the spirit has not, to date, reached maturity. I can also conclusively say that the movement is in the process of maturation, so it will eventually get there, and there are men and women whom God is raising up to help steward this and bring it forward. For those who aren’t aware, I would like to review some of the common areas where one can walk in either maturity or immaturity, to open up the discussion on this subject further.

Ethics:

The topic of ethics in spirit travel is not, I find, often discussed, or if so, it is not labeled as such. If we are going to continue to pursue spirit travel, and teach and train others to do so, we need to have guiding principles that help us use this ability appropriately. I caution against people setting up actual hard-and-fast rules, as God is not interested in legislating morality, nor is God interested in creating firm guidelines, as He is likely to be the first to tell us to break them under the right circumstances. Rather, we must be ruled and guided by love in our spirit interactions, and we must encourage and remind one another to continue to walk in such a way as we move forward.

Protocols:

There are a growing number of spiritual protocols people use, especially when engaging in what is known as the Heavenly Courts, or the Courts of Heaven. Protocols can be very useful, providing a framework for how to progress in heavenly court interactions. On the other hand, they can be extremely restrictive if we let them, moving from helpful guidelines into rigid to-do lists that must be completed just-so for fear of a negative outcome. Any protocol, whether for physical healing, spirit travel, inner healing and deliverance, or anything else, must ultimately work for us, not us work for it. There is a definite danger in using protocol that we can shift into legalism with these practices, so it is wise to be aware of the risks and be vigilant in our hearts, so we can continue to reap the benefits without any unintended consequences.

Groupthink:

Another risk we face associated with spirit travel, especially with the popularity of various teachers who teach and train on these topics, is the issue of groupthink. This is essentially how cults are formed—people have a set of “accepted” teachings and beliefs, and as they gather in groups with others who share their mindset, they begin to put emotional pressure on anyone who does not adhere rigidly in thought or action to those beliefs. I have seen this issue beginning to crop up in certain places where spirit travel is a subject of importance, which is why I mention it here. While I don’t believe most people engaging this related to traveling in the spirit do it intentionally, it is still a problem. In truth, we run this risk anytime God brings new and exciting revelation along. People get fired up about what God is doing and want to share it with others. As groups of people get on board, and especially as people work to help shepherd and guide others, we risk moving from open guidance into rigid control. Groupthink has a greater potential to grow in any environment where a leadership attempts to guide the beliefs and ideas of a group. While most organizations fall into the “potential risk” category, it is important that we self-police moving forward to ensure we who practice traveling in the spirit do not allow this unhealthy behavior in.

One-Size-Fits-All

Traveling in the spirit is an amazing ability, with the ability to experience an incredibly diverse spiritual world. As we move forward, we have to remember that the spiritual realms are far more diverse than we can imagine. The same God who is capable of such diversity is capable of a myriad of solutions to life’s problems. It is vital that we remember that while the Courts of Heaven are a very good and helpful tool to address life’s issues, the Courts are not the *only* tool. While this might seem obvious at first, there is a growing undertone of comments and interactions that seem to suggest some people believe the Courts are the solution to all of life’s problems. The truth is that if all you have is a hammer, then every problem must become a nail, whether it actually is one or not. The Heavenly Courts do not have the ability to fix every problem, but they do have the ability to address many problems. We must continue to learn and grow, as well as diversify our tool chest, so to speak, of solutions to life’s problems. We cannot reasonably expect that the Courts are the solution to everything because they simply are not, and as such we would be wise to conduct ourselves accordingly.

These are just a few areas where maturity and growth is needed, and I expect it will continue over time. As mentioned previously, we can separate the matter of traveling in the spirit into a polarizing issue of for-or-against, but we would be wise to avoid such unfruitful arguments. Instead, if we are able to help steward this movement into greater maturity, many of the dissident voices will simply fall away.

5 Myths about Spirit Travel

[et_pb_section admin_label=”section”][et_pb_row admin_label=”row”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″][et_pb_text admin_label=”Text”]

Traveling in the Spirit is a gift or ability that has gradually become more widely known in the past decade in Charismatic-leaning circles. For those who are unfamiliar, it involves engaging the spiritual realms by way of one’s soul or spirit. In spite of the many advances we have made in this area, there is still significant controversy over this subject. Many still have concerns, ranging from notions of witchcraft and deception to it simply being a worthless and/or unhelpful practice. The more I engage this subject in conversation with others, the more I discover just how many misconceptions are still out there, some of which still take me by surprise. I will cover some of the most basic myths here, but if you want to learn more, check out my book The Beginner’s Guide to Traveling in the Spirit.

1) It’s not in the Bible

Spirit Travel is found in multiples of places in Scripture and has been performed, sometimes regularly, by multiple well-known Biblical figures, including Elisha the Prophet (2 Kings 5:22-26), Paul the Apostle (1 Corinthians 5:3, Colossians 2:5), and John the Revelator (Revelation 1:10). In fact, based on some of Jesus’ encounters, such as those with Nathaniel under the fig tree (John 1:48) and the disciples struggling on the lake (Mark 6:47-48), it is highly probable he also engaged in spirit travel. Ephesians 1:3 states that we have received blessings in heavenly places, and Ephesians 2:6 states that we are already seated in the heavens, proving we have the right of access to travel in the spirit.

2) It is an occult practice

Spirit Travel is neither occult nor Christian, per se. It is an innate ability God has put within all humans at creation. The mechanism by which one spirit travels is basically the same regardless of whether one is a believer or not, but the actual means by which one does this differs somewhat. What most people confuse traveling in the spirit with is the occult practice of astral projection. There are some obvious similarities between Christian spirit travel and occult astral projection, but likewise there are equally clear differences, the main differences being that spirit travel can be done while awake and not in a trance, and does not require the use or maintenance of a silver cord, a spiritual “lifeline” tether to the physical body that is present in all occult astral projection.

3) It will lead you away from God

Theoretically, anything can lead you away from God. Marriage can lead one away, kids, work, even ministry, provided one gets busy enough that he or she loses sight of priorities. Spirit travel in and of itself is incapable of leading one astray any more than anything else. If one were to simplify it to its most simple form, it could be considered a form of prayer, and prayer rarely leads one away from God; on the contrary, it usually helps draw one closer to Him. This is a straw-man argument, and its ability to lead astray has nothing to do with the practice itself, and everything to do with the heart condition of the one doing it.

4) Jesus never did it, so I don’t need to either.

As mentioned in Myth 1, it is quite probable that Jesus actually did travel in the spirit. While the verses that describe his spiritual activity are somewhat inconclusive, the information he gleaned, and the way the passages are written, seems very much as though he witnessed the events as compared to simply getting a word of knowledge about them. If the plumbline and/or deciding factor for someone is whether Jesus did it or not, then spirit travel certainly cannot be ruled out as a Godly spiritual practice.

5) If you practice spirit travel, you will get deceived.

This practice carries no guarantee of deception any more than any other spiritual practice. While some might argue that it puts one more “out on a limb” than other spiritual disciplines, it is possible to become steeped in deceptive beliefs simply by studying scripture. In fact, entire cults have formed around someone who found a scripture they ran away with into gross error.
Even more to the point, what makes us think we are not already walking in deception? The scary thing about deception is that we cannot recognize it while we are inside it, and typically must be pulled out by an external force, which usually is the Holy Spirit. We have to remember that God’s ability to keep us is always greater than the enemy’s ability to deceive us, and because He is our Counselor and Guide, we can trust Him to faithfully do just that.  On the other hand, walking out spirit travel encounters with discernment is a must, but then, what makes us think we shouldn’t walk out all of life the same way?

In closing, we must remember that traveling in the spirit is no different than any other spiritual discipline. As we do it, we are to engage God in the process, walk with wisdom and discernment, and we will invariably see the fruit as we do so. When we fail to rightly discern, leave God out of the process, or are foolish as we proceed, those are the situations where we are most likely to run into problems, but the same is true of most situations in life. Traveling in the spirit is a means of prayer by which we can literally ascend into the heavens and engage the spiritual realms from there. After all, the Scriptures do already say in Ephesians 2:6 that, “God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus . . .” Spirit travel is simply the experience of being where the scriptures already say that we are.

The Beginner’s Guide To Traveling In The Spirit

[et_pb_section admin_label=”section”][et_pb_row admin_label=”row”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″][et_pb_text admin_label=”Text” background_layout=”light” text_orientation=”left” text_font_size=”16″ use_border_color=”off” border_color=”#ffffff” border_style=”solid”]

Hey Friends of Eden,

I’m excited to announce my new book has just been published!  Some of you may have seen the story on social media, but this book has been a whirlwind of activity.

Earlier this year, my wife and I began preparations to attend The Gathering conference in Tacoma, Washington.  Sunshine had the idea to put together a book of testimonies about spirit travel for the event.  As I pondered the idea, I considered writing a book on the subject—something that Praying Medic had suggested last year.  I had been busy at the time working on other books, and even when my wife suggested it, I was preparing to start a different book entirely.  Without knowing I was praying about this and considering it, my friend Mahesh gave me a confirming prophetic word, and from there I set out to put this book together in record time.  With only about four and a half months from the time I began the manuscript to the time I had to publish to be ready for the conference,  while working a full-time job and meeting all of life’s other responsibilities, I pushed.  Even after life got in the way and we eventually had to pull out of the event, I still felt the book needed to be done in time for The Gathering, which it has!

This book came together in a near-miraculous fashion, and it brings a unique perspective to the spirit travel movement.  I cover the basics, including seeing in the spirit, the gift of discernment, and the biblical basis for traveling in the spirit.  I also discuss things I have not heard many talk about, including speaking to the cloud of witnesses regarding whether to raise them from the dead, as well as an entire chapter discussing the ethics of spiritual travel.  While geared toward those new to spirit travel, this book is designed to help bring wisdom to the movement as a whole, covering important subjects that will help guide the reader into a deeper level of maturity in this area.

One of the things I am excited about for those of you who have followed along for a while, is that years ago, my friend Praying Medic and I began to discuss spirit travel and translocation with some regularity.  Somewhere along the way, we received a revelation that there was a kind of spiritual superhighway that was being built to help carry all of the traffic in the spirit that would be on it in the future.  Furthermore, we could sense that it was our job to help build it!  Last year Praying Medic published his book Traveling in the Spirit Made Simple, and just today I have launched The Beginner’s Guide to Traveling in the Spirit.  It never ceases to amaze me how God can give us revelation that years later plays out in ways we could never have guessed, which in this case is figuratively “paving the way” for people to access this spiritual gift by way of revelatory teaching and activation.  This speaks volumes to me about how these books are not just highly revelatory, but are cutting edge!  And while it might sound a little odd to say that about one’s own book, I have watched over the past decade as spirit travel has gone from a very secretive practice to something that many openly embrace.

I am positive that The Beginner’s Guide to Traveling in the Spirit is a helpful training tool to anyone who wants to either begin or get better at spirit travel, and I look forward to hearing how it has touched you!

Engaging the Stars of Orion’s Belt

[et_pb_section admin_label=”section”][et_pb_row admin_label=”row”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″][et_pb_text admin_label=”Text” background_layout=”light” text_orientation=”left” text_font=”Times New Roman||||” text_font_size=”18″ use_border_color=”off” border_color=”#ffffff” border_style=”solid”]

As someone who lives in the Northern Hemisphere, Orion is one of my favorite constellations—quite probably because it is super-easy to find and is visible much of the year from my location.  I never expected what happened to me late one night, however.  It was either in fall or winter, when Orion is visible in the sky south of my driveway.  I was taking out the trash when I became aware of a demonic presence on the property seeking to attack me.

I saw in a vision that it was not more than five meters from me, and I started praying in tongues.  Right as this was happening, three celestial beings appeared, lined up in a row between me and the demonic assailant.  While it may not seem deeply significant that three angels came to protect me, what struck me was that they weren’t angels—at least not as we typically view them.  These three celestial beings were the Stars in Orion’s Belt. stellar spirits orions belt cosmosAn experience such as this has the potential to open up entirely new realms of understanding, but the first thing it does is open up more questions?  Is it possible that other spirits exist out there in the universe that aren’t angels or demons?  Do spirits govern the stars and planets?  Can stars and the spirits of the stars interact with and influence us in the earth?  All of these things are both possible and do occur.  Scattered throughout the Old Testament there are references to groups of people making sacrifices to stars and the spirits of stars—one verse in particular speaks of sacrificing to the starry host as a whole.  What this says to me is that stars, or rather the spirits of the stars (whom I call stellar spirits), were coming down to Earth and interacting with mankind, leading them to their horrible practices of child sacrifice.

Furthermore, the scriptures say some strange things that only make sense if this was happening.  Exodus 20:4 says, “You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below.”  This command only makes sense if there indeed ARE forms in the heavens to make images of.  After all, how does one make a graven image of a series of blinking dots high in the sky?  I can only make the intelligent inference that these peoples were having encounters, like the one I had, with stellar spirits.

Solomon said in Ecclesiastes 1:9, “What has been will be again, what has been done will be done again; there is nothing new under the sun.”  This means that if something has happened in the past with the Israelites, we shouldn’t be surprised that we encounter stellar spirits as well.  Ephesians 3:10 states “His intent was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms.”  If God expects us to reveal His wisdom to rulers and authorities in the heavens, we might actually have to interact with the rulers and authorities of the heavenly realms.

Madeline L’Engle, author and mystic, spoke somewhere in her book A Wrinkle In Time about how stars are made of flaming gas, but that’s only their physical makeup, not what they are.  After all, our bodies are primarily made up of atoms of carbon, oxygen, nitrogen, and hydrogen, but I think we all agree that we are far more than what we are made of.  If stars can be made of flaming gas but actually have or be a spirit being, then what is to keep the planet Earth from being the same way?  Is it possible that the term Mother Earth is derived from something that indigenous cultures know about a governing spirit over our planet that science simply cannot prove?  While I’m not saying this is conclusively so, I find it interesting that C.S. Lewis in his Space Trilogy covers this very same subject, weaving it into the fabric of the story.  His writing, too, clearly evidences that he has gleaned a deeper understanding in some way about the spiritual forces that influence our world.

Ultimately, whether one believes in stellar spirits or not isn’t going to influence whether you go to heaven or not, but it is still important.  God is revealing the mysteries of His creation and unveiling revelation after revelation to us, His children and heirs of His promise, so that we can walk in them to the fullest level possible.  The stars, planets, and other celestial bodies are not going anywhere anytime soon, so we had best get on board with the program—where we rule and reign as sons and daughters of the Most High.  After all, the entire cosmos is waiting for us to get a revelation of who we are in Him—even the stellar spirits.

To Fling A Witch

[et_pb_section admin_label=”section”][et_pb_row admin_label=”row”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″][et_pb_text admin_label=”Text”]

Shortly before I got married, my wife and I and a few other people took on a witch coven in spiritual warfare. It was a bit unexpected, and we had no plans for such activity. However, we were worshiping in my wife’s living room in the spirit I saw someone walking up the stairs to her second floor. It took me a moment to realize I was observing someone who had astral-projected into the house, but moments later I sprung into action. Sunshine and I walked upstairs as the others continued to worship and pray below. At the top of the stairs I turned left into the first bedroom, which had a doorway on the far end connecting to a bathroom and another small room.

Stepping into the room I immediately saw this person again, so I reached out and flung them across the room. While this might sound strange to some, astral bodies rarely can interact with physical objects, but nothing is stopping me, a spirit being who lives in a body, from interacting with them. Thus, I threw him. He fell, and I watched him crawl on his hands and knees through the hallway into the other room; we followed. Upon entering that room, I saw a vision of four people standing there, all of whom had projected in. We summarily ejected them from the premises.

That night and the days that followed were an intense time of training for me and my wife, as we had never dealt with anything of this level before–and for the most part hadn’t again until this past year. I discovered just how much our will directs what happens in the spirit realm. I discovered that there were prophets and prophetic people in ministry who were both aware of and able to spirit travel at will, but at that time were hiding it from the Body of Christ. I also discovered what happens when you win a battle but lose a war.

The next few years after this event I found my energy for Christian activities drained away. I still loved God but it was like I just didn’t have any emotional reserve available to actually get involved in anything spiritual. During this time I read a number of books by a range of spiritual authors, some of whom lack the revelation of Jesus Christ but who have done fascinating and informative study into a number of aspects of prayer, faith, miracles, and more. I didn’t understand why I felt so spiritually drained until I read a book by shamanic teacher Ted Andrews titled The Intercession of Spirits. In this book he discussed many things, but one in particular spoke to me at that moment–he shared how at one point he saw himself as a ‘psychic white knight’ and took on a guy who was psychically harassing a friend. What Ted didn’t know at the time was that this guy had an entire cult backing him, whereas Ted was alone. The moment I read this, a light bulb went on and I realized what I was experiencing was the result of fighting against a coven in a spiritual battle without fully understanding what I was involved in.

This is the sort of thing that I find seldom discussed, but it would have been extremely helpful to have learned. It isn’t something anyone I knew could have taught me simply because no one I knew had any experience in this arena to be able to teach–whether regarding spirit travel and astral projection, battling witches in the spirit, or anything else related. Since then I have found myself among others who have had a similar learning curve as myself–difficult but highly educational. I learned that what we oftentimes see as a one-time battle they tend to view as a long-term war. When we think we are finished, they’re just getting started–and we have to be in it for the long-haul.

While this might not seem a super upbeat or encouraging post, I believe it is important that we understand that not only is there a real spiritual battle with demonic forces, but there are humans who have willingly aligned themselves with powers of darkness and who actively seek out those whom they can attack. Over the years I have removed spiritual seals, broken curses, and in other ways dealt with the influence of witchcraft attacks both over myself, my wife, and friends and family. This isn’t a problem that goes away when we ignore it, and we must learn to become aware of the schemes of the enemy. We fight with powerful spiritual weaponry that is able to destroy the works of darkness and release the light of the Kingdom of God into the world, and I’ve read the end of the book: Jesus wins. No matter how difficult or dark things may get, keep fighting, keep your head up, and continue to pursue Heaven–for greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world.

Transforming a Culture on Purpose

[et_pb_section bb_built=”1″ admin_label=”section” inner_width=”auto” inner_max_width=”1080px”][et_pb_row admin_label=”row” background_position=”top_left” background_repeat=”repeat” background_size=”initial” width=”80%” max_width=”1080px”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ custom_padding__hover=”|||” custom_padding=”|||”][et_pb_text background_position=”top_left” background_repeat=”repeat” background_size=”initial” text_orientation=”left” _builder_version=”3.27.4″]

I wrote this article last year, when it first aired as a guest post on PrayingMedic.com (here) and JesseBirkey.com (here).  As the new year starts I believe it is important to re-consider our goals and perspectives and how we can make a positive impact on society by transforming a culture on purpose.  Read on:

I have had the privilege over the past number of years to become increasingly connected with certain other believers who not only hold similar Kingdom values, but who have a similar goal in mind–to transform our culture by changing both what people think and how they think about it.

While this may sound a bit creepy at first, let me clarify. There is a group of individuals who are already doing this, and have been at it for years. Sometimes called the Illuminati, sometimes given other names, their goal is world-takeover on the highest levels, and they realized a long time ago that the way to do this was through socialization–changing what and how we think, as these two things directly impact how we live. I, too, want to transform our culture, but in a very different way. I believe it is our job to change the way the world thinks in order to see the Kingdom of God manifest on earth as it already is doing so in heaven.

This transformation doesn’t happen overnight, nor does it happen by accident. No, it is the result of an ongoing, purposeful attempt to steer thought and conversation in specific directions. Take, for example, the idea of Spirit Travel. I can remember that ten years ago, no one in Christian circles was talking about this subject. The VERY few people who were said almost nothing about it and the whole thing was very hush-hush. In other words, people were doing it and just not talking about it because the rest of the body would freak out about it.

Three and a half years ago I posted a Facebook note titled “To Project or Not to Project: That IS the Question” talking about spirit travel including terminology on the subject as well as common beliefs on the subject and offering a new perspective on this poorly-understood topic.  The conversation thread had over 200 comments, with a number of people who got extremely accusatory toward me, almost as though by discussing the topic I was directly performing witchcraft on them–which is absurd.  With a number of other things that went on behind the scenes I ended up having to block a number of people, as some were clearly not ready for this subject.  Just a few weeks ago (now this past spring), a close friend posted a thread on Facebook about Spirit Travel and got over 100 comments, only one of which was negative!

What was the difference between three and a half years ago and now? A lot. Over the past few years these friends of mine and I have done a lot of discussion on the subject. We have attempted to educate people on the topic and it seems to be working. I am not saying that my little group of friends and I have been single-handedly responsible for this shift. I should mention that conveniently, in the past three years there has been a significant increase in the number of people who are teaching on this topic, three main ones being Ian Clayton, Mike Parsons, and Justin Abraham. What I am saying, however, is that because we have been purposeful about shifting the conversation, it has opened many people up to the concept so that when these teachings by these other ministers have come along, the soil of their hearts was tilled and ready to receive.

There are a number of things I am pretty purposeful about talking about and sharing, including but not limited to translocation and spirit travel, resurrection from the dead and immortality, miracles, and inner healing and deliverance. I believe each of these areas needs additional attention from the Body of Christ, and that each of these subjects holds keys to transform this world. The point of being purposeful isn’t to bend the world to our will so much as it is to create a platform where a free flow of ideas creates an openness to the topics we find important. There is something about this idea of “collective consciousness” where when enough people get on board with a topic it starts to reach a critical mass. As this happens, the flow of revelation that comes from heaven to earth actually increases based on the demand we are placing on that revelation.

Our methods are pretty simple: open conversation on a subject even if it is poorly regarded, help other people view the subject in a new light, and continue to share new insights as we get them. As this happens, invariably new people with different insights are drawn into the conversation, and the total body of knowledge on the subject increases. As this happens, more and more people begin to get heavenly downloads and jump on board, and like a snowball rolling down a hill, the movement grows. I feel it is safe to say that just based on the response to Spirit Travel three years ago versus now that our methods are working. I should mention that we are very transparent about this, as evidenced by such things as this article you are reading now. Our goal isn’t to manipulate for untoward gain, but rather that as we all grow, we are better able to access Kingdom tools that God designed for us long ago.

I believe this is a method God has given us to help transform the earth, and I encourage you to see how you can put this to good use in your own life! You might begin by identifying key areas that you feel God is leading you to purposefully engage, and take a risk–step out on a limb and share something you might not get good feedback on. I know in my own life I began to talk about things because I believed that many other people were experiencing similar things but were too afraid to talk about them. By stepping out and being the “first one” I broke the silence. It was pretty amazing to me the number of other people who had confirming experiences, some of which were even more radical than my own! The key isn’t to get positive feedback, but rather to start the conversation. By opening up the floor, whether on social media, your own blog, in conversations with family and friends, or all of the above, you are putting a demand on heaven and God is ready and willing to respond! The flow of heaven is far more directed by our desires and expectations than you may think. Things are accelerating and change is breaking through at unprecedented speeds. Get started today and be surprised in a few years what differences you see.

Courts of Heaven, spirit travel, intercession, prayer, visualization, IanClayton, MikeParsons

Why I Find The Courts of Heaven Teaching Annoying

The latest and greatest fad in Charismatic Christianity is something called The Courts of Heaven.  The craze seems to have started off largely from some teachings by a man named Robert Henderson who has written a book on the subject.  While he cannot solely be credited with the topic, he is a known proponent of the subject and a vocal supporter.  There are a growing number of other ministers who teach and mentor on this subject, a few of the more notable ones being Mike Parsons and Ian Clayton.  While I have given this subject some time and attention in the past, it is no longer something I am willing to pursue with any depth at this point–mainly because I find the Courts of Heaven teaching annoying.

For those who are unfamiliar with this concept, it basically involves going in the spirit to a heavenly courtroom, presenting one’s case before the heavenly judge (who may be God, an angel, an Elder, or other nondescript heavenly being depending on the situation), letting Satan accuse you, getting Jesus to overthrow the accusation, and then getting a ruling from heaven in one’s favor.  The essence of this is as a new method of spiritual warfare that doesn’t take place on a battlefield, but is a bit more of a genteel way to do war through the spiritual legal system of the universe.  Some people find this as having no scriptural basis, but if you actually sit down and go through the teachings, at least the ones I have heard are somewhat well-reasoned, scripturally backed, and seem pretty sensible.  So what’s so bothersome about it?

Honestly, what I think bothers me is the intense faddishness with which the teaching has garnered in the past few years.  Entire ministries are blooming overnight with the express purpose of teaching what essentially is just a new visualization of old methods of prayer.  In reality there is nothing inherently wrong with ministries being centered around this, as if we are honest, all ministries are centered around some aspect or aspects of the Christian faith–no one could possibly cover them all.  What I find frustrating about the fad is mostly the attitudes and the language.

There are entire new sets of verbiage that people in these groups (many of whom I am close friends with) use that are really just new terms to describe some of the same things we have been doing and saying for years.  “If it is in your scroll” is just another way of saying “If it’s your destiny, or fate, or whatever” or “If God wills it.” It’s just as fatalistic but with a verbal twist.  Sitting on a “bench” is something one does with their bottom.  Giving a special name to some spiritual legislative body should at LEAST have some imagination to it–is “Bench” the best we can do?  Why not call it the Galactic Council of the Seventeen Elders of the Great Key or the Great Gate of the Firewind Saints, or legislating on the Elemental Council of the Fifth Spire.  Oh, wait–some of the names of the various heavenly courtrooms I have heard of are nearly as creative–and outlandish.  And when I or someone else shares a prayer request, the increasingly common recommendation is “I think you need to do some court-work.”  What does that even mean???

While I am poking a bit of fun at the terminology, I don’t actually disagree with the overall concept that there are spiritual legislative bodies over creation with varying levels of authority.  I think the idea is valuable, but the faddishness needs to go out the window.

One of the things I have heard pointed out about this teaching is that it fosters elitism.  I have personally witnessed a bit of this in some of the leaders teaching it, but I personally haven’t encountered the “only a few people are special enough to do this” that others have.  I will say that there are some teachings that have to do with WHICH courts people are allowed to go in, having to do with their maturity level and level of authority in the spirit and such, and that doesn’t entirely rub me the wrong way, although it doesn’t quite sit right either.  While I don’t see anything direct in scripture that states as much, there are a number of places in the Bible where it discusses the difference between mature and immature children of God and the resulting authority afforded them, so I can at least see some scriptural precedent that it could be possible.  On the other hand, this elitism hides, as a friend pointed out, under the guise of “well, you need to do it THIS way”.  The need for strict adherence to a particular methodology is some of what is so problematic about this teaching–because theoretically if one does it wrong, one could bring judgment upon him/herself from the very same courts that are supposedly designed to bring freedom to them and are (in theory) stacked in their favor.

The other thing I find problematic about the Courts of Heaven teaching is positional–when I am in the spirit I operate from my authority and decree things to get accomplished in the earth so they will be established, not beg God in a spiritual courtroom to do some legalese so I can have things he already accomplished.  When I go into the heavens, I almost have to work at it to put myself in a subservient position instead of finding myself sitting AS the judge who is doing the legislating.  After all, the Bible says that we are going to judge angels (1 Corinthians 6:3), not be judged by them.  My main concern, outside the faddishness, is the issue that when I ask God for permission to do stuff instead of walking in the “all authority on heaven and earth has been given . . . therefore go” (Matthew 28:18-19) then I’m not, in my opinion, walking in maturity.

Now that I have told you why I find the Courts of Heaven teaching annoying, let me bring a little balance, as I don’t believe in throwing the baby out with the bathwater.  As stated before, I think there is actually a decent enough amount of scriptural principles behind it to make it at least as valuable a “thing” as the various prayer-methods that have existed prior to now. I have used it and will continue to do so to some limited extent.  It is a method that works great for some, and some of those for whom who it works well and who are beginning to teach and train others to do the same are actually good friends of mine.  I respect them greatly and I am well acquainted with their hearts, which are fervently after God’s.  They know how to hear and be led by Holy Spirit, and I believe quite strongly they are doing just that.

I personally see this as more of a method than it is the “new life-altering transformative revelation” that it is essentially being touted by some (not in those exact words), and it’s a method that works great for some people. I find it annoying that the new “thing” comes with obnoxious super-spiritual and elitist cliquish language, but again, if it is a method working for people, then language issues aside, that’s actually a very good thing.  I actually think that a lot of this court-stuff is so subjective yet with sufficient scriptural backing that even the galactic councils and such could well be true, but it’s simply not the focus to which I have been called in this hour.  I hopped “on the bandwagon” a number of years ago before it really WAS a bandwagon, and eventually hopped back off after I got what I needed from it. I don’t have any draw from the Lord to continue to participate any more than I already do, but that’s just me, and may not be where the Lord is leading you.

My underlying issue with the Courts of Heaven teaching isn’t actually about the teachings for the most part.  While I personally take some of the things these teachers say with a pound or two of salt (as should anyone who is listening to someone teach largely out of personal revelation), that doesn’t necessarily make the teachings untrue, nor does it mean there aren’t valuable things to learn from them.  At the end of the day the teaching itself is probably more or less fine–it’s a maturity issue.

Maturity is, unfortunately, the sort of thing that one gains over time.  This fad, movement, whatever one wants to call it, is simply too young to have garnered enough maturity, in my mind, and so what stick out to me like a sore thumb is the immaturity in the mix.  As I mentioned before, the lingo is irritating but it’s largely how the lingo is used in context of conversations and relationships, not just the actual words themselves.  At the rate we are going, I perceive that a sufficient level of “maturity” won’t be brought to this particular movement for another two to four years, and until then we are left with whatever it is that we’re seeing now, which is a mixture of legalism and revelation in many cases.  And in reality, as bothersome as I find it, that’s actually okay.  Absolutely no new revelation came without pioneers paving the way, and while I can recognize that I am not interested in pioneering this particular method of prayer, I support the efforts of others who are doing so–I just don’t want to be deeply involved in their process.  Maybe that’s immature of me and maybe it’s not, but I have other things to pioneer that I find more pressing.  That said, maybe this IS what you are meant to discover and reveal–and if that’s the case, the go for it with all you’ve got regardless of people like me who don’t like the imperfection.

At the end of the day I ultimately think that people are free to use this method or not, and whichever works for them, great. I have no desire (nor spiritual leading) to join a “bench”, but as a friend recently pointed out, he and I have mutual friends (and good ones, at that) who both have desire AND spiritual leading to do just that–and one close friend in particular recently published a book on the subject.  If you have heard about the courts of heaven and are either on board, curious, or completely turned off, my encouragement is this:  if you find it enriching, go for it.  If you don’t then be free to not worry about it, regardless of what your friends and family may say. Whether you do or don’t, be free.  After all, wasn’t that what Jesus came for–to set captives free?  If you currently engage this teaching and it is creating bondage in your life, then get out.  If it is creating freedom, then stay the course.  Yet again (unsurprisingly) this Courts of Heaven thing, as with everything else in our Christian journey, comes down to being led by the Spirit.   Again, whether you do or don’t do, be free.  Blessings!

For those of you who are curious and interested in learning more on the subject, you can get started with my friend Praying Medic’s book Defeating Your Adversary In The Courts of Heaven.

You can also read Robert Henderson’s book Operating in the Courts of Heaven, although as a fair warning from friends who have read it, they claim it is informative yet extremely repetitive.

Mike Parsons free blog is here and his two-year paid mentoring program is called Engaging God which from what I understand heavily involves the Courts and Heavenly travel, but is not exclusively about it.

Ian Clayton’s site is here

You can join a 2-3 year teaching-thing called The Nest by Grant and Sam Mahoney that is in some way related to this subject as well, but also is not exclusively about it and purportedly is about bringing the Body of Christ to greater spiritual maturity.

I have listened to many of Ian’s teachings and find them as much of a mixed bag as the rest of this subject, although he does not exclusively deal with court-related things either.   As I have not actually read Praying Medic’s or Henderson’s books, nor have I participated in either Mike Parson’s nor the Mahoney’s training programs I am not specifically endorsing any of the above resources, but am making those connections available if they are helpful to you.
