Time Warping

Today we feature a guest blog on Time-warping written by a friend. For various reasons she prefers to leave her name off the post, but there is follow-up information at the end if you want to get in touch. Enjoy!

“This all started a few years ago when I was praying in tongues a lot. By a lot I mean 1, 2, 3 hours a day. Speaking in tongues during drive time, and singing elsewhere in case somebody could hear me. At some point during that intense spiritual activity, I started making really good time.

It was like time would stand still and I’d keep going.

At my job, there are logs of where I was at what time, for accountability purposes. There is plenty on record of me being in two places, not at the same time, but a minute or so apart. There were very few days where I wasn’t going home hours ahead of schedule.

I worried about this in the beginning, and decided that since I wasn’t entirely in control, I wasn’t going to worry about it and I wasn’t going to falsify data, even if I could figure out how to. I would run around and let the chips fall. This has resulted in shiny-shoed government officials following me around with stop watches and later, GPS tracking my whereabouts and speed.

I was out walking one day when a guy came flying out of his house yelling at me. “How are you faster than me when I’m faster than you?” I walked back puzzled. He elaborated that I can be out for a casual stroll while he power walks or runs and I always beat him. I hadn’t realized I was in a race. Things like that make me a little nervous that I’m being noticed. Evidently I don’t look like The Flash, since he was commenting on how slow I seem.

Is This Supernatural Transport?

This is the first thing people assume. I don’t think so. I don’t believe I’ve ever had that happen, although I’m certainly wanting that. I don’t think it’s that, because I’m cognizant of everywhere I go. I don’t have the “skip” that transporters have. It doesn’t feel any different as far as speed, the only thing I notice is that it goes smooth for me. I seriously think the time just changes. I also know how to function efficiently in the natural realm, and that factors in as well.

So why was this happening? That’s still the big question. At the time, I was writing my book, and running a business and I’ve since added a second business, so in some ways it made that possible, but there were also some drawbacks in what a friend referred to as “spiritual jet-lag.” There would be this period afterward where I wasn’t being tremendously effective with all my new found time.

For lack of a better way to explain, I was having a hard time functioning in the here and now. Not that I couldn’t, I just didn’t want to. I was a bit sullen and resistant coming out of it. I didn’t want to have a “normal” conversation with someone, I didn’t want to go home and sit on the couch with my husband and watch tv. I felt like I had been ruined for “normal.” The problem was, everybody I love still lived in “normal.” It broke my heart.

There were lots of nights where I would go up on the mountain and grieve and pray before I felt like I could go be around people again without being crushed. Not exactly a time saver at that point, and I felt responsibility to do “important” things with my gift of time. Yet I did get past that stage, and I find that I’m fine and functional anywhere, anytime now. I also understand that sometimes the gift of time is just that; a gift, with no strings attached.

How To Bend Time

I teach a business class for spiritual entrepreneurs and the following is excerpted from the module on time management.

While I can somewhat lean into this and get it to happen, this is far from a formulaic promise that you’ll have the same results. I’m still figuring it all out. I will say that following these steps will lead to good fruit, even if it’s not the same as mine.

1. Pray in the Spirit

As I said earlier, I really believe this is where it started for me. While I think it was more of a catalyst to get me into a proper mind frame than the actual activity itself, it did the job. I’m not going to tell you that you need to pit in the time I did, because this is certainly not a “works” thing, but for me the 2 hours a day blew the lid off in several ways.

2. Mind Frame.

You can’t step out of time in anything less than a full peace. Being at rest even in the midst of activity is key. Having scarcity mentality in the area of time will stop you up. So will offense or any other negative dwelling place.

3. No Time Excuses

“I don’t have time” can no longer be a valid reason. This doesn’t mean you say yes to everything, it means it can’t be your go-to excuse for why you say no to someone.

4. One With God

Get a revelation that you are one with a God who is outside of time, therefore you are too. He’s in you, you’re in Him, head knowledge doesn’t cut it. Ask Him to show you this personally.

5. Ask That You Would Walk in Wisdom.

Something I have been turning over in my head for a couple years, is the verse “walk in wisdom towards those outside, redeeming the time.” It continues, “Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt that you may know how to answer every man.” Then in Ephesians 5 we have “redeeming the time, because the days are evil.” That chapter is all about having your act together on an inner level and walking in wisdom. I’d recommend a review of that whole chapter since it does address being filled with the Spirit, and speaking and singing in tongues.

So if you’re going to redeem time, wisdom is the common denominator. Wisdom, we are told, is available to anyone who asks.

Kairos Vs Chronos

Redeem means to take the power from another. Kellie, a student in my business class gave us a good lesson on Kairos vs Chronos. The gist is Chronos is the Greek god of time. This is where we get “Father Time” and chronological time. We need to not empower that dude. So we’re clear, other gods = demons. Kairos of course by the New Testament is an appointed time in the purpose of God.

Wikipedia says Kairos “signifies a time lapse, a moment of indeterminate time in which everything happens.” I quite like that definition. Kairos is smack dab in the middle of where we want go be. Redeeming the time, I believe is stepping out of chronological time and into Kairos.

Note: I don’t believe that chronological time in and of itself is evil, only that we aren’t to be subject to it. God uses it, and so should we. It should serve us, not the other way around.

Here’s your Einstein on the matter. He of course said that time is relative. “The perception of past, present and future is a stubbornly persistent illusion.” Take that Chronos. We are made to have eternity in our hearts.

If you’re in Him and He’s in you, then you’re outside of time. Actually, it’s a dual thing according to what you choose to engage. When you prophesy, you are pulling from the future. When you observe something in the past, you change it. Google the observer effect in quantum physics. You are always moving in and out of chronos time.

Time Change is Linked to the Battle Between Good and Evil

Time changed at the fall in Eden, again in the days of Noah, then again at the cross where the curse became null and void. This verse from Daniel’s end times vision is interesting. 7:25 And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.”

This “wearing out the Saints” thing gives validity to my thinking that a posture of rest is crucial. It’s yet another Kingdom paradox, to go faster, you get out of your hurry and rest. To be clear, rest in this case does not mean inactivity, rather finding your rhythm and being at peace in your work.

I found it useful at one point to draft myself up a prayer. I tend to think better on paper, and I’m not a verbal processor whatsoever. Here’s mine to borrow.

I repent of any areas I have not been walking in wisdom. I repent of animosity towards others for taking my time. I forgive those who have been careless with time; mine, theirs, those that I care about… I ask forgiveness for judgements about time; mine, theirs… I repent for wasting time, not understanding time or my relationship with it. I repent of every time I have used it as an excuse, or believed that I don’t have enough. I repent of coming into agreement with Chronos, and toiling under the sun. I declare that I am free from their influence! Show me a better way! I repent of clock watching and schedule sticking. I declare those things serve me rather than me serving them. I am not a victim of a 24 hour day.

I want unlimited time, not just at work, but in relationships, at home, in the garden/secret place. I want enough to go around. I ask for a repayment of time that’s been lost. That it would be supernaturally made up.

No more running out of time, I declare that I am one with a God who is outside of time and space, therefore I am too. I am not under the sun, or any other natural cycles but the Son. I have all the time I need. Show me what to do with my time, teach me to steward it well, but also set my mind at ease when I warp so that I’m not worried that I’m doing the wrong thing with my gift of time. I repent of thinking that I have to do big things with the surplus, and may there always be a surplus.”

Practical Miracles

Mark 6:30- 44 NIV – The Feeding of the Five Thousand

“The apostles gathered around Jesus and reported to him all they had done and taught. Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, ‘Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.’

So they went away by themselves in a boat to a solitary place. But many who saw them leaving recognized them and ran on foot from all the towns and got there ahead of them. When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. So he began teaching them many things.

By this time it was late in the day, so his disciples came to him. ‘This is a remote place,’ they said, ‘and it’s already very late. Send the people away so that they can go to the surrounding countryside and villages and buy themselves something to eat.’

But he answered, ‘You give them something to eat.’

They said to him, ‘That would take more than half a year’s wages! Are we to go and spend that much on bread and give it to them to eat?’

‘How many loaves do you have?’ he asked. ‘Go and see.’

When they found out, they said, ‘Five—and two fish.’

Then Jesus directed them to have all the people sit down in groups on the green grass. So they sat down in groups of hundreds and fifties. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to his disciples to distribute to the people. He also divided the two fish among them all. They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces of bread and fish. The number of the men who had eaten was five thousand.

In my opinion, the Feeding of the Five Thousand was one of Jesus more notable miracles due to the sheer quantity of food that was multiplied. If you think about it, the magnitude is impressive– the equivalent of one or two peoples’ meal managed to feed five thousand men, and if historical records are accurate this means he actually fed more than ten-thousand when counting the women and children present. While impressive all its own, the magnitude was not what caught my attention when I recently reviewed this miracle. No, what grabbed me was the practicality.

If you read in verse 37 the disciple basically said “That’s really expensive — are you sure you want us to spend that much?” You see, Jesus was loaded. He got tons of offerings from people and had really rich women who supported him AND the disciples. All of their needs were met. People treated them to lunch, gave them places to stay, and overall Jesus lived quite well. Even his clothing that they gambled for at the crucifixion was high-level production. As best as I can tell, and from the statement the disciples made, they actually had enough money to buy bread for everyone there. At no point did Jesus say “Man, we really don’t have the cash.” He easily could have said “Yes, go take Judas and buy wagonfuls of food.” Face it — Jesus had tons of options. Jesus could have multiplied money instead of the food, and sent them with enough money to buy everything. But that would have been silly and a ton of work. He could have let them starve too, but that wasn’t his way of doing things, even though fasting for a day wouldn’t have killed anyone. Remember when he turned water to wine at the wedding in Cana? That wine would have been expensive if he had bought it all, based on both the quantity and quality that he made, but that was an issue he completely evaded as well. No, Jesus chose the most practical option when he multiplied the food.

Jesus is just as practical now as he was then. There are teachings floating around that state miracles are to prove God to the unbeliever. That miracles are only for spiritual purposes to draw people closer to God. That miracles are given to confirm the good news of Christ when it is preached. I disagree. They can and do accomplish those things but those are by no means limitations we should place on them.

The miraculous is that it is designed to solve real-life problems. Supernatural manifestations can be tons of fun, but more often than not they have a practical component to them as well. Miracles are meant to change reality. They infect us with Heaven’s solutions and Heaven’s thought patterns. We would be wise to learn from Jesus’ example and engage Heaven for practical miracles.

Spirit Travel: Night Journeys

I have had dreams before that I now recognize weren’t actually dreams but were my spirit traveling while I was asleep. I have done it many times while awake on purpose, and there have been other times that I recall feeling the dream itself seemed exceptionally more real upon waking than other dreams, but only two such dreams can I remember.

The first was probably about ten years ago, during the Bush occupation of Afghanistan after 9/11. I was standing in the desert somewhere by a large rocky outcropping of some kind. There was a U.S. soldier there in light, sandy-colored camouflage with an automatic weapon of some sort. I can only imagine he must have been on some kind of patrol duty as it was completely dark out. Anyway, he and I had a short conversation, but all I remember of that conversation was telling him the following: “Both of my brothers have been to Afghanistan already, so I guess now it is my turn.”

On waking this seemed strange in that it was true at that time that both of my brothers had been to Afghanistan via the military posting them there, but I didn’t understand why the dream was telling me that I was in that same country. It was only a number of years later I realized that it hadn’t been a dream and my spirit had taken a trip to Afghanistan to speak to a soldier while my body was asleep in my bed.

The second traveling event was much more recently–in the summer of 2015. I had been up working at night and laid down in the morning to go to sleep, so I was asleep during the day. I dreamed I was in a hospital on their cancer ward in their play-room for their cancer kids. From what I could tell based on the details in the dream, I was somewhere in the United States and it was daytime. I followed a girl, probably eight to ten years old, into the play room. She was pulling her IV pole in tow and was upset because of something a boy there was saying about God or Jesus, but I do not recall what he said. She, however, was near tears.

I don’t think I actually talked to her directly, but turned my attention to some adults who were in the room–a male doctor of Asian descent who was somewhat tall with short black hair and wearing blue scrubs. There were two female nurses present, one of whom had long dark hair that was very curly. I did not get a good look at the second nurse, but I am pretty sure they were both RNs. I spoke to them about death and loss, and informed that that as I was also a nurse that I, too, have had patients die, that understood their difficulty in dealing with death and how they felt. I reassured them that I was not trying to make light of their feelings in any way, but that I did understand.

I then went on to remind them that what they were doing as God’s work and that in reality all they had to do was turn to God in any and every time they were having difficulty and problems and didn’t feel like they could continue in their line of work. I exhorted them that God could take all of their sadness and grief and that what they needed was to stay close to Him to get inner healing for all their emotional hurts so they could continue moving forward to tend to the needs of these children. I reminded them they did need to tend to these children’s needs and bring healing to them.

That was the end of what I recall of that experience, but it struck me upon waking that at least one of those three must have been very close to quitting and needed to hear what I said to them. I was also struck by the fact that it was after 8 am in the morning on the West Coast of the U.S. when I had this dream, late enough that anywhere in the U.S. at that time there would reasonably have been doctors and nurses awake on day shift and at work. In other words, the time of day I experienced in the dream correlated with the time of day it actually was outside the dream, which served in my mind as only further confirmation that I had indeed traveled in the spirit in my sleep.

I found both of these experiences to be unique in that I do not now specifically recall every detail or even why I was there at the time–I simply appeared where I needed to be and it occurred while I was asleep. I do not know if I will ever meet the soldier or the doctor and nurses, or that little girl, but I do know that whatever I did had lasting fruit and that God was responsible for orchestrating my spirit to travel throughout the earth where it was needed. One more thing I strongly feel is that God is taking us to a place where it will not just be at his moving that we travel to and fro about the earth, but that as we grow up and learn how to be about the Father’s business that we will become ale to do it of our own will and volition, initiating these experiences and actively traveling in the spirit to those places in the earth that have greatest need, even without ever leaving our homes, or doing so in our sleep.

The Anatomy of a Miracle

Miracles are often thought to be this mysterious thing that rarely ever happen in life and are entirely dependent on God “sovereignly” doing something without our input at all. Fortunately, this is not entirely accurate and there are a number of things we can do to actively engage miracles. The first thing is to actually believe that we can perform miracles. The old pattern of belief said “if God wanted me to have miracles, He knows my address and knows where to send them. No miracles means it isn’t God sovereign will.” The old posture is one of helplessness and complete dependent on a God that may or may not actually want to pour out His power upon you. Instead of this viewpoint, I want to show you some keys on how to transform yourself to come to a point where you are able to regularly work miracles like Jesus did.

The old posture about miracles is supported by the common belief about sovereignty, but the problem is that sovereignty doesn’t mean what we think it means, and is rather a title for Gods positional authority, whether His will is always being done or not. This means that it is possible for God to be sovereign simultaneously to things not going His way. To break it down further, God’s sovereignty means that he is the highest authority, period. In spite of this undeniable fact, things in life do not always match up with His will–else Jesus wouldn’t have needed to pray for “your kingdom to come and your will to be done on earth as it is in heaven” if it was happening all the time already! Instead, Amos 3:7 says, “Surely the sovereign Lord does nothing without revealing his plan to his servants the prophets.” Even God, in his sovereignty as the highest authority in all creation, doesn’t do anything without first involving people so that people pray and His will manifests in the earth. This is a self-imposed limitation that God has created because he wants our interaction (I will not go into this further here but may in a future blog post). Thus, miracles are actually not just dependent on God, but dependent on our interaction.

Miracles don’t usually come about by random chance. Rather, when understanding the spirit realm and how things come from the invisible into the visible world we can be more consistent in making it happen. Hebrews 11:1-3 says, “Now faith is evidence of what we hope for and substance about what we do not see. This is what the ancients were commended for. By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.” Faith is a force–a substance that takes the invisible and makes it visible. God formed the universe out of this substance, and He has given each of us faith as well. We can extend that force in our lives and use it to work miracles. Faith is a key to miracles because miracles happen, in part, when we use the invisible force of faith to alter the invisible world.

If faith can create miracles, unbelief can suffocate them to death. The areas of unbelief in our lives will have a direct impact on the effectiveness of our faith. Working over time to alter our beliefs about God, ourselves, and the world around us will also help removed unbelief in our lives. Getting deliverance from demons will also help with this problem, as they constantly whisper lies that can feet it. When the demons aren’t present to feed the unbelief and we have dealt with our own beliefs on the subject, the two main sources of food for the doubt will be gone, and when the food is gone, the unbelief will wither and dry up. Healing from inner hurts also helps in this process as it can help remove access that demons use to influence us. Additionally, healed emotions can help us to have a right perspective about things and this affects our beliefs too!

Miracles usually begin with a seed. Like most things in life we start off with something small, and we use it to grow and learn. As we do so, it also grows within us. Music lessons are a perfect example of this. When I was first given a guitar I could barely play a single chord, and my strumming ability was nonexistent–I was a one-strum wonder. As I continued to practice and play the guitar, I began to learn a few more chords and my strumming ability also increased. Eventually I got to the point where I even began to memorize songs and write my own! What at first could not even have been considered a skill has now become a useful tool in my life, but it took practice over about ten years of time to reach where I am today, and even by worldly standards I am still a novice, but a novice that doesn’t sound horrible anymore. Likewise, miracles begin in seed form. We may not see a lot of fruit early on, but all plants have to take time to grow before the fruit is visible. First the seed breaks open and forms a stem, then leaves, and eventually the fruit will appear, but this happens last. If we don’t see any effects when we pray for and command miracles, we may simple be lacking in practice and maturity in this area! Instead of getting discouraged we need to take the opportunity to practice!

Scripture meditation can play a part in miracles as well. As we consider the things that God has done in the past and allow our understanding to be altered by pondering and focusing on those past-miracles, we can transform our faith and expectation and feed the seed of miracles within us. It is best to choose scriptures that demonstrate miracles to us or reveal an aspect of God’s character or our inherent rights as His children that plays a part in our ability to believe for miracles.

Experiences play a big part in our ability to work miracles. While it is possible to work miracles without ever experiencing them, even just one miracle experience is valuable. Having experienced a variety of miracles firsthand, I can say there is a transformation that can happen in our mind when we witness a miracle. I say “can happen” because whether our mind transforms from that experience is partly based on our heart. If our hearts are closed off to God or the miraculous, it is unlikely we will absorb the spiritual nutrients that are released in that miracle event. Conversely, if we are open and ready to experience and receive all that God has for us, witnessing miracles firsthand is a priceless event and will certainly help transform our minds! As a side note, unlike the original disciples, we didn’t have three years of watching someone perform miracles in front of us very day, so we may need to pray in and seek out opportunities to witness miracles firsthand.

Paired with scriptural meditation and experiences are visualization and imagery training. Ephesians 1:20-21 says, “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.” When we imagine and visualize the miracles we are expecting and believing for, we are able to shift our faith and release power. When we do this, this scripture says we will see even more than we were imagining in the first place! The key to this verse is that God is able to do more than we can think, imagine, ask, and visualize according to something–His power at work within us! If we want miracles, we have to put the faith within us into action. It’s not enough to just have it–we need to work it. Interestingly, our subconscious mind doesn’t actually differentiate between fact and imagination. In other words, if we can imagine it, our subconscious belief systems will process it as real data alongside our real life experiences. If we imagine doing miracles it is the same to our minds as if we actually just performed those miracles! Using visualization, we can actually reduce unbelief and increase faith and that without even having to witness a miracle. This is a tool that I believe God has given us so that even if we can’t experience miracles firsthand, we can get some of the same faith-benefits as if we had experienced miracles. Keep in mind here that one experience of an actual miracle is many times more valuable than that of visualization so if given a choice, go see the real deal. However, this is a fantastic tool to use either alongside experiences or instead of them if they are unavailable.

Regardless of whether we are talking about growing a leg out or healing cancer, causing rainclouds to form from nothingness or for a mountain to upend itself in the nearest body of water, or even stranger things such as turning our bodies completely to fire or translocating regularly from place to place, all of these things are miracles and we have a responsibility to this world to become proficient in the miraculous. Jesus himself said in John 14:11, “Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves.” Miracles are a form of evidence that proves the Kingdom of God is at hand. They destroy works of darkness and release the light of heaven into the world. God is into miracles and we need to be as well. With the above tools under your belt, go forth and do mighty works!

The Wedding at Sanctuary – An Excerpt

The following is an excerpt from a book that I will eventually write, but for now this excerpt is the only part of the book that exists. I would love to hear feedback on what you might like to read about in the book, as well as any miracles or other cool powers, events, etc. you would like to read about!

“You ready? Ok. Text or call when you’re ready to go — I’m off to Cincinatti, and I have to pick up some friends in Abuja, Nigeria too. And me mum forgot something at her house in Greenwich too, so I have to stop off there with her before too long. Right. Cheers.” Dylan tucked his cell phone back in his pocket, took a deep breath, and shifted to Cincinnati and came back with a couple. In Nigeria he had a whole group of people that came with him. He took his mom back to Greenwich, and, as could be expected, that trip took longer than he had originally planned, as once she was back home there was the cat to feed, mail to pick up, and other various and sundry items to address before she was ready to come back. Not only that, but she almost forgot what she had come for in the first place. But Dylan didn’t – he was somewhat tired of waiting, so he made sure he grabbed it before they shifted back to Sanctuary. With all of the wedding guests present, Dylan then turned his attention to being the groom.

The wedding itself took place in a gazebo on the Sanctuary lawn. The weather was sunny and warm, but the sky was full of fluffy white clouds – not a raindrop in sight. Roses had decided to plant themselves the night before conspicuously in an outline around the chairs and benches on the lawn, and their sweet scent was carried gently on the warm breeze. As the music began and Joelle, the ‘flower girl’, walked down the lawn, a trail of gold and diamond dust fell behind her and could be seen almost like a cloud at waist height dropping little bits of heaven on the grass beneath it. As she turned away from the groom, the dust ceased falling, almost as if someone had flipped off a switch, leaving a bright trail leading from the main house all the way to the gazebo.

Dylan was nervous, but knew he had waited for this day to come and was excited it was finally here. Everything was almost perfect. When he saw Annalisa leave the house, father in tow, he was slightly scared yet elated, and he knew that everything definitely WAS perfect. Just before Annalisa made it to the chairs, a shaft of light opened up from among the clouds and hit the gold-diamond dust. It was as if she was walking on a shimmering golden rainbow.

She waltzed up to the gazebo where she was ‘given’ to Dylan by her father – not as the old custom of women as property, but as a visible sign that her father approved and trusted that Dylan would love and care for her as only a husband could.

Fallon was standing there with Dylan as well, waiting to begin his part of officiating the ceremony. A not-so-surprising ring of gemstones had started to appear at his feet, but what surprised the onlookers most was when they reached the part of the ceremony for the rings. Both Dylan and Annalisa took a step back, and as if on cue, two small white boxes appeared before them and fell from midair onto the ground. They picked them up and opened them, to find a pair of matching blue-sapphire wedding rings with bands covered in the Josephine knot – a knot symbolic of love and intertwining paths. The reception was held inside the Workshop – and after the food was served, the festivities quickly turned to music and dancing, which in this case really meant ‘worship and dancing’. At one point a holy hush went through the room, as the air became electric. Everyone there could sense that ‘something’ was about to happen. On one wall of the room, what looked like a movie screen appeared in midair, complete with location information appearing on the bottom. The text stated ‘Nairobi, Kenya’. The image on-screen was of a building which suddenly had an explosion blow out one side of the building. Smoke was pouring out and people were screaming in the background. Everyone in the room broke into chatter, as the whole room was experiencing the open vision as a group.

“Quickly to me everyone.” Dylan called. The Sanctuary Team quickly ran to him, as well as some of the other wedding guests, wedding-clothes and all. “Anyone else want to come? Last chance.” One or two more joined, then the room became still. Everyone joined hands and Dylan shifted once more.

Breaking Free From a Spirit of Divination

A few months back I had the opportunity to spend some time with good friends up in Washington State. Almost all of these friends have been following the Lord for a good many years, which is why it came as a bit of a surprise to me when, while praying for a friend for healing, (who we will call “Chris”) we found ourselves dealing with a spirit of Divination that had come in during Chris’s childhood. I should mention that I’ve done a bit of deliverance before, and as a whole the idea of dealing with demons doesn’t really scare me much, but I haven’t ever made a habit of talking with the demons, as I don’t value them and I consider them beneath me. However, this encounter and a conversation I had with another friend a few weeks later, changed how I plan to do deliverance in the future.

It started out with Chris asking for prayer for middle-ear infection/inflammation, and what quickly ensued while saying a simple prayer was a full-scale cramping of the entire right side of his neck and near-screaming in pain. We got him seated, but there was a lot of thrashing around. It was pretty quick that the entire group realized we were dealing with a demon that was visibly manifesting and not simply an inner ear problem. We did some commanding and tried to cast the thing out with sheer power, but it wasn’t working. One of the wisest of our bunch, Northwest Prophetic, calmed Chris down and got the demon to settle a bit. We discerned its function and began to ask it questions, mainly “How did you get in?” If I had thought a bit more I suppose we should have asked it how many OTHER spirits were in there with it and we might have gotten more than the one we did, and in the future that is exactly what I will do, but I digress.

This spirit had hidden itself quite nicely for approximately forty years, only to be unearthed now from its hiding place. And when I say “unearthed,” Chris was basically unconscious and the demon had control of his eyes and vocal cords. The fact is that this demon made it that long largely because demons operate under the principle of “be heard but not seen.” What I mean by that is that they will whisper all sorts of lies into the host’s mind and plant ideas that the host doesn’t realize aren’t actually his thoughts to begin with, but they will usually talk in first person to make it sound like the host is thinking them instead of the thoughts being planted. In fact, this demon STILL didn’t really want to be made known because even when we spoke directly to it, the thing only answered in very short phrases using as few words as possible.

Steve Harmon was kind enough to explain to me at a later date that the spirit didn’t talk much because it wanted to give as little information as possible, but that when that spirit is talking to us, THAT is the moment to treat it like an interrogation session and pump that spirit for as much information as possible: how did it get in there, how many other spirits are there, what are their names or functions, who is the spirit in charge of that spirit-cluster, etc. The more information you can gather from the spirit, the better prepared you are to deal with it and its companions.

Interestingly enough, after dealing with the root point of access (in this case it was a friend and the use of an Ouija board), we had the opportunity to ask Chris what his experience was while we were dealing with the demon. He didn’t remember a single thing we had said or done from the time we started praying and his neck started having severe pain until we cast the demon out and he regained “full consciousness.” What had happened was that he was still awake, more or less, but that his consciousness had gotten pushed under and the spirit’s consciousness was now the one on top and was talking with us. However, Chris was able to tell us what he DID experience when he was under. He said he felt he was in this enclosed space and he wanted to get out, so he started pushing against a wall. However, this wall was a little like rubber and it was just bending with his pushing instead of giving way. He kept pushing, and at one point in time he pushed and the wall gave way and he was out. That moment that the wall gave way was the same moment that we case the spirit of divination out. After that, we prayed for him and Chris began to have visions of fields and fields of flowers. He was just so absolutely amazed by these tons of flowers and the beauty that God was showing him with these flowers. While it might sound a little silly, God was restoring that place in his soul that had been occupied by that spirit, and God was bringing back everything the enemy had stolen from Chris and demonstrated that to him with visions of beautiful flowers.

Shortly after that another friend, we will call Joel, came up and said “Hey, when we were praying over Chris I started having the same symptoms that he did — inner ear and right-sided neck pain, and I was reminded of a situation earlier in my life where I, too, was involved with the Ouija board and I think I’ve got the same spirit. Sure enough, we began to pray and deal with the same spirit, but this time it wasn’t an issue of just finding the entry point, but Joel had some deep inner wounds that needed to be healed. As we prayed, God touched Joel’s heart and he began to cry as God filled him with more of His life-giving love. From that point, we cast a spirit of divination out of Joel as well.

Fast forward a month or so later, I was talking with ANOTHER friend and shared this story with him when he was reminded of a séance he had taken part in when he was eight. This friend didn’t know what a séance even was at the time, but long story short, he had become more timid and fearful since that event. He and I dealt with the point of entry and cast a variety of spirits out (I asked this time and the Séance spirit had friends). Actually, the other demons kicked the Séance spirit out once it started telling us info about who else was in there! We made short work of those spirits, and that friend got freedom as well.

I know these may sound like simply stories to some, but I believe that even some of you reading this are being reminded by God of things that you have done in your own life that have given demons unwanted access to your life. God often uses testimonies of things we have done to jog memories and resonate with things in the lives of others, and I feel strongly that this is the case here as well. In addition to this blog post being for the purpose of general teaching and sharing of experience about deliverance, this is a divine opportunity to receive freedom in your own life. There’s no need to be in fear, but simply spend a few minutes praying and repent for the actions and beliefs you held that created that access, then tell the spirit to leave. Keep doing this until you feel like there has been a difference, and as you do this ask Holy Spirit to guide you into greater freedom. If necessary, talk to a friend and get some outside assistance. I love you all and my prayer for you now is that you be blessed, set free, and your lives to be transformed. Even now is that God is releasing you from bondage and setting you on a path toward even deeper realms of His goodness.

How I Learned to Travel to Heaven

The first time I ever tried to ‘go’ into the heavens I was driving in my car on an hours-long trip, talking on my cell phone with a friend named Ben. We were talking about the idea of freely accessing the heavenly realm, and I was the only person I knew until that conversation who believed that was possible. Turns out that the things I had been pondering were things he had recently begun to experience too, and it was a confirmation to me.

In weeks past I had been thinking about things like “We are seated in heavenly places in Christ” and “we are blessed with every spiritual blessing IN heavenly places” and ‘come boldly before the throne of grace’. They all suggest that there is an experience to be had that goes along with this concept of ‘in the spirit’. And if there is an experience, and it’s something God has for us, then I’d like to experience it myself.

Ben told me about the first time he ever went to heaven in the spirit, and what he saw. And when he went the first time, a friend walked him through what he saw in a particular place he had been to in heaven. Ben started out by just imagining the things his friend was telling him about. If the friend said there was a tree to his right, he’d imagine that. Then he started to see what else he could see, and started actually interacting with the imaginary experience, and it basically had stopped being just imagination and had transitioned into the actual place in heaven the friend was describing.

Right there on the phone he started telling me about it and I started seeing it in my head, sort of like I was imagining it too, but it was almost the same as if I was having a vision too (to me they’re a lot alike — vision and imagination). He was telling me about it and told me to try it later when I wasn’t driving, but I realized that I was actually doing it then while we were on the phone. I’ve been back to that place multiple times since then, and one time I ended up on a horse that took me to a city where I had an encounter with Jesus that brought some inner healing to me related to my sexuality. I am happy to share that with you later if you want to hear about it.

But that’s how I got started my first time ever. Since then, I have had other experiences that have had me places in heaven, and sometimes I might choose to go back to a location I remember just because I can. When I ‘go back’, it’s much like how I went the first time. I start remembering and imagining what it was like, with the intent that I’m going to actually BE there. As I do that, I begin to experience it in my mind/imagination once more,

As for how you can practice it — have you ever had an experience or a vision that you felt like took place somewhere in heaven? If you have, you can just remember and re-imagine that experience, and you’re basically going to re-enter that place in the spirit just by wanting and imagining. And from there, what you do in that place is up to you. You might see if you can meet an angel or just ask God to do something and see what happens, or walk around and see what else you see nearby that place. For the longest time we have had this belief in religion that spiritual things had to be hard to attain–whereas Jesus said that his yoke was easy and his burden was light. I encourage you to try heaven-travel on your own, in a quiet space if possible, and see what you might discover. Heaven is much closer than you think.

Gems From Heaven – Part 3 – How Do I Know This Is God

It is impossible to fully discuss supernatural events if we didn’t address the D-word: deception. So many people get so worried and worked up about getting deceived or being afraid of getting deceived or knowing someone else who got deceived or hearing of someone from someone else who they heard of that someone knew who got deceived through whatever manifestation is in question at that moment. In reality, it’s simpler than people make it–we test the fruit.

It is easy for some to relegate this manifestation to the devil’s work, although if it is, I’ll be honest that I don’t think his tactic is working. You see, every meeting I have either hosted or attended, we all praise God for them, tell others about the work God is doing in and through them appearing, and glorify Him all the more for this manifestation. If it’s a deception tactic it’s failing miserably. Besides, please explain to me what the absolute worst thing that could happen because of believing that God makes gems appear would be. Someone quits their job to sell gemstones? Someone tries to form their own denomination centered around the manifestation? I suggest that’s not deception, but rather blatant stupidity, and God has been able to fix all of our screw-ups from time immemorial. I really don’t think people need to get as worked up about “deception” as they do. Besides, have you ever tried to tell someone they were deceived about something? How well did that go over? Right.

I think it is important to point out and remember that discernment is an inner perception, not a scriptural fact. Each of us have to test the manifestation individually, look at the change it brings in our own hearts, and test the results. I cannot honestly say that I believe this manifestation has made me a worse person. There have been struggles and areas of growth that have come to light in the midst of this, but all of these things speak to me of the refining nature of God’s hand at work, much like cutting and polishing a rough jewel so that it sparkles even more brilliantly. Have there been conflicts in my own household and with friends over this? Yes. Am I happy about those conflicts and the results? No. Do I believe this means God isn’t in it? No. Our responses to what God does in no way legitimizes OR denigrates what God is doing, but over time the fruit of God’s work will be lifegiving. Even with those conflicts I have had, I am not remotely sorry for the gem experiences I have had, and if I had the option of the experiences with the conflicts or no experiences and no conflicts, I will choose the former every time.

The fruit I have seen in my own life and in that of others is that people fall more in love with God. We are more blessed at the end of the day than at the beginning. People have had their hearts touched by the manifestation in ways that have absolutely nothing to do with gems at all, but those gems acted as a confirmation from Heaven in regards to other things God was saying and doing in that person’s heart. Inner healing has occurred during these gem parties as well.

Last month when this gem-storm occurred at our house, my eldest granddaughter, who is seven, was crying and throwing a tempter tantrum because she was upset that God wouldn’t give her a big rainbow-colored stone like she had asked Him. She didn’t understand why God wouldn’t do what she was asking and was really upset and feeling unloved by God, the exact opposite of the purpose of the gems. I had to take her aside and help her calm down, then we sat on her bed and had a short discussion about gratitude and appreciating what God was doing while still asking Him for what she wanted. She left her room feeling much better and continued to play and enjoy the gems. Not twenty minutes later, while we were laying more flooring, she came running back out of her room yelling. “God did it! He gave me my stone! Look everyone! Look!” She was holding a clear stone that was the size of a quarter. It was beautifully cut and had 57 facets to it. Not only that, but I held it up to the sunlight and it cast rainbows on the wall. Yes, God had given her a large rainbow-stone. Even now as I write this it brings me to tears as I am brought more in touch with God’s love for his children, and for our children. He is so incredibly kind and generous and loving, far more than I could ever claim to be.

While this was happening, and even while I was having this discussion with my granddaughter about gems and gratitude, I was struggling in my own heart about wanting a blue sapphire ring that I wanted to give to my wife. It was somewhat important to me, and even though I was echoing the things I had said to my granddaughter in my own heart and mind, I was still struggling. But a few hours later, God gave me the most beautiful, round, blue sapphire stone I think I have ever seen. It was the perfect size and shade, a deep yet brilliant blue.

While many may question how and where these jewels come from, I cannot help but be convinced through these two events and many others like them that this manifestation is clearly and only the work of our Heavenly Father of Lights in whom there is no darkness at all. Whether these gems appear from heaven, or if God is bringing us the wealth of the wicked, plundering stores of treasure sunk at the bottom of the ocean or hidden in secret vaults around the world, I truly cannot say for certain. One thing is clear to me in the midst of this unique demonstration of God’s grace, is that that we are only brushing the very faintest edge of His goodness. God has far more good things stored up and planned for us than we could ask or imagine in a million years, and he will freely give us all things in Jesus Christ.

I know that many of you desire to have this manifestation in your own life, and I desire the same for you. It is exciting to see God manifest his grace and love to us in such an overt, noticeable, tangible way, and can be used as a tool to share the message of God’s love with others. To that end, I want to pray for you to receive this grace upon your own life. “Father, I ask that you grace each person who reads this today with the manifestation of gemstones from heaven, with supernatural oil, gold dust, feathers, and everything else you have for him or her. We thank you for your goodness and grace, and we receive this gift freely because of your great love for us in Jesus’ name. Amen.”
