When The Lights Go Out

I’m not so much afraid of the darkness itself, but I do get bothered by those spirits which seem to prefer to roam about in it.  Often at night, especially when the moonlight is not strong, I close the curtains.  The evil spirits that roam about make me uncomfortable, and sometimes I feel they congregate near the windows of the house just to bother me.  Thus, I draw the blinds.  Closing the curtains doesn’t make the nighttime spirits go away, but it makes it so I don’t notice them as easily.  I can’t possibly try to fight every spirit that comes out, so I find it far easier to ignore the things that appear when the lights go out.

One of the most perplexing observations I have made to date about things spiritual is that evil spirits are more active at night.  Certainly most tales of myth and lore agree with this, and if you speak to almost any child he or she is far more afraid during the nighttime hours than during the day.  In fact, even adults are more fearful after the sun goes down than when it is high in the sky, but the subject rarely comes up.  After all, what adult wants to admit to being afraid of the dark?

It is a curious thing, and one I have always wondered about.  The best explanation I can give is that the energy from sunlight has a restraining effect on evil spirits, and while far less-so with moonlight, a full moon is a better time to be out and about at night than during a new moon when no sunlight is reflected back upon us.  The first chapter of Genesis reveals some interesting insight into this matter.

Genesis 1:14-19 says, “And God said, “Let there be lights in the vault of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark sacred times, and days and years, and let them be lights in the vault of the sky to give light on the earth.” And it was so. God made two great lights—the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars.  God set them in the vault of the sky to give light on the earth, to govern the day and the night, and to separate light from darkness. And God saw that it was good.  And there was evening, and there was morning—the fourth day.”

I find it very interesting, and telling, that the sun and moon have three main functions as laid out in 1:18—to give light, govern the day and night, and to separate light from darkness.  At first glance, these would appear awfully redundant, but I think they are talking about different things.  The first is a physical function—giving light.  The second is a matter of authority—denoting what these celestial bodies are responsible for, and what they govern.  The third suggests that they act as some sort of boundary or dividing line, separating light from darkness.  If we consider this, I suppose it becomes less surprising that evil spirits would be less overtly active during the day, because the sun has separated them as being from the darkness.  At night, especially when the moon and its illuminating powers are at a lull, the forces of darkness and all manner of evil spirits are left either very minimally restrained or totally unrestrained.

I used to imagine vampires were outside my third-floor bedroom window when I was a kid, and even as a teenager.  I didn’t believe they existed, I didn’t watch horror movies, and I had no understanding of visions, yet I would unintentionally imagine them from time to time anyway.  The thing was that when I would see them in my imagination, I was always totally creeped out by them, and would often leave my room and go downstairs where other people were—even though I thought myself silly for doing it.

As an adult, I discovered those vampires I used to imagine were very real, and when those images would come into my imagination it wasn’t because I was creating them or summoning them to me.  Rather, I was simply observing that which was already there.  The imagination isn’t a land of pure fantasy—it is the canvas of our mind by which our consciousness perceives spiritual reality.  If you find the darkness uncomfortable, you aren’t alone.  I suspect there are many people out there like me—those who are disturbed by the spirits that come out after the sun goes down.  You aren’t simply being bothered by things you imagine, but rather those things you see in your imagination are very real.

I haven’t figured out a good solution as of yet.  Certainly prayer helps, in theory, but as I said, I don’t have the time and energy to try to deal with every single thing that goes bump in the night in the wide world, so I tend to focus on those that I see inside the house, and those outside get the curtains drawn.  What do you do to help deal with unwelcome spirits when the lights go out?

Energy, vibration, and frequency are gaining added focus as new information about quantum fields come to light, and as new technologies are developed.   Many who are spiritually hungry from all backgrounds and belief systems seek deeper understanding of these topics as they seek to deepen their spiritual growth and experience God in fullness.   For those who are new to this realm, the massive quantity of information out there can be daunting, but it doesn’t have to be.  When broken down into various parts, the entirety of the picture can be understood more easily, and the inseparable interchange between science and spirituality can be more clearly grasped.

The first best-place to go to understand the spiritual nature of vibration and quantum stuff is found in the Bible in Hebrews 1:3a.  In the NIV it states “The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word.”   There are a couple words that should jump out in this verse:  radiance, sustaining, powerful, and word.

Radiance involves emanation of light.  Sustenance is to continually maintain or keep someone or something alive or ongoing.  Powerful means filled with virtue or energy or capacity (lit. power-filled).  A ‘word’ is either written or is a vocalization, and in this case it seems to refer to spoken words.  Thus a ‘word’ here is in fact a release of frequencies of sound that are sent forth from the sender.

If this were all put together and the meanings fed back into the verse, it says something a bit more profound and instructive than at first glance.  “The Son, Jesus, is the emanating outward of light of God’s glory, and perfectly represents him.  He continually maintains and keeps alive all things by the ability that is filled with virtue and overflowing with energy which is released through a series of vibrations at varying frequencies that he sends forth from himself always.”

Said a little more simply, Jesus’s continual release of energy holds the fabric of the universe together and keeps all things alive and in existence.  The corollary being that if for even one moment Jesus stopped releasing the energy that sustains the universe, all things would cease to exist.  That doesn’t mean everyone would simply die, but the matter would not actually BE anymore.  It would be NOT.  It would be as it was in the Beginning when God was all that there was, because nothing had been spoken into being yet.

It is no strange thing then that when God created the heavens and the earth that He did it by speaking.  Those who wrote the Bible maybe only saw a portion of what that entailed, but science gives us some interesting insight into this.  First, understand that fields of science have discovered that everything that exists vibrates unceasingly, from the largest building to the smallest sub-atomic particle.  While one might feel like they are sitting still at times, all of the particles of the body are constantly in vibratory motion all of the time.  Absolute Zero is a theoretical temperature that is so cold that matter would cease to vibrate.  It is thought that if one were to get an object at that temperature, the minute subatomic fabric of its makeup would literally fall apart such that it would no longer exist.  It is still a theory because no one has yet reached it, but it is likely an impossibility, knowing what Hebrews 1:3 says — that Jesus is constantly releasing energy into all things to keep them from ceasing to vibrate.   This instantly negates the ‘clockmaker’ theory of creation, in that God didn’t just make humanity and the world just to leave it all alone, but is moment by moment sustaining the existence of each and every single person whether they are aware of it or not.

So what does all this mean for one’s daily life?  That depends on how deep one wants to go.  To start off simply, look at the eyes and the ears – physical organs responsible for sight and hearing/sound.  They both sense information on different wavelengths of the Electromagnetic Spectrum.  On this spectrum are included visible light, infrared light, microwaves, Ultraviolet light, x-rays, microwaves, and radio waves.  There are likely far more wavelengths than the types listed here – ones that are yet to be measured with scientific instruments, but these are the common types of frequencies of the earth.

The visible and audible spectra are not actually somehow different things, but simply different wavelengths of energy.  Eyes function because they take in certain wavelengths of light and translate them into meaningful images.  Ears work because they take in certain wavelengths of sound and translate them into meaningful noises.  Vocal chords work because they vibrate at particular wavelengths and produce certain levels of sound based on how long or short the chords are at the time of vibration.  All of these are examples of the body’s response to different frequencies, but all are just parts on a continuum of energy vibrations.

Medical science has found various uses for these different frequencies as well.  Because living tissues vibrate at a different wavelength from nonliving things, medical procedures can be safely performed using various frequencies.  For example, using certain wavelengths kidney stones can be broken up into smaller pieces that the body can safely expel, a process called lithotripsy, without harming the surrounding tissues.  A machine called an ultrasound uses sonic wavelengths to visualize organs through other tissue – most commonly uses to look at babies in the womb and to look at the flow of blood vessels without actually having to cut the body open to visualize them directly.  MRIs, X-rays, and CAT scans are other machines that use different wavelengths of energy as well, and they can help diagnose problems such as tumors, brain bleeding, broken bones, lung diseases, and any number of other issues within the body.

Common western medical sciences are not the ONLY ones who have found use for frequencies.  Flower and Gemstone Essences and therapeutic essential oils use the frequencies of various plants and plant products to encourage the body toward greater health, supporting and even providing the body with healing frequencies that can be used to balance harmful frequencies, or in some cases remove and resolve them entirely.  There are also devices that are used all around the world (but often not accepted in the U.S. due to the medical mafia) that use frequencies for healing, and these do not require the invasive procedures such as surgical cutting and burning of tissues that often accompanies Western medical ‘cures’.

Another type of frequency-based technology that assists with the body and health/healing largely fall under the umbrella of EMF-shields.  EMF stands for Electromagnetic Frequency, and these frequencies are very harmful to living tissues.  Computers, cell phones, and even refrigerators emit EMFs, and this has caused a significant decline in the overall health of the developed world.  It is almost impossible to evade an increasing number of high-quantity EMFs as more cell towers and wireless internet signals are erected around the globe, in workplaces, and even in homes.  Over time, these EMFs wear down the body’s internal energy fields and make the individual weaker and more vulnerable to every kind of stressor – both physical and emotional.    There are many products out there that also help augment the body’s energy field and help it protect itself from harmful frequencies from all of the electromagnetic items in our world.  While there are many out there, however, not all provide the same benefits, and not all have the same level of R&D behind them.

One of the reasons that this is even a physical need for humans is that the body has a similar electromagnetic field to that of the earth.  And if some thought is given, this makes a lot of sense – the body is constructed from the earth itself.  Even the Bible has said it — “You are dust, and to dust you shall return.”   The human body is made of literal organic elements which can be found in abundance throughout the earth.  However, much manmade technology such as cell phones, radio towers, wireless internet, computers, cars, battery-powered watches, and more create this electromagnetic pollution that degrades the personal energy field and creates openings for sickness and disease.

In the past, the concept of ‘vibration’ has been dominated primarily by non-Christian religious groups and has largely been ignored by all but those on the fringe of the science world, but as time marches forward, all of those barriers are breaking down.  As this happens, new inventions are being made, and even new music is being produced.  For instance, there is a CD that is now on the market titled “Abundant Human Elements” which is a CD of music that has been made with resonant frequencies of the 13 most common atoms in the physical body.  As one listens to the music and is in its proximity, the body is able to more closely match those frequencies in every place where the body’s atomic signal has wavered.  What this means is that this music actually helps heal on the atomic level from damage caused by electromagnetic pollution and even negative emotions, and all one has to do is listen to it to get the benefit!

A man named Len Horowitz did a lot of research into the frequency of 528 hz and has declared it to be the frequency of ‘love’, and a frequency that causes literal DNA repair.  Another notable frequency is that of 432 hz.  Research on either will uncover new and interesting details about music that has largely gone un-taught at least in the Western world, and many people are now changing the frequency of the music they listen to in order to match their music to one of the above two wavelengths for greater health and overall better life.  For those who are interested in learning more, google search Len Horowitz, 528 hz, Solfeggio, and 432 hz, or go to the Friends of Eden links on the right side column and visit ‘Sound that Heals’.

In the same way that these frequencies have physical value for our daily life, they can also have spiritual value as well.  Take one’s thoughts, for instance.  Thoughts are actually scientifically proven to emit wavelengths of energy.  If someone were to know how to READ those wavelengths, they would be literally reading one’s thoughts.  In heaven, where all thoughts are laid bare and nothing is hidden from one another, mind-reading is a normalcy.  Angels and demons communicate in this way as well.  In the blog post “They’re Not Your Thoughts” one can read about experiences where people have had negative thoughts and at some point in time realized that it wasn’t just them doing that thinking, but rather that demons that were putting thoughts in their minds.  More than just ‘thought insertion’, these spirits literally release negative wavelengths of thought and the human spirit picks up on those vibrations, turning them into real thoughts in the mind.  People then blame themselves for this darkness and negativity and even depressing thinking though they are their own thoughts, when in reality they aren’t coming from them in the first place.

Negative thoughts are not the only thought-frequencies at work.  Positive thoughts and feelings vibrate at a different set of frequencies than negative thoughts and feelings, and at a higher level.  Science has proven that the higher vibrations of positive thoughts have marked health benefits, while lower vibration from negative thoughts and even emotions can cause harm to the body.  It is not for no reason that Philippians 4:8-9 states “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.  Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.”  It is this very fact, that lifegiving thoughts have even earthly health value, which promotes peace in one’s life and environment.  Studies from people such as Masaru Emoto and his ‘Messages in Water’ series prove that our thoughts and beliefs don’t just affect our own selves, but our surrounding environment.  If positive thoughts and feelings bring life to the body then they will also bring life to those around one as well.  There is an author named Gregg Braden who speaks of this in his book titled The Spontaneous Healing of Belief.

While thought life is very important, and continuous thoughts over time start to develop pathways in the brain that promote those kinds of thoughts, there is more value spiritually than just addressing ones thoughts.  Many people actually discern spiritual activity via frequencies.  There are some people, myself included, who even get a ringing sound in their ears at times when there is some sort of spiritual activity taking place.  There is a sensation of a change in atmospheric pressure somehow just outside the ear canal, then an audible high pitched ringing sound is heard.  The pitch and volume vary from occurrence to occurrence, and it can happen in either ear or both.  There is still very little that is understood about this phenomenon,  such as what the differences in volume and pitch mean, but this is conclusively not the same as the medical condition tinnitus.

So what does one DO with all this energy and vibrations information now that it has been gained? Many are trying to sort out just that very thing.  It is proven that certain frequencies perfectly match the brain waves that we put out at different stages of consciousness – alpha, beta, theta, and delta waves.  People have made machines and even music that utilize these frequencies (or lower, corresponding resonant frequencies in the audible range) to help train the mind to go into specific states more easily, and this can be used to some effect in meditation for both health and spiritual uses.  As understanding expands, this also tends to lead people into other energy-related fields and the issue of the ‘energy field’ comes up.

Many different groups have many different terms for this energy field —  aura, energy field, biofield, Luminous Energy Field, magnetic field, and more, but  whether one calls it an aura or a biofield doesn’t in any way alter the nature of what it is and what it does – function as an integral part of ones being.  The physical body, as mentioned earlier, also is influenced by its electromagnetic field (part of the overall energy field) and that of other things around it.  In fact, everything that exists has its own energy field due to everything vibrating at its own frequencies.  Interacting with other energy fields – both of objects and other living things, alters ones life in often-subtle ways.  Even being in physical proximity to another person causes the natural overlapping of energy fields, and the quantum transfer of data from one field to another.  The positive and negative thoughts and emotions discussed above are also transferred at this time, and in such a way it is possible to influence someone without ever saying a single word to them.  Given that this is an influencing factor in daily life, whether aware or unaware, it is no surprise that cultivation and care of that energy field has become an increasing focus in the Western world.

Some Eastern cultures, such as the Indians and Chinese, have developed physical practices that help the body function better and work with this energy field.  The Indians have developed a method of medicine called Ayurveda.  This method focuses on working with the body as a whole to put it in a sort of energy-balance and to correct imbalances.  Chinese medicine does the same, but uses a different set of theory.  There are also myriads of meditation practices such as Qigong, Tai Chi, Yoga, and others that help promote energy-field health.  Whether looking at Indian or Chinese practices, however, both agree on one key point:  that the body has centers and areas of energy within the body that influence its function.  Ayurveda refers to these energy centers as Chakra and Chinese medicine refers to them as Meridians, also understood as lines of energy coursing through the body.  They are a lot like blood vessels, lymph, or the nervous system, but with energy instead of physical tissue.  Acupuncture, shiatsu, and reflexology all operate using these lines of energy and help the body process out and resolve frequencies that promote disease and in their place promote health and vitality.

There are other ways we can make use of these healing energies as well.  Some people wear certain crystals or gemstones for health.  The reason this works is that the stones each give off a certain set of frequencies on an ongoing basis, and those frequencies are purportedly healthy for whatever condition that person is addressing.  Many precious or semi-precious stones carry frequencies that have an emotional-healing component as well.  In various “New Age” circles and among those who practice witchcraft, certain stones may be used in rituals and spells due to the way that they help carry or alter frequencies and store power and energy for spell work, but that is obviously not a practice I recommend.  Nevertheless, the reason people use stones for these practices is precisely because they have influence on the natural realm through the various frequencies they carry.  This issue of whether stones can be used for healing isn’t a matter of right or wrong from a religious perspective, but is a simple fact in that all creation vibrates, and God has put healing frequencies in many of the plants, stones, and other objects in this world, all of which are for our benefit.  The Kings of Eden has collaborated with Freedom Flowers to develop a line of Divine Gem Essences to help capture the healing frequencies in certain gemstones and release them to the world.

Pursuing Maturity in Traveling in the Spirit

Recently a moderately well-known Charismatic minister has been speaking up about problems he sees in the world of Christian spirit travel, courts of heaven teaching, and similar. His specific accusations and/or concerns don’t really matter for the sake of my discussion here, but I did observe something in the overall approach that has had me thinking about what it is we actually NEED regarding this subject. I’ve realized what we need is to be pursuing maturity in traveling in the spirit.

Most often what I see when people are in opposition to any of this business is that it either isn’t biblical, Jesus never did it, it’s an occult teaching, etc. Actually, none of the above statements are true, as I explain in my book The Beginner’s Guide to Traveling in the Spirit. In reality, if we boil the objections down to their common denominator, or in the case of proponents, the benefits, it is ultimately a matter of whether one is for or against the subject.

The problem with such polarization is that things are rarely all good or all bad, and when we simplify spirit travel down to a good-bad response, we miss the mark. The matter people need to be concerned about is NOT whether one should or should not spirit travel, but whether the movement is MATURE or not.

I can say without a doubt that traveling in the spirit has not, to date, reached maturity. I can also conclusively say that the movement is in the process of maturation, so it will eventually get there, and there are men and women whom God is raising up to help steward this and bring it forward. For those who aren’t aware, I would like to review some of the common areas where one can walk in either maturity or immaturity, to open up the discussion on this subject further.

Ethics:

The topic of ethics in spirit travel is not, I find, often discussed, or if so, it is not labeled as such. If we are going to continue to pursue spirit travel, and teach and train others to do so, we need to have guiding principles that help us use this ability appropriately. I caution against people setting up actual hard-and-fast rules, as God is not interested in legislating morality, nor is God interested in creating firm guidelines, as He is likely to be the first to tell us to break them under the right circumstances. Rather, we must be ruled and guided by love in our spirit interactions, and we must encourage and remind one another to continue to walk in such a way as we move forward.

Protocols:

There are a growing number of spiritual protocols people use, especially when engaging in what is known as the Heavenly Courts, or the Courts of Heaven. Protocols can be very useful, providing a framework for how to progress in heavenly court interactions. On the other hand, they can be extremely restrictive if we let them, moving from helpful guidelines into rigid to-do lists that must be completed just-so for fear of a negative outcome. Any protocol, whether for physical healing, spirit travel, inner healing and deliverance, or anything else, must ultimately work for us, not us work for it. There is a definite danger in using protocol that we can shift into legalism with these practices, so it is wise to be aware of the risks and be vigilant in our hearts, so we can continue to reap the benefits without any unintended consequences.

Groupthink:

Another risk we face associated with spirit travel, especially with the popularity of various teachers who teach and train on these topics, is the issue of groupthink. This is essentially how cults are formed—people have a set of “accepted” teachings and beliefs, and as they gather in groups with others who share their mindset, they begin to put emotional pressure on anyone who does not adhere rigidly in thought or action to those beliefs. I have seen this issue beginning to crop up in certain places where spirit travel is a subject of importance, which is why I mention it here. While I don’t believe most people engaging this related to traveling in the spirit do it intentionally, it is still a problem. In truth, we run this risk anytime God brings new and exciting revelation along. People get fired up about what God is doing and want to share it with others. As groups of people get on board, and especially as people work to help shepherd and guide others, we risk moving from open guidance into rigid control. Groupthink has a greater potential to grow in any environment where a leadership attempts to guide the beliefs and ideas of a group. While most organizations fall into the “potential risk” category, it is important that we self-police moving forward to ensure we who practice traveling in the spirit do not allow this unhealthy behavior in.

One-Size-Fits-All

Traveling in the spirit is an amazing ability, with the ability to experience an incredibly diverse spiritual world. As we move forward, we have to remember that the spiritual realms are far more diverse than we can imagine. The same God who is capable of such diversity is capable of a myriad of solutions to life’s problems. It is vital that we remember that while the Courts of Heaven are a very good and helpful tool to address life’s issues, the Courts are not the *only* tool. While this might seem obvious at first, there is a growing undertone of comments and interactions that seem to suggest some people believe the Courts are the solution to all of life’s problems. The truth is that if all you have is a hammer, then every problem must become a nail, whether it actually is one or not. The Heavenly Courts do not have the ability to fix every problem, but they do have the ability to address many problems. We must continue to learn and grow, as well as diversify our tool chest, so to speak, of solutions to life’s problems. We cannot reasonably expect that the Courts are the solution to everything because they simply are not, and as such we would be wise to conduct ourselves accordingly.

These are just a few areas where maturity and growth is needed, and I expect it will continue over time. As mentioned previously, we can separate the matter of traveling in the spirit into a polarizing issue of for-or-against, but we would be wise to avoid such unfruitful arguments. Instead, if we are able to help steward this movement into greater maturity, many of the dissident voices will simply fall away.

5 Myths about Spirit Travel

Traveling in the Spirit is a gift or ability that has gradually become more widely known in the past decade in Charismatic-leaning circles. For those who are unfamiliar, it involves engaging the spiritual realms by way of one’s soul or spirit. In spite of the many advances we have made in this area, there is still significant controversy over this subject. Many still have concerns, ranging from notions of witchcraft and deception to it simply being a worthless and/or unhelpful practice. The more I engage this subject in conversation with others, the more I discover just how many misconceptions are still out there, some of which still take me by surprise. I will cover some of the most basic myths here, but if you want to learn more, check out my book The Beginner’s Guide to Traveling in the Spirit.

 

1) It’s not in the Bible

Spirit Travel is found in multiples of places in Scripture and has been performed, sometimes regularly, by multiple well-known Biblical figures, including Elisha the Prophet (2 Kings 5:22-26), Paul the Apostle (1 Corinthians 5:3, Colossians 2:5), and John the Revelator (Revelation 1:10). In fact, based on some of Jesus’ encounters, such as those with Nathaniel under the fig tree (John 1:48) and the disciples struggling on the lake (Mark 6:47-48), it is highly probable he also engaged in spirit travel. Ephesians 1:3 states that we have received blessings in heavenly places, and Ephesians 2:6 states that we are already seated in the heavens, proving we have the right of access to travel in the spirit.

 

2) It is an occult practice

Spirit Travel is neither occult nor Christian, per se. It is an innate ability God has put within all humans at creation. The mechanism by which one spirit travels is basically the same regardless of whether one is a believer or not, but the actual means by which one does this differs somewhat. What most people confuse traveling in the spirit with is the occult practice of astral projection. There are some obvious similarities between Christian spirit travel and occult astral projection, but likewise there are equally clear differences, the main differences being that spirit travel can be done while awake and not in a trance, and does not require the use or maintenance of a silver cord, a spiritual “lifeline” tether to the physical body that is present in all occult astral projection.

 

3) It will lead you away from God

Theoretically, anything can lead you away from God. Marriage can lead one away, kids, work, even ministry, provided one gets busy enough that he or she loses sight of priorities. Spirit travel in and of itself is incapable of leading one astray any more than anything else. If one were to simplify it to its most simple form, it could be considered a form of prayer, and prayer rarely leads one away from God; on the contrary, it usually helps draw one closer to Him. This is a straw-man argument, and its ability to lead astray has nothing to do with the practice itself, and everything to do with the heart condition of the one doing it.

 

4) Jesus never did it, so I don’t need to either.

As mentioned in Myth 1, it is quite probable that Jesus actually did travel in the spirit. While the verses that describe his spiritual activity are somewhat inconclusive, the information he gleaned, and the way the passages are written, seems very much as though he witnessed the events as compared to simply getting a word of knowledge about them. If the plumbline and/or deciding factor for someone is whether Jesus did it or not, then spirit travel certainly cannot be ruled out as a Godly spiritual practice.

 

5) If you practice spirit travel, you will get deceived.

This practice carries no guarantee of deception any more than any other spiritual practice. While some might argue that it puts one more “out on a limb” than other spiritual disciplines, it is possible to become steeped in deceptive beliefs simply by studying scripture. In fact, entire cults have formed around someone who found a scripture they ran away with into gross error.
Even more to the point, what makes us think we are not already walking in deception? The scary thing about deception is that we cannot recognize it while we are inside it, and typically must be pulled out by an external force, which usually is the Holy Spirit. We have to remember that God’s ability to keep us is always greater than the enemy’s ability to deceive us, and because He is our Counselor and Guide, we can trust Him to faithfully do just that.  On the other hand, walking out spirit travel encounters with discernment is a must, but then, what makes us think we shouldn’t walk out all of life the same way?

 

In closing, we must remember that traveling in the spirit is no different than any other spiritual discipline. As we do it, we are to engage God in the process, walk with wisdom and discernment, and we will invariably see the fruit as we do so. When we fail to rightly discern, leave God out of the process, or are foolish as we proceed, those are the situations where we are most likely to run into problems, but the same is true of most situations in life. Traveling in the spirit is a means of prayer by which we can literally ascend into the heavens and engage the spiritual realms from there. After all, the Scriptures do already say in Ephesians 2:6 that, “God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus . . .” Spirit travel is simply the experience of being where the scriptures already say that we are.

Hey Friends of Eden,

I’m excited to announce my new book has just been published!  Some of you may have seen the story on social media, but this book has been a whirlwind of activity.

Earlier this year, my wife and I began preparations to attend The Gathering conference in Tacoma, Washington.  Sunshine had the idea to put together a book of testimonies about spirit travel for the event.  As I pondered the idea, I considered writing a book on the subject—something that Praying Medic had suggested last year.  I had been busy at the time working on other books, and even when my wife suggested it, I was preparing to start a different book entirely.  Without knowing I was praying about this and considering it, my friend Mahesh gave me a confirming prophetic word, and from there I set out to put this book together in record time.  With only about four and a half months from the time I began the manuscript to the time I had to publish to be ready for the conference,  while working a full-time job and meeting all of life’s other responsibilities, I pushed.  Even after life got in the way and we eventually had to pull out of the event, I still felt the book needed to be done in time for The Gathering, which it has!

This book came together in a near-miraculous fashion, and it brings a unique perspective to the spirit travel movement.  I cover the basics, including seeing in the spirit, the gift of discernment, and the biblical basis for traveling in the spirit.  I also discuss things I have not heard many talk about, including speaking to the cloud of witnesses regarding whether to raise them from the dead, as well as an entire chapter discussing the ethics of spiritual travel.  While geared toward those new to spirit travel, this book is designed to help bring wisdom to the movement as a whole, covering important subjects that will help guide the reader into a deeper level of maturity in this area.

One of the things I am excited about for those of you who have followed along for a while, is that years ago, my friend Praying Medic and I began to discuss spirit travel and translocation with some regularity.  Somewhere along the way, we received a revelation that there was a kind of spiritual superhighway that was being built to help carry all of the traffic in the spirit that would be on it in the future.  Furthermore, we could sense that it was our job to help build it!  Last year Praying Medic published his book Traveling in the Spirit Made Simple, and just today I have launched The Beginner’s Guide to Traveling in the Spirit.  It never ceases to amaze me how God can give us revelation that years later plays out in ways we could never have guessed, which in this case is figuratively “paving the way” for people to access this spiritual gift by way of revelatory teaching and activation.  This speaks volumes to me about how these books are not just highly revelatory, but are cutting edge!  And while it might sound a little odd to say that about one’s own book, I have watched over the past decade as spirit travel has gone from a very secretive practice to something that many openly embrace.

Healing Fragments and Alters: From Genesis To Jesus

The following guest post was authored by Matt Evans, a man who focuses his ministry on inner healing, and who coauthored a book with me and four other authors, Broken to Whole: Inner Healing for the Fragmented Soul.  His article is as follows:

 

Since authoring our new book on healing fragments/fractured parts through the work of the Spirit (Broken to Whole: Inner Healing for the Fragmented Soul), we’ve been asked by a few people for a biblical basis. We even ran into one keyboard crusader of orthodoxy who was publicly demanding more Bible verses.

As much as we would love to quote the verse, “Yea, verily, thus saith the Lord, thou shalt integrate thine fragments and thine alters and then thou shalt be every whit whole saith your God,” we also are having trouble finding the verse that says, “Thou shalt turn on thine computer when thou wakest, and thou shalt readeth thy brother’s blog post, and when thy brother publisheth his book on Amazon, thou shalt download it unto thy Kindle, and then thou shalt demand more Bible verses before thou readest, because surely thus saith the Lord, thou shalt do nothing unless it is expressly written in thine Bible.” Or, how about the verse that says, “Thou shalt getteth thee into thine car, and driveth unto Five Guys to buyeth thee a cheesburger with fries, then thou shalt come home and crusadeth against heretics on the internet unto the glory of the Mighty One of Israel?”

The truth is, if we could only do things that are explicitly mentioned in scripture, we would all need to smash our computers as instruments of the devil, then join the Amish for the rest of our days. I’ll share a bit more later about how the New Testament leaves things wide open for continual revelation beyond what is written, but I want to share various places where scripture does speak to the issue of fragmentation and integration, even in some exceptionally clear ways.

First, an excerpt from my own (Matt’s) writing in the book itself:

Ministry to fractured parts was a basic element of Jesus’ mission statement in Luke 4:18. There, he quoted Isaiah 61, “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon        me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor, he has sent me to bind up/heal the broken hearted…” The word for “broken hearted” there in the Hebrew is “shabar,” which means to be shattered into many pieces. Jesus came to heal and to bind together those who have been shattered into many pieces. We’ve found this to be literally true; most, if not all, people have been shattered into many fractured parts, and these parts need to be healed and joined back together for the person to experience wholeness.

Then, Diane Moyer wrote:

I started praying and seeking the Lord about it, and he showed me the Scriptures about double-mindedness in James 1:8 that says, “being a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.” I looked up ‘double-minded,’ and the root of ‘minded’ is ‘psyche,’ which means soul. ‘Double’ means twice, so being double minded means you have two souls. Hmmm… how can that be? Two souls?

The Lord showed me that what I had been taught before about double-mindedness—one foot in him, one foot in the world—was not correct. ‘Double-mindedness’ means two souls or two minds. What I felt the Lord was revealing to me was that many people have a part or parts of their soul that was stuck in trauma while they were a child. This fractured-off part of ourselves speaks within us—an internal voice that wants its own way.

Also:

More recently, the Lord gave me a picture of what fragments/fractured parts are. He has been showing me that although our body is one, it has many parts—fingers, toes, arms, head, eyes, etc. Each part has its function and job (1 Corinthians 12:14-26). Our soul functions in a similar manner—it is one but has many parts, each with its own function. If you break an arm, you find ways to compensate, doing what you normally would do without using that arm. If you lose your eye-sight, then your other senses become more enhanced to help you function. Although this works to some degree, it is never the same or as effective as if you were not injured.

The soul works the same way. When we are wounded emotionally, a part of our soul is crippled. We developed defense and coping mechanisms to overcome the crippling in that part of the soul. These mechanisms remain in place until that part of the soul is healed.

You cannot talk or decide your way out of this kind of problem, and self-control only works for a short while. The Lord ministering to the wounded part of the soul is the best solution.

 

We can look a bit deeper into the major themes of scripture as a whole, the overall story of redemption, and the basic nature of God and man revealed throughout the Bible to get even more insight into fragmentation and integration:

From the beginning, God was a plurality within one person. Genesis 1:1 says that God(Elohim) created the heavens and the earth. That Hebrew word, “elohim,” is plural, and is translated elsewhere in scripture as “gods,” as in “you shall not worship other gods(elohim) or bow down before them.” Man was created in the image of this plural being. Could it be that from the very beginning of Genesis, we are being shown that our nature, in the image of God, is to contain multiple identities within one person? One might even think the ancient Israelites were polytheistic if it weren’t for verses such as Deuteronomy 6:4, “Hear O Israel, the LORD (adonai) our God (Eloheinu/Gods) is one,” used often to support the doctrine of the Trinity. According to the Old Testament, “The Lord our Gods is one.” Does this mean God has fractured parts? No, but he has various individual identities operating in unity (syncronization). This is different than fragmentation created through trauma, which is a survival mechanism with negative consequences until it’s healed, but speaks of our basic nature of being capable of forming more than one identity in healthy and unhealthy ways.

Jesus not only clarified some of how God is multiple persons in one (Father, Son, Spirit), but he was given to bring us into unity once again in Him. His prayer in John 17 was that “they may be one, Father, as you and I are one, that they may be one in us, that the world may know that you have sent me.” Jesus came to bring “many sons to glory” as the author of Hebrews writes, revealing that our design from the beginning was to be sons like Jesus, to be joined into the family of the Trinity, one with the Father like Jesus.

In Romans 5, Paul explains how all of mankind fell in Adam but was to be restored in Christ. Basically, the Father lost his son (Adam/mankind) who was created in his own image, meant to partake in oneness with the Trinity. God became alienated from parts of his own image and identity through broken relationship (division) and lost/separated identity (dissociation). Jesus, the exact image of God and the core identity of humanity, would be born on earth to restore all the fractured parts of mankind (individual people dissociated from their original source and purpose) back into one again.

Jesus came to heal us, to deliver us, and to restore us into, not only relationship with the Trinity, but oneness with the Trinity. When scripture says that we are “in Christ” and that he is in us, what could this mean but that we are one with him? Paul writes in 1 Corinthians, “he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with him,” relating that to the union between a man and a woman, where the two are tied together in spirit, soul, and flesh, becoming one. We are the body of Christ on earth, meaning that even our flesh has been joined to him through redemption. We have been given the mind of Christ as well.

The work of redemption is not only restoring mankind from fragmentation on this macro-scale, but is restoring God’s fragmented parts back to himself, since he identifies so intimately with us, declaring our experiences to be his experiences when he said, “as you have done it to the least of these, you have done it unto me.” On a micro-scale, the individual person made in his image, why would this be any different? We have found that, just as Isaiah 61 tells us that messiah would come to heal and bind together those who have been fractured into many pieces, restoration of fragmentation within individuals is a huge key to healing.

 

Finally, I want to share an excerpt of my writing from an upcoming book Diane and I are nearly ready to publish, which covers a more broad array of healing topics, focusing on the heart behind it all, “Divine Healing for Spirit, Soul, and Body”:

A common objection to this sort of ministry is that there isn’t a model for every part of it in scripture. I mean, where do you see Jesus having someone revisit their memories and hand over their emotions, or ministering to their fractured parts? Although we will be including scripture references and sometimes scriptural examples, it is true that more of what you typically see in the Bible are stories of someone saying, “Be healed!” and that’s all there is to it.

My response to this objection is that scripture was never meant to contain examples of everything we are to do. John 21:25 tells us “And there are also many other things which Jesus did, which if they were written in detail, I suppose that even the world itself would not contain the books that would be written.” The gospel accounts of Jesus’ healing ministry are only generalized representations; they don’t reveal everything he did. They say he healed multitudes in this place and that. They usually don’t say how.

Jesus commissioned his disciples to teach people to do everything he had done and taught (Matthew 28:20). He also said in John 16:12, near the end of his earthly ministry, that he had many more things to teach them which they weren’t yet ready for. He said that Holy Spirit would continue to lead them into all truth, to teach them beyond what Jesus himself had taught them. This means we can expect Holy Spirit to lead us into things beyond what is in the book.

Jesus said in John 14:12 that believers would do greater works than he. What if that means doing more complete healing than he did?

In Matthew 12:43, Jesus spoke of the generation of people he had healed and delivered in large numbers, saying that when an unclean spirit departs from a man it searches through dry places seeking rest and finding none, returns to the person it came out of with seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and so the last state of the man is worse than at first. He then said, “So shall it also be with this wicked generation” (KJV). His prediction came true about many of those he had healed and delivered. The same multitudes who Jesus had healed and delivered on a surface level soon turned on him and participated in the murderous work of the principalities and powers of darkness, shouting as one, “Crucify him!”

Even those Jesus poured into most during his time on earth (Peter and the other apostles) failed miserably in his final hours, revealing that they still had much healing and transformation to receive. Apparently, Jesus didn’t “totally heal and deliver” anybody in a five-second prayer, nor even through three years of discipleship.

What if one of the promised “greater works” is leading people into deeper healing, not just temporary relief of an issue on the surface such as a demon or a disease? What if literally removing the sins and driving woundedness from the hearts of the masses was one of the things Jesus had in mind for us, but which he didn’t have time to thoroughly accomplish in his own mission?

He was just getting the ball rolling in the right direction, showing a taste of what was possible, but not showing everything. It would then be our job to search out the wisdom of God and move into progressive revelation and experience over the ages. We have a living relationship with God, not just a closed book.

All these things we are talking about, healing emotions in memories, healing fractured parts, etc., are really only a matter of allowing the Lord access to the authentic content of our hearts so that he can help us where we truly are.

Keys to Healing and Transformation

“I’m in my late 30’s, and possibly not what you expect a “minister” to be. I’m not interested in having a ceremonial hat or fancy title. I’m very much into organic relationships and not so much into big organizations. I relate to people in a low-key manner and on equal footing. I’m not obsessed with “avoiding the appearance of evil.” (That’s an inaccurate translation anyway.)  I’m most at home with those who religion ostracizes, who don’t buy into every last line of the doctrine statements, who may be a little rough around the edges, who can be comfortable in their own skin, who aren’t paranoid of going to hell if they hear a cuss word or if they give someone “license” to stumble through a journey of discovery. Actually, I call that love.

Jesus has been very real in my life since a young age, and I could never be satisfied with a “normal” life that would make sense to most people. After all I’ve seen and been a part of, I must spend my life in his presence and for his cause. Nothing else compares. God has shown me that he IS love (as opposed to being that sometimes but becoming something else if his kids misbehave). He has met me and worked in my life despite my not having it all together in so many ways, so I also meet people where they are and simply bring life to them, without requiring them to conform to a standard.  I’ve always been a bit outside the box, and have struggled sometimes with not fitting into church and ministry crowds. While feeling like the unlikely one and the misfit far too often, I’ve found the Lord faithful to miraculously open doors for me and to accomplish many significant things beyond my wildest expectations.  I’ve come to love being a part of this journey.”

Overcoming The Fear Of Death

Back in 2002, shortly after the movie A Walk To Remember came out, I was a freshman in college and it was playing at some evening campus event.  Having nothing to do, I decided to watch it, and was in tears toward the end when ***spoiler alert*** one of the main characters, played by Mandy Moore, dies.  It was a sad ending to a movie but it had that sweet, angsty relationship drama that seems to be so big among teenagers, of which I was one at the time.  For whatever reason, I have always been able to identify with that movie–the desire to get married at a young age, and the fear that my spouse would die many years before me.

I don’t recall when either the desire to be married young or the fear of early spousal death took hold within my heart, but both conditions certainly have been set up in my life.  At age 23, my wife and I got married, and she was (and remains) 24 years older than I am.  I find it interesting that both my deep desire to be married young and my potential fear of my spouse dying early have been all wrapped up into one.  Certainly I don’t hope for that, but given our significant age difference, that possibility certainly exists, at least in a normal life where people believe that we are all fated to die.

If we fast forward to now, where I am 33, I don’t actually believe in death and dying, preferring to simply live forever like Jesus promised us so many times in scripture.  Yet, at the same time I still find myself getting sick every winter, and my wife experiences chronic pain and a host of other issues from long-term mercury poisoning from dental amalgam fillings (if you have them, get them out of your mouth–they are slowly killing you).  Neither of these look very much like the abundant life Jesus promised us.

I found myself the other day thinking about the fact that my wife is in pain every day, and it’s really just a question of how much pain she is going to be in.  I was talking to God about the situation, and A Walk to Remember came to mind.  I realized that the fears I harbor regarding my spouse dying an early death are a contributing factor to attracting death and disease in her life.  God reminded me that in the same way that Job’s fears were largely responsible for the calamity he experienced (Job 3:25 says, “What I feared has come upon me; what I dreaded has happened to me.”) that I influence my wife’s health to some immeasurable degree through my fear.

After I was prompted about this, I began to repent in prayer and renounce those fears and the beliefs underlying them.  I asked the Lord to bring healing into every place in my heart that is hurt and has given room for those fears.  I asked Him to touch every fragmented and fractured part of my soul that is not part of my core self that may hold this fear of spousal death and of the pain and loss associated with it, ministering to them and bringing them into greater freedom.  Shortly after that, I began to get nauseous, which is often indicative to me of demons manifesting if it occurs during or after a time of prayer.  I began to address the demons associated with those hurts and fears and erroneous beliefs.  I do not believe I am finished with this fear and the underlying beliefs, but I do feel I have made a step forward, both in correcting my own thoughts and emotions that are tied into death, and in altering the attraction I bring by my beliefs into my life and subsequently into my wife’s.

For those who are unfamiliar with Praying Medic, he has been a Paramedic for over three decades.  In 2000, while an atheist, he encountered Jesus in the bunk room of a fire station and that encounter radically changed the course of his life.  In 2008 the Lord spoke to him in a dream and told the Medic that He would heal his patients if he would be faithful to pray for them.  Praying Medic didn’t believe in healing at the time, but he began to pray.  In 2009 he began a blog, the Mobile Intensive Prayer Unit, to chronicle the work God was doing through healing and miracles around the world, as well as to share some of his own experiences of learning to move in healing and miracles.  Eventually he moved over to PrayingMedic.com.  After blogging for years, he published his first book in 2013 called Divine Healing Made Simple, and in 2016 he appeared on Sid Roth’s show Its Supernatural (the video is below).

He often writes about healing, but also covers dreams, deliverance, hearing God and seeing in the spirit, spiritual travel, politics and economics, and more.  He infrequently speaks at conferences and other training events, preferring to focus on writing books, podcasting, and now teaching online courses.

Learning To Rest In God

A week ago Monday I helped a friend pack up to move out of her house.  My wife and I had driven two hours south with our new puppy (who gets carsick) and the grandkids a few days prior, but this time I went by myself, taking my truck with an 8-foot bed, planning to arrive early in the day and come home late to get a ton of work done.  On the ride down I listened to a message titled The Body of A God Part 1 by Silas Valentine of Ekstasis Culture.  He covered a number of things in this message, but the main point I took out of it at that time was to learn to rest in God—that I can do work without it being toil, and that as I focus on remaining in communion with God and let Him help me perform tasks with joy, I can live in peace.  Well, this day was a great day to put it into practice.

The day started out well, with a very enjoyable and peaceful drive.  I arrived at my friend’s and got to see another old friend who had come up from California, and that was great.  I loaded up my truck with recycling, drove to the local dump . . . and it was closed.  Because apparently they are closed every Monday, opting (wisely) to be open on Saturday instead.  Well, I asked in the office and the only place open was a dump just shy of an hour away.  I drove back to the house, unloaded the recycling, loaded the Goodwill donations and dropped them off, rented a Uhaul trailer, hooked it up and drove back to the house, loaded the trash, recycling, old tires, and some more Goodwill donations, and headed off to make my rounds once more.

This entire time I was enjoying resting in God.  Things could have gotten stressful at a number of points, but I found I was not only doing quite well, but was free to encourage others as well.  I dropped off the donations and tires, then realized I forgot some trash, so headed back to the house to pick it up before driving to the dump.  It was around 4pm when I made it back to the house, and while the dump was an hour away, it closed at six.  I walked in the house, asked for a hand loading something, and one of the women asked “How are you going to make it to the dump in time?”work rest

“It closes at six, so I’ve got lots of time.”

“No, it closes at five.”

Silence. . .

Problem!

 

I turned and ran out of the house as I yelled something like “If I go quickly maybe I can make it!”  I didn’t come close.  I even had someone call the dump and ask them to stay open late on a mercy-mission to help us since I was on the way.  No-go.  I stopped partway at an always-open recycling center to at least offload the recycling, then planned to take the rest of the trash back to Portland with me to dump on Tuesday.  I was still doing okay, and remaining in rest.  However, the things I picked up at the house on that last trip back made the trailer just full enough that when I offloaded the recycling I didn’t have enough room in my truck (which has a cap on the bed).  I spent the next hour or so rifling through the bags of trash in my truck, pulling out every recyclable item I could find and tossing it in order to make room.  I kind of lost it at this point.  I called my wife, not knowing what to do since I was supposed to come home that evening, it was already almost 7pm.  I had borrowed an adapter for the electrical system on the Uhaul and had to return it to the rental location, so couldn’t come home with the trailer.

My wife is one of the most caring people I know.  She could tell I was super-stressed at this point (and that whole “rest in God thing was totally out the window by now), and just told me to stay the night.  I stopped at a store and picked up a cheap t-shirt on my way to get some pizzas and meet everyone else back at the house to continue working and eventually go to sleep.

I dumped the trash the next morning and returned the Uhaul before it was due and everything worked out, but I learned a valuable lesson.  Life was SO much easier when I remained in God’s rest.  And a day or two later I was stressing about chores we needed to do at home, and again reflected on how I was living completely outside of that rest yet again.  By no means do I pretend to have arrived, but I have had some pretty clear object lessons this past week or so that have taught me the importance of learning this.  As we learn to enter into God’s rest, living in His peace and joy even while we work, we will never live under the curse which forces us to toil.  This is a reality that God has for us here and now.  I saw a glimpse of what Paul said in Philippians 4:11, “I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.”

I pray God teaches each of us to enter into His rest in a deeper way on a daily basis, that we may enjoy His presence and peace always.

Forerunners and Imposter Syndrome

I have a friend who regularly reminds me that I am a forerunner. I didn’t used to understand why, but as I have pursued the revelation of life and immortality (get a copy of my book on the subject here) I have come to understand more of why he, a fellow forerunner, always reminds me of that. It’s because he has been there, knows how difficult it can be, and is trying to ease my way.

When I put out my book Faith To Raise The Dead, I had multiple people ask me the question “How can you write a book about raising the dead if you haven’t raised the dead yet?” While writing the book I wrestled with this very idea. What I realized is that lots of people teach things they haven’t done and we consider it perfectly normal and/or reasonable. Science teachers teach about volcanoes, water currents, outer space, atoms and subatomic particles, cellular respiration, and all sorts of other natural phenomenon and physiological processes they have never personally witnessed. History professors teach about cultures they have never actually encountered personally. People teach business courses all the time who have no actual experience running a business. It is actually quite common in higher education to do exactly that, and it happens in the Church as well.

End-times prophecy is a perfect example of this. We have well-known speakers, authors, and teachers who have deeply involved understanding of their subject matter, but at the end of the day it is technically 100% conjecture considering not a single one of them has ever actually “experienced” the end times they are speaking about. People flock to conferences, buy books, and are glued to television programs with these individuals discussing these theories that don’t even really influence our day-to-day lives, but when someone talks about raising the dead, living in divine health, or living forever the first thing many point to is the fact that I haven’t lived it all experientially yet.

The thing about forerunners is that we don’t always have all the details worked out yet, but we are the people who get everyone moving in the right direction to begin with. We are the innovators who spread the message to get the early adopters on board. As with any new idea, invention, etc. the innovators and early adopters face the most ridicule because they are willing to step out and take a risk with no guarantee of return. However, that risk-taking eventually pays off when everyone else hops on board and wishes they had started earlier.

One of the threats forerunners face is Imposter Syndrome—the fear that you risk being exposed as a fraud for what you are doing; that someday your areas of lack will be exposed and people will see you for “who you really are.” As I said before, I really had to fight this idea as an author because I haven’t raised the dead yet, but I realized that I’m not an imposter just because I haven’t been successful yet. I have learned a lot through my experiences as I have pursued resurrection, and God has taught me even more as I have continued on this path. The same is happening with the revelation of abundant life and immortality—God is revealing new levels and aspects of this truth even though I have yet to live in the fullness of this promise that Jesus gave his disciples.

The apostle Paul ran into this same problem, to the point that he repeated himself twice when speaking to the Philippians about this in Phillippians 3:12-14, saying, “Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” Paul was very clear that he had not already attained the fullness of the revelation he was preaching, but he didn’t let it stop him from proclaiming the revelation.

I had a dream the other night that seemed to suggest there are two main ways God gives us a message He wants us to carry. The first is as a prophetic revelation, and this typically comes first. Prophetic messages are often those given by the forerunners, as they are speaking of realities that have not manifested as of yet. The second are apostolic messengers—those who have lived out the message, have struggled through the ups and downs as they have pioneered the experience, and who have become the living embodiment of that which they speak. Neither means of carrying a message is better than the other, nor is either inferior to the other; they are simply different. Apostolic messengers carry the experiences within them, while the prophetic messenger is often speaking of things he or she has yet to attain to. It is important to understand whether a message is prophetic or apostolic as defined above, as prophetic messages are those that place us in greater danger of Imposter syndrome.

Finally, it is important to have our approval grounded in God’s love for us instead of in the accolades found by other humans. If we find our solace in the encouragement and agreement of other people then when discouragement and discord come along we are not going to be able to stand firm and carry the message strong. If we are grounded in the Father’s love and approval of us, then it doesn’t matter what trials or tribulations come our way because we will be filled with an inner strength to hold our ground and lift our standard high.
