Word of the Week – May 22, 2017 – Wild!

I stumbled upon a band this weekend:  WorshipMob.  Blew me away.  I listened for an hour.  I do not know much about them except that a couple out of Denver, Colorado wanted to gather worshipers together to create jams where the entire focus is to Worship God, but even more, to let God love on them.  The recorded sessions are with varying musicians, dancers, artists, believers.  The particular one I heard was labeled Venture Worship 3—LionHearted, Build My Life, Spontaneous.  You can find it on YouTube along with others.

Here are the lyrics that grabbed me….

“How astonishing
How bewildering
The Ruler of the Universe wants me
and He loves me
He’s wild about me
Oh,
He’s wild about me.”

Is there anyone you can say in your life that feels that way about you?  I can say it about my hubby.  Maybe there are some people who are fond of me…but Wild about me?

Really….how many of us actually think, let alone believe, that GOD…the Ruler of the Universe, cares about us?  Of even considers us?

But Wild About?

That HE loves and wants US…

So that is the Word for today and for this week:  Stop right now.  Let yourself feel this. God is Wild about YOU!  You do not need to perform. You do not need to accomplish your To Do list.  You do not have to do anything.  God, the Ruler of the Universe, is Wild about you.

Let yourself feel it.  Sit with it. Dance with it (at least try tapping your toes to it!).

“Don’t give up
Just keep going
Heaven is dancing over you and cheering you forward…
Keep the faith.”

If this reality permeated our existence, our lives could change.  Even in the hardship, our realities could harness hope.  We would find strength and maybe even joy for putting one foot in front of the other in the journey.  We would have a purpose that is not there when we live in doubt of just how much God really wants us.  He wants US, something different but born out of love.  He WANTS us.

Remind yourself today:  The Ruler of the Universe is WILD about you! XOXO

Word of the Week – May 16, 2017 – Let ME Transform You, Says The Lord

I am not asking you to change; I am asking you to let ME change you. It is MY Spirit who is the author of change in your life—anything else is behavior modification which doesn’t have lasting effect. Inner transformation is not a work of the human will, but rather the result of letting my divine love fill you. John 15:5 says that you are the branches and I am the vine. Branches only grow as supplied with vitality from the stem. Let me supply you with MY life-transforming power.
Man’s programs can be helpful, but not if they get in the way of the work of the Spirit. Ask me if the programs you are using are helpful tools or hindering obstacles. Seek MY guidance to know if you are on the right path. For I am the Counselor and Guide. I am the One who leads you into paths of righteousness, and I do it for my own sake, because to not do so would be to deny My very nature. Trust in My goodness and My power to save, because I am The Lord Almighty.

Word of the Week – May 8, 2017 – Who Do You Say That You Are?

In Matthew 16:15 Jesus challenged his disciples with the question “Who do you say that I am?”  I am sensing a challenge from the Lord this week, asking a similar but different question:

Who do you say that YOU are?

It is easy to recognize who someone else is and who God has called them to be.  External perspective has a way of providing that kind of insight for other people, but it is much harder to develop that same view of ourselves, often leading to thinking that limits who we are and what we can do because we have failed to understand our gifts and callings.

Ephesians 4:11-12 says, “It was he [Jesus] who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare god’s people for works of service, so that the body of Christ might be built up . . .”  Certainly these five, often referred to as the “five-fold ministry” are not the only callings God has, as Romans 12:6-8 lists others: servers, encouragers, givers, leaders and governors, and the merciful, as well as others not stated there—healers, those with hospitality, and more.

The goal here isn’t specifically to try to figure out which one of identity fivefoldministry apostles prophets evangelists pastors teachersthe five-fold ministry you are, but where God has called you as a whole. If it IS one or more of those five that is fine too, but that isn’t specifically the aim.  We need to know our own individual identity—who God has designed each of us to be.  If I am unable to say “I am a _____” and actually fill in that blank with something meaningful, how can I expect to operate in that area with any certainty?  If God has called me to be a healer, and I cannot recognize that about myself, or at least not enough to be comfortable saying it out loud, then some part of me doesn’t truly accept my identity.

God wants each of us to be firm and settled about our identity.  This doesn’t look like shouting it from the rooftops to make sure everyone else knows, as the need to tell everyone else is likely a different sign of insecurity, but we do need to be able to recognize it enough to answer the question for ourselves.

This week, let us do an exercise in identity and take a look at who we are.

  1. Write it down until it stops feeling strange to read that about ourselves: I am a _____.
  2. Step out and tell a friend.  This will probably feel uncomfortable—that’s the point.
  3. When that feels strange, find a second person to tell. The goal here isn’t to tell a trillion people, but one or two to try it on for size and start getting used to the sound of it.
  4. Keep rehearsing it in our mind that I am a ______.
  5. Go out and be awesome!

Word of The Week – May 1, 2017 – The Words of My Mouth

While speaking with a patient and family member last night, we got into a discussion about how we reap what we sow with our thoughts and words.  I got to thinking about how Philippians 4:8-9 says, “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things . . . And the God of peace will be with you.”

We are made in the image of God.

He is The Creator, and we are too—co-creators with Him.  God has given us the ability to, in part, create or influence our reality by the things we think and say.  When we focus on the negatives and especially when we rehearse them over and over, we invariably find our lives getting more chaotic, stressful, and more things pop up throughout the day that create problems for us—all of which give us more reasons to complain.  It is a vicious cycle, and we only break out of it when either someone does something kind to us, or when we make a conscious choice to do so.

Likewise, when we focus on positive things, giving compliments, holding gratitude in our hearts for even the simple things, and more, we attract positive feedback into our lives.  After all, what we sow, we will reap, and I personally want to be on the receiving end of good things!  Furthermore, when we engage the positive, we can infect others with our joy and cause the happiness to spread.

In reality, whichever way we choose to go with our thoughts and words, it is infective and it gives us more of what we are asking for, which only gives us more reasons to keep saying the same things, whether good or bad.  I encourage all of us this week to pay extra attention to the things we think and say.  Are we constantly complaining, or releasing it to God and letting the frustration go?  How can we expect something better for this week than we did last week?

Let’s pray a simple prayer this week, echoing the words of David:

May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer. (Psalm 19:14)

Word of the Week – 4-24-17 – Seek The Simple

Sometimes in my rush to get things done, I have a tendency to over-complicate things.  Of late I have had some time-sensitive projects that I am working to complete under the deadline, and this has caused no small amount of stress.  This evening, as I lay in bed with a sore throat, frustrated that I wasn’t getting anything done, I eventually stopped and continued reading a story I have been enjoying of late.  In this story an immortal martial artist decides to put away the cares of the martial artist world and settle down into a normal mortal life to enjoy the experience.  As I was reading, I could feel my own soul begin to relax a little and let go of some of the stress and busy that I have been carrying of late.

This last week I released a new book, Faith To Raise The Dead, and the launch went alright, but not as well as I had hoped.  I have been pondering what to do to enhance book sales, and haven’t been able to figure out an answer.  In the past 24 hours of just being myself and living life, I had two separate conversations that helped answer my question.

These events seem unrelated, and in a way they are, yet both demonstrate moving from the complex to the simple.  Whether slowing down from the hustle and bustle to enjoy relaxing and letting the stress wash away, or to letting go of having to hunt down the answers and letting God simply bring them to me, I believe these unrelated encounters hold a key for this week:  Seek the Simple.

Regardless of what the problem is in life, I believe this week God wants to highlight solutions by way of simple signs, coincidences that guide us, and other omens that we will only notice if we let ourselves.  The Bible says it this way, “He who has ears, let him hear.”  We all have ears, but sometimes we forget how to listen.  Sometimes we don’t remember that the Divine Presence of the Cosmos is right here, right now, guiding our steps.  Psalm 37:23 says, “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, And He delights in his way” (NKJV). God enjoys leading us into the right paths, and we can trust that in every situation, God is at work to direct our steps, even if things don’t always work out the way we expect.  This isn’t to say that God always gets His way, but that we can always know that God is working behind the scenes for our benefit.

Whatever the struggles you are having this week, pay attention to the world around you.  Let your attention open up to enjoy the life God has given you, because as you do this, you will notice simple things—a license plate on the car in front of you that matches a song on the radio.  A friend who mentions a book that a coworker told you about the day before.  A billboard that for whatever reason really speaks to you.  God speaks through seeming coincidences like these, and all of them are messages from Him to us.  If we have ears to hear and heed His voice in the mundane things this week, we will find that some of our biggest concerns are solved in the simplest of ways.

Word of the Week – 4-10-17 – Pray Things Through

This past week I shared a blog post about the Conditional Nature of Prophecy http://www.thekingsofeden.com/2017/04/conditional-nature-prophecy/ , and even as I am asking the Lord what He wants to share this week, I came across a friend’s post on Facebook asking why prophecies sometimes don’t come to pass–and the main reason I believe is that we have to pray them into existence. I also got a call from another friend today who is very grounded in the scripture and versed in things of the Spirit. He and his family have been going through a ton of enemy attacks of late, but it isn’t because he doesn’t know God’s will–it’s because they just need more prayer. While I am sure my friend would appreciate if you said a prayer, I sense there is more behind these seemingly unconnected but related subjects–and what I hear the Lord saying in this is that we need to Pray Things Through!

We all have “stuff” going on in life. And sometimes that stuff can be a LOT. Too much even. But regardless of what is going on, prayer is THE solution to the problem. Prayer is the connection point between our faith and desires and needs and God’s power. When things need to get done in the earth, God’s children get on our knees and pray. I feel very strongly that God is encouraging all of us, in every situation this week, to pray it through. When things get overwhelming, we need to ask God for His peace that bypasses our conscious minds and releases hope and life into our circumstances. We can either let life’s troubles weigh us down or we can trade our burdens and hand them over to Jesus–and take upon ourselves His yoke which is easy and His burden which is light.

I want to encourage you this week to hone in on your prayer life. Take it to another level this week. Seek the Lord over the prophetic words you have received, or if you haven’t ever received one, ask the Lord to share things with you about your life and what He thinks about you. Lift up your family and friends, praying protection, peace, and prosperity over them. Hold up those who have lost loved ones recently, and those who are hurting or broken. Release the peace of God into conflicts, both local and worldwide. I believe that as we seek the Lord in greater measure this week–as we pray things through–that we will see an outpouring of His grace in our lives, families, and the world around us. May the Grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Love of the Father, and the Intimate Fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all (2 Corinthians 13:14).

Word of the Week – April 3, 2017 – Cultivating Love

I have been going through lots as of late.  Really hard stuff…the kind where it would be easy to think God wasn’t even there much less about Him actually doing miracles, like healing me, even a little.  He hasn’t and doesn’t seem to be.  So what do we do when we are faced with these kinds of situations?

I have started to pull closer to God.  My self-talk mantra each day is I love you God, I love you Jesus, I love you Holy Spirit, I love you angels.  Don’t get sidetracked on the angels part–I like them and have learned much about commanding them to do God’s work so I love them too.

Anyway.

There is this place inside God it seems when we turn and run into Him when things are impossible.  It doesn’t make the situation any less crazy (Well, sometimes it might) but inside God I am finding a place of ….the only words I can say to describe it is warm fuzzies–where inside is warm and happy and loved.

Today…there is nothing that you can do that will make you LOVED by God any more or any less.  He is Steady.  He is Good.  He is God.  Think of Him as a Treehouse, like when we were kids.  Climbing up into that beloved treehouse was a safe place for me, a hidey place, a place where no one knew where I was or what I was doing but where I could be…and hang out.

This week is about being in that warm fuzzy hidey place and loving on God.  Not doing anything else but hanging out.  As you come and go in your daily dealings…say, God I love you… Jesus I love you….Holy Spirit I love you (if you want to hang with the Angels, you can tell them too!).  Just turn off the religious chatter and all the insane to dos that we all have…even though you still have places to go and things to do…operate from that warm fuzzy hidey safe treehouse place.

Word of the Week – March 27, 2017

This is a week to rest in God’s goodness, and to learn to operate from a place of rest.  The past day or so my wife and I have had a lot on our plate between getting my next book ready (Stay tuned for Faith to Raise the Dead coming soon!), taxes, and the upcoming move-in of my father-in-law to our house.  We have a LOT of work ahead of us.  I was getting stressed yesterday about decisions we needed to make and as I prayed I sensed the Lord reminding me to follow His leading through rest and peace.

When we are unable to make a decision, there will usually be an option that feels more peaceful inside.  It may be the one that requires more effort on our part, but there is just something about it that feels *right*.  This week is a good opportunity to focus on sensing God’s leading through rest and peace.  As we focus on remaining in that peace, we will find that situations resolve themselves more easily and with less stress.  God is Jehovah Jireh, God Who Provides, and He is providing His rest for us to enter into this week.  Nothing is impossible with God, so get ready, get rested, and get going!  Blessings!

Word of the Week – March 20, 2017

This week I want to encourage you that you are an overcomer. The Lord spoke to me and shared that many people are struggling with things this week. Even in our household it feels like we are getting hit with one thing after another–not necessarily big things, but just one after another and it seems like we start resolving one and another issue pops up, a bit like playing a whack-a-mole game. The Lord wants to remind you that YOU are an overcomer. You can do all things through Christ because His strength is sufficient for you in your places of weakness. Grace is divine empowerment, so His grace is a release of divine power that is able to carry you through. When you have done everything you can, continue to stand, continue to pray, continue to walk things out in faith with the knowledge that you will end up victorious!

Word of the Week – March 13, 2017

I am completing projects this week.  I am bringing old things to a close so I can open up the new—new mindsets, new opportunities, new projects.  Look this week to see how you can close something out and make room for the new, for even as nature abhors a vacuum, if you close out the old you make room for my blessings and to bring in the new and good things I have for you.  Some of you may even need to close old relationships–those that have been abusive or manipulative or simply using you for what you have or can give.  There are some of you reading this who are asking “Should I leave this relationship?”  This week is a week of closing doors to make room for the new.  If you are not where you need to be, then step out that door and close it behind you; don’t look back.  Sometimes letting go is the best thing because you are now able to receive what I have planned for you.

 

Along with closing out the old is that of preparation.  This is a week of preparation for things ahead.  If you have closed out the old it is now time to enter a transformation phase–getting yourself and your environment ready.  If you have been putting off projects that need to be done to pave the way for things ahead, now is the time to dust them off and get them done.  Don’t save for tomorrow what can be done today, for if you will step out I will make your week productive.
