Healing Fragments and Alters: From Genesis To Jesus

The following guest post was authored by Matt Evans, a man who focuses his ministry on inner healing, and who coauthored a book with me and four other authors, Broken to Whole: Inner Healing for the Fragmented Soul.  His article is as follows:

Since authoring our new book on healing fragments/fractured parts through the work of the Spirit (Broken to Whole: Inner Healing for the Fragmented Soul), we’ve been asked by a few people for a biblical basis. We even ran into one keyboard crusader of orthodoxy who was publicly demanding more Bible verses.

As much as we would love to quote the verse, “Yea, verily, thus saith the Lord, thou shalt integrate thine fragments and thine alters and then thou shalt be every whit whole saith your God,” we also are having trouble finding the verse that says, “Thou shalt turn on thine computer when thou wakest, and thou shalt readeth thy brother’s blog post, and when thy brother publisheth his book on Amazon, thou shalt download it unto thy Kindle, and then thou shalt demand more Bible verses before thou readest, because surely thus saith the Lord, thou shalt do nothing unless it is expressly written in thine Bible.” Or, how about the verse that says, “Thou shalt getteth thee into thine car, and driveth unto Five Guys to buyeth thee a cheesburger with fries, then thou shalt come home and crusadeth against heretics on the internet unto the glory of the Mighty One of Israel?”

The truth is, if we could only do things that are explicitly mentioned in scripture, we would all need to smash our computers as instruments of the devil, then join the Amish for the rest of our days. I’ll share a bit more later about how the New Testament leaves things wide open for continual revelation beyond what is written, but I want to share various places where scripture does speak to the issue of fragmentation and integration, even in some exceptionally clear ways.

First, an excerpt from my own (Matt’s) writing in the book itself:

Ministry to fractured parts was a basic element of Jesus’ mission statement in Luke 4:18. There, he quoted Isaiah 61, “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon        me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor, he has sent me to bind up/heal the broken hearted…” The word for “broken hearted” there in the Hebrew is “shabar,” which means to be shattered into many pieces. Jesus came to heal and to bind together those who have been shattered into many pieces. We’ve found this to be literally true; most, if not all, people have been shattered into many fractured parts, and these parts need to be healed and joined back together for the person to experience wholeness.

Then, Diane Moyer wrote:

I started praying and seeking the Lord about it, and he showed me the Scriptures about double-mindedness in James 1:8 that says, “being a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.” I looked up ‘double-minded,’ and the root of ‘minded’ is ‘psyche,’ which means soul. ‘Double’ means twice, so being double minded means you have two souls. Hmmm… how can that be? Two souls?

The Lord showed me that what I had been taught before about double-mindedness—one foot in him, one foot in the world—was not correct. ‘Double-mindedness’ means two souls or two minds. What I felt the Lord was revealing to me was that many people have a part or parts of their soul that was stuck in trauma while they were a child. This fractured-off part of ourselves speaks within us—an internal voice that wants its own way.

Also:

More recently, the Lord gave me a picture of what fragments/fractured parts are. He has been showing me that although our body is one, it has many parts—fingers, toes, arms, head, eyes, etc. Each part has its function and job (1 Corinthians 12:14-26). Our soul functions in a similar manner—it is one but has many parts, each with its own function. If you break an arm, you find ways to compensate, doing what you normally would do without using that arm. If you lose your eye-sight, then your other senses become more enhanced to help you function. Although this works to some degree, it is never the same or as effective as if you were not injured.

The soul works the same way. When we are wounded emotionally, a part of our soul is crippled. We developed defense and coping mechanisms to overcome the crippling in that part of the soul. These mechanisms remain in place until that part of the soul is healed.

You cannot talk or decide your way out of this kind of problem, and self-control only works for a short while. The Lord ministering to the wounded part of the soul is the best solution.

We can look a bit deeper into the major themes of scripture as a whole, the overall story of redemption, and the basic nature of God and man revealed throughout the Bible to get even more insight into fragmentation and integration:

From the beginning, God was a plurality within one person. Genesis 1:1 says that God(Elohim) created the heavens and the earth. That Hebrew word, “elohim,” is plural, and is translated elsewhere in scripture as “gods,” as in “you shall not worship other gods(elohim) or bow down before them.” Man was created in the image of this plural being. Could it be that from the very beginning of Genesis, we are being shown that our nature, in the image of God, is to contain multiple identities within one person? One might even think the ancient Israelites were polytheistic if it weren’t for verses such as Deuteronomy 6:4, “Hear O Israel, the LORD (adonai) our God (Eloheinu/Gods) is one,” used often to support the doctrine of the Trinity. According to the Old Testament, “The Lord our Gods is one.” Does this mean God has fractured parts? No, but he has various individual identities operating in unity (syncronization). This is different than fragmentation created through trauma, which is a survival mechanism with negative consequences until it’s healed, but speaks of our basic nature of being capable of forming more than one identity in healthy and unhealthy ways.

Jesus not only clarified some of how God is multiple persons in one (Father, Son, Spirit), but he was given to bring us into unity once again in Him. His prayer in John 17 was that “they may be one, Father, as you and I are one, that they may be one in us, that the world may know that you have sent me.” Jesus came to bring “many sons to glory” as the author of Hebrews writes, revealing that our design from the beginning was to be sons like Jesus, to be joined into the family of the Trinity, one with the Father like Jesus.

In Romans 5, Paul explains how all of mankind fell in Adam but was to be restored in Christ. Basically, the Father lost his son (Adam/mankind) who was created in his own image, meant to partake in oneness with the Trinity. God became alienated from parts of his own image and identity through broken relationship (division) and lost/separated identity (dissociation). Jesus, the exact image of God and the core identity of humanity, would be born on earth to restore all the fractured parts of mankind (individual people dissociated from their original source and purpose) back into one again.

Jesus came to heal us, to deliver us, and to restore us into, not only relationship with the Trinity, but oneness with the Trinity. When scripture says that we are “in Christ” and that he is in us, what could this mean but that we are one with him? Paul writes in 1 Corinthians, “he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with him,” relating that to the union between a man and a woman, where the two are tied together in spirit, soul, and flesh, becoming one. We are the body of Christ on earth, meaning that even our flesh has been joined to him through redemption. We have been given the mind of Christ as well.

The work of redemption is not only restoring mankind from fragmentation on this macro-scale, but is restoring God’s fragmented parts back to himself, since he identifies so intimately with us, declaring our experiences to be his experiences when he said, “as you have done it to the least of these, you have done it unto me.” On a micro-scale, the individual person made in his image, why would this be any different? We have found that, just as Isaiah 61 tells us that messiah would come to heal and bind together those who have been fractured into many pieces, restoration of fragmentation within individuals is a huge key to healing.

Finally, I want to share an excerpt of my writing from an upcoming book Diane and I are nearly ready to publish, which covers a more broad array of healing topics, focusing on the heart behind it all, “Divine Healing for Spirit, Soul, and Body”:

A common objection to this sort of ministry is that there isn’t a model for every part of it in scripture. I mean, where do you see Jesus having someone revisit their memories and hand over their emotions, or ministering to their fractured parts? Although we will be including scripture references and sometimes scriptural examples, it is true that more of what you typically see in the Bible are stories of someone saying, “Be healed!” and that’s all there is to it.

My response to this objection is that scripture was never meant to contain examples of everything we are to do. John 21:25 tells us “And there are also many other things which Jesus did, which if they were written in detail, I suppose that even the world itself would not contain the books that would be written.” The gospel accounts of Jesus’ healing ministry are only generalized representations; they don’t reveal everything he did. They say he healed multitudes in this place and that. They usually don’t say how.

Jesus commissioned his disciples to teach people to do everything he had done and taught (Matthew 28:20). He also said in John 16:12, near the end of his earthly ministry, that he had many more things to teach them which they weren’t yet ready for. He said that Holy Spirit would continue to lead them into all truth, to teach them beyond what Jesus himself had taught them. This means we can expect Holy Spirit to lead us into things beyond what is in the book.

Jesus said in John 14:12 that believers would do greater works than he. What if that means doing more complete healing than he did?

In Matthew 12:43, Jesus spoke of the generation of people he had healed and delivered in large numbers, saying that when an unclean spirit departs from a man it searches through dry places seeking rest and finding none, returns to the person it came out of with seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and so the last state of the man is worse than at first. He then said, “So shall it also be with this wicked generation” (KJV). His prediction came true about many of those he had healed and delivered. The same multitudes who Jesus had healed and delivered on a surface level soon turned on him and participated in the murderous work of the principalities and powers of darkness, shouting as one, “Crucify him!”

Even those Jesus poured into most during his time on earth (Peter and the other apostles) failed miserably in his final hours, revealing that they still had much healing and transformation to receive. Apparently, Jesus didn’t “totally heal and deliver” anybody in a five-second prayer, nor even through three years of discipleship.

What if one of the promised “greater works” is leading people into deeper healing, not just temporary relief of an issue on the surface such as a demon or a disease? What if literally removing the sins and driving woundedness from the hearts of the masses was one of the things Jesus had in mind for us, but which he didn’t have time to thoroughly accomplish in his own mission?

He was just getting the ball rolling in the right direction, showing a taste of what was possible, but not showing everything. It would then be our job to search out the wisdom of God and move into progressive revelation and experience over the ages. We have a living relationship with God, not just a closed book.

All these things we are talking about, healing emotions in memories, healing fractured parts, etc., are really only a matter of allowing the Lord access to the authentic content of our hearts so that he can help us where we truly are.

Keys to Healing and Transformation

“I’m in my late 30’s, and possibly not what you expect a “minister” to be. I’m not interested in having a ceremonial hat or fancy title. I’m very much into organic relationships and not so much into big organizations. I relate to people in a low-key manner and on equal footing. I’m not obsessed with “avoiding the appearance of evil.” (That’s an inaccurate translation anyway.)  I’m most at home with those who religion ostracizes, who don’t buy into every last line of the doctrine statements, who may be a little rough around the edges, who can be comfortable in their own skin, who aren’t paranoid of going to hell if they hear a cuss word or if they give someone “license” to stumble through a journey of discovery. Actually, I call that love.

Jesus has been very real in my life since a young age, and I could never be satisfied with a “normal” life that would make sense to most people. After all I’ve seen and been a part of, I must spend my life in his presence and for his cause. Nothing else compares. God has shown me that he IS love (as opposed to being that sometimes but becoming something else if his kids misbehave). He has met me and worked in my life despite my not having it all together in so many ways, so I also meet people where they are and simply bring life to them, without requiring them to conform to a standard.  I’ve always been a bit outside the box, and have struggled sometimes with not fitting into church and ministry crowds. While feeling like the unlikely one and the misfit far too often, I’ve found the Lord faithful to miraculously open doors for me and to accomplish many significant things beyond my wildest expectations.  I’ve come to love being a part of this journey.”

For those who are unfamiliar with Praying Medic, he has been a Paramedic for over three decades.  In 2000, while an atheist, he encountered Jesus in the bunk room of a fire station and that encounter radically changed the course of his life.  In 2008 the Lord spoke to him in a dream and told the Medic that He would heal his patients if he would be faithful to pray for them.  Praying Medic didn’t believe in healing at the time, but he began to pray.  In 2009 he began a blog, the Mobile Intensive Prayer Unit, to chronicle the work God was doing through healing and miracles around the world, as well as to share some of his own experiences of learning to move in healing and miracles.  Eventually he moved over to PrayingMedic.com.  After blogging for years, he published his first book in 2013 called Divine Healing Made Simple, and in 2016 he appeared on Sid Roth’s show Its Supernatural (the video is below).

He often writes about healing, but also covers dreams, deliverance, hearing God and seeing in the spirit, spiritual travel, politics and economics, and more.  He infrequently speaks at conferences and other training events, preferring to focus on writing books, podcasting, and now teaching online courses.

Angels from heaven, angels of protection, prophets and prophecy, signs wonders and miracles

Even Simple People Can Meet Angels

Today’s article features a guest, Author and Prophet Matthew Robert Payne, who shares on his considerable experience with angels:

If there is something that fascinates Christians it is the subject of angels. I had been writing books for a few years when I produced a book called My Radical Encounters with Angels: Angels in the Flesh, Angels of Protection and More! and I was overwhelmed when it quickly became a bestseller in the angel section of Amazon.

My first encounter with an angel was when I was fourteen years of age and I couldn’t get to sleep one night. I had never had an issue with getting to sleep so after and hour of trying to get to sleep I got up and told my mother. She got up and gave me a sleeping pill. I went to bed and waited another hour before waking my mother up again. She was not happy!

She gave me one more pill and said that I had already had more then an adult dose of the pills and that if I could not get to sleep, I should pray and if I can’t still get to sleep, I should read some books. I went to bed and after an hour I was upset that I couldn’t sleep. It was 12 pm and I had seven hours before my father was due to get up.

I asked Jesus, “What is my angel’s name Jesus?”

Jesus replied, “Michael.”

“Thanks Jesus,” I said.

I held out my arm and said to the air, “Michael hold my hand please!”

As soon as I said that, something like electricity shot up my arm and the next thing I knew was I was waking up in the morning.

Do you know I was simply a child? I wasn’t anyone special but I had child-like faith. I believed that my angel held the answer to my sleeping problem. My mother had told me she couldn’t help me anymore and faced with 7 hours of staying up I was desperate.

I would say they are keys that you can glean from this.

First you would need to have faith and is best to have child-like innocent faith.

And secondly it would be good for you to be in a situation that needed an angel.

At one time I was being taught different ways to prophesy. One method was to pray for an hour and then write down scripture references that the Holy Spirit would give me for a person and their situation. I would then cut and paste the scriptures and ask Jesus to please prophesy around the scriptures and make sense of them to a person.

Another way I prophesied was to speak in the third person and prophesy over a person. And yet another way I would say Jesus says: and then type what Jesus says directly in the first person to them. It was around this time that Jesus taught me a fourth way to prophesy.

One day I was sitting down to do a couple of prophecy requests and I saw an angel appear to me. He had a scroll in his hands. I asked him what he was here for and what was written on the scroll. He told me the scroll had two prophecies for the two people that I had to prophesy over.

I asked him what I needed to do.

He told me that I simply need to open a Word file and take dictation for each of the people. I opened the computer and opened a Word file and the angel simply told me the prophecies from Papa God word for word. It was really simple and easy to do it this way as I didn’t have to exercise any faith of have any doubt that it was coming out right.

These angels came often, mostly when I needed to prophesy and when God wanted me to mix it up a bit.

The lesson we can learn from that is that I did not need faith to bring these angels to earth, and the fact that these angels did not come just to entertain me, but they came with a purpose. Many angels come to you with a purpose, even if it is just to encourage you.

I have been introduced to four angels that work closely with me now. One of the angels is a female angel called Bethany. She is really sweet. She is the angel that gives me all the subjects for the books I write and she works with the Holy Spirit to give me the contents of the books.  I had been speaking to her and interacting with her for a few months and early this year I was thinking about her and speaking to her when I saw a picture of the actress Keira Knightly flash up on my minds eye like a vision. I asked her what this was about and she told me that she looks like Keira.

Its funny, that even though I have the gift of spiritual sight, I don’t often really focus in on the visions of mine. I have met Jesus over two hundred times in visions and only seen his face clearly on two occasions when he wanted to show me something where I was going to learn something. I can tell you what colour robe a person (saint) or Jesus or and angel is wearing and I can tell you anything they have in their hands but I don’t often focus on faces.

I am a simple man of faith. I have written two books on my encounters with angels and other things. You can read them cheaply as they are 99 cents on Amazon Kindle. They are titled My Radical Encounters with Angels: Angels in the Flesh, Angels of Protection and More!, and My Radical Encounters with Angels Book Two: Meeting Angels, Witches, Demons, Satan, Jesus and More!

The Rainbow Angel

Today’s blog features a guest writer, missionary Jonathan Brenneman, who is also a blogger and author.  In this article he shares some of his experiences learning about spiritual gifts, and an encounter he had with an angel during this process.

Impartation

It seems I have experienced the most impartation just by being around people who are exercising various gifts of the Spirit, seeing the gifts in action, and thanking God for them. Somehow, it seemed that this grace rubbed off on me and the same thing started to happen in my life.

When I first became involved in healing the sick, I spent many hours reading testimonies of healing. Sometimes I would read testimonies for three hours until I was either laughing or crying. It is important to thank God for the manifestations of the Holy Spirit, and to focus on the goodness of God that is revealed through those manifestations. That is the main point! There is a principle that whatever we thank God for tends to increase. We value what we are thankful for.
We should always thank God for whatever the Holy Spirit is doing. When our focus is on the work of the Holy Spirit, we are walking in faith. We grow strong in faith as we give thanks to God. When we are around other people who are exercising a specific spiritual gift, we can see how it blesses people and we begin to focus on what the Holy Spirit is doing in that area.

The Discernment Of Spirits

This was how the gift of discernment of spirits began to operate in my life. The gift of discernment of spirits allows us to sense, in some way, what is happening in the spiritual realm. This is often related to seeing how the Lord uses angels to minister to people. It can also show us when a demon is interfering in a person’s life, so that the demon can be rebuked and dealt with. This gift is the ability to see or feel spiritual things.

I met a young guy whose eyes had been opened to see angels. Some of what he said sounded a little strange, but I could see how it was blessing and encouraging people. It made me desire this gift in a greater way.

While he was speaking, I looked at the other side of the building and with my naked eye I saw a 40 foot long rainbow across the wall. Ten minutes later, this guy said that he saw a rainbow-colored angel in a certain place, and it was there to strengthen and encourage people to remember God’s promises. He asked people who felt discouraged to go and sit in the place where he saw this angel. As the people were sitting there, I again saw all the colors of the rainbow flash across the head of a man sitting there. God was working to encourage him.

That was the only time I saw something like this with my natural eyesight, but I became aware of the presence of angels in other ways. I would feel a wind blowing on part of my body which showed me where someone had a sickness or injury. People began to see angels around me or in my house. People I prayed for would feel a hand on their bodies even though I was not touching them, and they would be healed.

If you have never experienced the gift of discernment of spirits, you may easily wonder “What’s the point?” When I saw this gift in operation I understood how it encourages people and causes us to thank God for what he is doing. It can help us discern what God is doing so that we can pray in agreement with his will. It can show us when an evil spirit is harassing someone so that we can rebuke it. Seeing the gifts in operation helps us to understand and value what the Lord is doing through them.

Give Me Your Time

Today’s blog features a guest writer, author Rebecca Clayton.  She unveils some of the things God has revealed to her about dominion over time.  Read on!

It’s been a bit of a struggle to get this post done. I’ve been really busy lately and just never seemed to find the time, which is ironic because the subject is just that – time.  Over the last few years God has been talking to me, on and off, about time. How it works, and more importantly – that He can bend it, at will.

It began around 2009. I was in church one Sunday and we were singing “How great is our God.”  When we sang the line “Age to age stands, and time is in hands” God suddenly spoke to me.  “Give me your time, and I will multiply it – just as I did the little boy’s lunchbox.” No sooner had I written this in my journal than the speaker got up and said, “I wasn’t going to preach on this today, but I really feel like we should talk about the feeding of the 5,000!”

Over the next few years God and I talked about this, on and off. I was kind of stuck with the mindset that what He meant by “give me your time” was to spend more time focused on Him in worship and prayer. Of course that isn’t a bad thing but the problem is, it isn’t really me.  Try as I might, I’m just not the quiet, ordered contemplative type. I’m noisy and chaotic and full of new ideas. I also have three kids, a dog and a husband – time is at a bit of a premium in my life!  So I kind of got stuck, thinking that I couldn’t do what God wanted – give Him more of my time.

Then about 18 months ago, something started happening. The first time was one morning. The family had all gone to work and school for the day, and I had an appointment booked to call someone at 9am sharp on ministry business.  At about 8.50 am I thought I would do a couple of chores whilst I waited for the time to come.  I unloaded and reloaded the dishwasher, fed the dog, wiped all the kitchen worktops down…then I got a bit carried away and folded a huge of dry laundry and put it all away upstairs. As I was finishing this I remembered about the time and glanced at the kitchen clock.

It said 8.50. I panicked because thought that the kitchen clock had stopped and I must have missed my appointment – running to the lounge I checked the clock on the mantle – only to find that that, too said 8.50am!  I had completed around 30 minutes housework, but the clock had not moved.  As I marveled at this, God reminded me of those words He spoke to me years before — “Well, I did say that if you gave your time, I would multiply it.”

Rebecca Clayton

I was floored! In that moment He stripped away layers of religiosity that I didn’t even know I had built around my thinking. Giving God your time isn’t about religious service or meditation – it’s about acknowledging His Lordship over every area of your life and letting go of your anxieties about time.  Since that day I have often seen time “bend” – though so far, I have not been able to bend it when I choose. It’s as if it only happens when I’m not looking. My husband, however, made an accidental discovery recently.

One Saturday morning we decided to drive into the city for a spot of shopping. As we neared the outskirts of the city, the traffic slowed right down. It was around midday on a Saturday – so I wasn’t surprised.  “And it starts” I said – being a bit gloomy. No one likes sitting in traffic. My husband corrected me.

“No, we won’t get stuck – we will have a clear run.”  From that point on the traffic flowed smoothly. Not only were we in the centre no time, but there was no queue as we entered the multi-story car park – after we parked walked back past the entrance – there was a queue reaching back around fifteen cars!  As we continued our day – we noticed the pattern repeating – the queue for the changing rooms in the department store somehow evaporated just at the point we needed it. When we came out a few minutes later there was again a long line of shoppers waiting to try on clothes.  Similarly, throughout the day whenever we needed to go to the checkout – there was suddenly no one in line, where moments before there had been a long line – suddenly there was none.

At lunchtime when we went to a diner the waitress told us there was a ten-minute wait for a table – but was back to show us to our table within moments.  My husband – who’s not one for “fluff” –  was first to remark on this phenomenon we were experiencing. He firmly believes that his declaration in the car cleared the way for us as we moved around the city.

These experiences have permanently altered the way I think about time.  I used to have a stock phrase in moments of stress – “I don’t have time for this.”  God has been gently reminding me that in fact, I have the same amount of time as everyone else- perhaps more – it’s how I view it that counts – is it mine, or His? He has also been reminding me of the power of my declaration so if I catch myself saying, even just thinking, that do not have enough time – I quickly correct it by thanking God that He created time, and there is always enough – because time is infinite.

I’ve also been pondering this:  Jesus is the lamb slain before the foundation of the world. (Rev 13:8)

As a believer, we are one spirit with the Lord. He lives in us, and we live in Him. (1 Cor 6:17, Col 1:27)

So that means… that we also exist outside of time. Which might explain how people report phenomena like being in two places at once, for example.  Now, if I can just master what I am learning then my next guest post might not take so long to write.    😉

Dream Big, Joseph!

Today’s article is written by Tyler Johnson, Founder and Director of the Dead Raising Team (DRT) and One Glance Ministries.  I cannot speak more highly of his life and ministry.  Enjoy!

“I’ve been reading on Joseph. His life is astounding and many of us probably relate to his experience, especially pertaining to his family. The passage says that when his brothers saw him coming to them from afar, they said “Here comes this dreamer!” Clearly, Joseph had vision for something greater than what his brothers ever imagined. He caught a glimpse of his identity before God and it rocked him. He shared it out of excitement, which wasn’t a good idea. Joseph wasn’t expecting it, but him sharing backfired.

Many people in the Body of Christ get vision of who God intends them to be, briefly seeing the greatness God has planned for their lives. They step out and tell their family, friends, and mentors out of sheer excitement. These are the people that have walked beside them for years, have prayed for them to succeed, have been relationally faithful. In many ways, these are the people that a person would expect to celebrate with them. But just like Joseph, many times family and friends do not have the reaction that we expect. Instead of confirming the call of God upon our lives, they react. Despite the many years of knowing us and who we are, they suddenly get unsure about us. This is extremely disconcerting and confusing when it first happens. If this is you, hang in there and read on. You aren’t alone.

There are many reasons why this happens. Sometimes we have stepped outside of what they are comfortable with pertaining to relationship with God. Sometimes they simply threatened by the change God is implying upon our life because they just see the person as a younger brother, as in Joseph’s case. Condescension can be a guise for the desire to control, insecure, and even jealousy. See, prior to God gloriously messing up our lives, we all played a role in our families and friend’s lives that they had grown accustomed to for years. When that role and identity is challenged by God, people can react. That is okay! It is all a part of the show . . . even though it may not be very fun. Some of the most awkward conversations I have ever had where ones where I was telling family or friends about something wonderful that I had learned about God or something God did through me. The *last* thing you expect is for those conversations to go badly because you are so innocently excited about what God just did. Then suddenly, *BAM* the relational door slams shut and you are standing there on the doorstep of their life wondering what on earth you did. In fact, I have lost far more friendships over God doing something wonderful and me telling a friend because I was stoked than the (many) legitimate screw-ups that I have been responsible for.

Even Jesus went through this ridiculousness. JESUS. The people around Jesus said things like, “You are just the son of a carpenter from Nazareth! We know who you are!” They weren’t interested in Jesus excelling past their standards and vision. They tried to hold him to a certain mold and the moment they saw Him breaking it, they flipped out. When people can’t celebrate other people’s victories and destinies, all that is left for them to do is hold everyone else back from what they haven’t yet experienced personally. Christ’s own blood family thought he was nuts at more than one point, but very clearly at Mark 3:21; “He is out of his mind.”

Just as was true with Christ, our own family may straight up tell us that we aren’t hearing from God and to stop rocking the boat. Obeying God has a way of turning those against us that we were sure were for us no matter what. Sometimes it may not be that our family straight-up calls us crazy. Sometimes, because they know that their honest thoughts may hurt you, they may just keep their mouth closed and take on a tone and demeanor of apathy and indifference. They use the word, “Interesting” when you share, calmly smiling, quietly waiting for you to finish. This is the best they know to do, and that is okay too! This lack of support can be just as hurtful, but it needs to be remembered that the motive behind it is love. They don’t want to hurt you and are trying their best not to quell your excitement. People aren’t evil. . . they are just sorting through their own stuff and sometimes unintentionally let it leak onto you. What will convince your family and friends of what you are saying will not be your words but your lifestyle. Just start to live it and they will come around with time.

When we continue to love those that don’t understand what God is doing in our life is when we start to embody the very thing God is calling us into. Be the bigger person and take the higher road. Offense can be imparted; Don’t take it on. The point is that if *God Himself* caught flack for expressing the truth of who He was, then surely you will too. If you haven’t caught flack for who you are in the eyes of God, you probably have either heard from God of who you are and haven’t told anyone yet, or it has yet to be revealed to you. You know when you are stepping into your destiny when you start to catch flack simply for obeying what God is telling you to do. Jesus promised persecution. Hardship shouldn’t cause us to back off but lean even more into God.

At this point some people actually back off and give up on what God was telling them. I have seen it so many times. In fact, I have seen it so many times that I sometimes get concerned when a person gets great vision for their lives prior to having intimacy with God and being grounded in strong character. This is because if a person doesn’t know how to run into the love of God when the fire and brimstone starts being heaved at them by people, they won’t make it long. Their experience becomes a pillar of crumbling salt they look back upon rather than becoming the thing God told them they could become. Not long after Joseph gets sold off to the enemy by his own family, completely abandoned and forsaken by everyone he knows, he is taken to Egypt. There, away from his family and friends in a foreign place, God exalts him to the place He intends for Joseph. God’s favor was not something that was dictated by his family and friends agreeing with him.

God’s favor is unstoppable; it hunts down God’s sons and daughters and moves mountains to make what God said come to fruition. He will do the same for you. If family and friends don’t celebrate God’s intended plans for a person, He will quickly move the person to a place where others do. God will not allow the gift inside someone to die simply because family and friends can’t understand how someone could ascend to such heights. God is too loving to let this happen because the gift inside is meant for anyone that is hungry for it, and God won’t let that go to waste for the sake of the hungry. If you want to keep those around you close, celebrate their victories and vision.

Egypt gets a bad rap, but at least they recognized Joseph’s value . . . something Joseph’s own family failed to do. Surround yourself with people that think the way God does about you. When family or friends buck your heart or vision, just love them. If they are right, loving them is the correct response. If they are wrong, loving them is the correct response. The only one that can sabotage God’s plans is you. You are powerful. God’s plans are bigger for you than you or anyone else could grasp. Dream big, you dreamer.”

Today’s article is written by a guest, Jack Spencer, who is a husband, father, and organic church leader.

Have you ever thought: why did God enable us to have children?  The first reason is that we image God (Gen 1:27). So just as our Three-in-One God created life in His image, a husband and a wife get to create life in their image (see Gen 5:3).  The second reason is that the marriage of a husband and wife is actually a prophetic declaration of the Trinity and so we represent the child’s first understanding of the nature of God.  But the third reason only came to me when God crashed into my reality:

I work full time, lead a church, run a ministry, have four children and a disabled wife. So to say my life is stretched is an understatement. So the weekend is often the time to catch up on all the house jobs that my wife can’t do and I don’t have time to do in the week…but the funfair had come to town and the kids wanted to go.

I didn’t. For me it was yet another job to do. So as I was taking them (which I knew was the right choice) I was less than gracious and I moaned to the Father that I needed help as I wasn’t in any fit state to show them love and teach them about how loving He is. His response caught me off guard:

“I didn’t give you children for you to teach them, I gave you children to teach you.”

Sorry God? What do you mean teach me? What could they teach me?

child learning

He was wisely silent. So I was forced to ponder what He was saying.  We know that Jesus said we have to be like children to enter the kingdom (Mt 18:3), that the kingdom belongs to such as children (Mt 19:14) and that they are the greatest in the kingdom (Mt 18:4), but somehow we try and twist it to pick up one character quality that is acceptable to us adults.

Why? Because we still think that we’re better than them – after all we know more. We forget that children are equal (and indeed greater) partners in the Kingdom of God that doesn’t recognise things like age or importance. So perhaps we’re missing the really obvious:            Children are really good at being children.

So I watched my children at the funfair and I chose to learn from them. I learnt that they had a lot of fun as they enjoyed the rides without a care in the world. And that brought me such joy.

I’ve forgotten how to play and I’ve forgotten how to be carefree. As the old adage goes:           “We don’t stop playing because we get old; we get old because we stop playing.”

I heard of someone who went to a Bethel course and was mortified that one of their sessions was a trip to the mall to play hide-and-seek. But if you are prepared to humble yourself and play games with your children you will discover something that you have forgotten – the joy and fun of being carefree in the Presence of a good Father who holds everything in His hands.

Sometimes our seriousness is actually a smokescreen for taking on worries that should be left with the One who can actually do anything about it.  Do yourself a favor. If you have children, take some time to play tea-parties, board games, GI Joe. Not for their sake but for yours.   And discover the Father’s joy.

To the Tune of 432(hz)

This week The Kings of Eden features a guest blogger, Del Hungerford.

People ask me how I became interested in changing the tuning of my instruments to A=432. The other questions that tend to come my way involve what I think about the ancient solfeggio frequencies and how frequencies can be used in healing music. I’ll try weaving an acceptable short answer for your reading pleasure. With that, my name is Del, and I’m here to take you on a journey of musical frequencies! Enjoy!

I first became interested in how music affects the body while doing some research for a survey of music course that I teach. I ran across an ABC news interview with percussionist Evelyn Glennie. She’s profoundly deaf and “hears” pitches through her body. By performing barefoot, she can feel the vibrations through the floor. As she performs, her body vibrates differently for each musical pitch. It’s the same for all of us but because we hear notes, we don’t necessarily pay attention to how our bodies resonate with every musical pitch.

Being that I’m also into natural healing techniques, I’m aware that our bodies have resonant frequencies. Those pesky little diseases that love to latch onto us also have frequencies. Basically, everything has a resonant frequency; some good, and some bad. Determining what’s most helpful appears to be an ongoing debate. Taking a look at similarities throughout history, in math, in measurements, in our calendar, and within the earth and the cosmos, I decided there was enough evidence to determine that tuning to A=432 may actually bring our bodies to a place where they’re not having to compete with the many dissonant frequencies surrounding us.

I have several articles and blog posts on my site, Healing Frequencies Music, where I delve into the wonderful world of musical frequencies. For more specific information, I encourage you to check those out. In addition, those who sign up for my newsletter get small blurbs about “all things frequency” with some fun experiments to try!

I went to a conference in 2014 where I heard David Van Koevering speak about quantum physics in relation to music and Kingdom stuff. In his presentations, he continuously mentioned the importance of intent, which is another word for “purpose.” Our purpose behind doing something is very important and through quantum physics, David showed us way down at the molecular level, intent is very obvious and “goes into” what we do.

What does this have to do with music? When a musician sits down to record or perform, there’s intent behind it. That intent goes into the music (both instrumental and vocal) and then is “heard” by the body. Thoughts even have frequency and that’s all recorded in music. So, the short answer for those who desire to listen to music recorded with the ancient solfeggio frequencies… pay attention to the intent of the musician recording the music. You’ll then have a better idea if that music is helpful for you.

What may work for one, may not work for another. I chose to record my music at A=432 instead of the solfeggio frequencies because I felt that matching natural frequencies within the earth was important for use in general healing music. How did I come to this conclusion? Again, too many similarities between math and music, general measurements, the cosmos, our calendar, and actual frequencies in the earth appear to point towards a natural concert pitch of A=432.

As an example of how our bodies seem to like the A=432 concert pitch, it became apparent that our singing voices tend to gravitate towards notes within that concert pitch. I have an article on my website devoted to a little experiment I did with YouTube videos. In all the videos, people tend to naturally sing at or very close to notes within the A=432 concert pitch when not given a starting pitch on a keyboard or pitch pipe. That sealed the deal for me in choosing A=432 when I recorded the “Prophetic Musical Journey.” (Link to that article: http://www.healingfrequenciesmusic.com/frequency-research/singing-at-a432/)

3D-Colorful-Music-Notes-520x325

My goal as a musician who loves God with every fiber of my being, is to be able to present music that flows prophetically through me and into the listener. My intent is that of my Father whom I believe speaks His heart through my fingers. I often have no clue what I’m doing when I record music because I play as the Holy Spirit directs. My “Prophetic Musical Journey” (http://www.healingfrequenciesmusic.com/music-store/) was completely recorded simply by tuning into what Papa was saying through specific musical frequencies. In a way, I believe that when this music is played, it’s releasing the revelation of who God is into the atmosphere. For every individual who listens, that revelation will be different. It may bring healing emotionally, physically, or even spiritually depending on what the listener needs at that moment. Then, the next time you listen, you may get something different. It will also be the same for other types of healing music.

In closing, I do believe it’s important to pay attention to what we “put into” our bodies. That includes what we listen to, what we read, our conversations, what we watch on TV, etc. If the solfeggio frequencies work for you, then be sure the performer’s intent matches your desire. You may also find that you’ll really not like a tune and then all of a sudden, you do. That’s because your body needs the vibrational frequency of that music at that moment. So, pay attention to how your body resonates with the music you listen to.

My musical story in a flash:  I was trained as a classical clarinetist in a conservatory and played professionally in a variety of venues for several years while teaching in the public schools and then eventually, at the collegiate level once I completed my doctorate. In addition, I played keyboard on at least 17 praise teams. I have been told by the “church” that those who are classically trained struggle hearing from God musically because we’re too glued to the music. Thus began my adventure in learning how to flow in the Spirit.  My Prophetic Musical Journey (five CD’s) is a result of what my Father in Heaven has taught me. I hope that you will enjoy taking this prophetic musical journey with me! CD’s can only be purchased from www.healingfrequenciesmusic.com and downloads are available on the site as well as through iTunes.
